    Elon Musk is an individual that comes around in the ratio of one to a billion. Visionary, Genius, not afraid of people disbelieving his visions, a true leader of humanity. Unlike the 99,999% of people he is not greedy and not driven by profit, but by pure passion for pushing the boundaries of reality.

    • @MrRatkilr
      @MrRatkilr 5 лет назад +5

      He is not greedy? Are you shitting me? 5 mansions in california. Two private gulfstream jets because he wont fly commercial to save fuel. Uses the jets to go back and forth to the factory instead of his electric cars or a train or other means of transportation? He pushes the boundries of common sense.

      Well , believe it or not , there are tons of people like Musk . He hit the genetic lottery is all . Meaning he has the resources to chase after his dreams . 99% of the people like Musk are stuck in dead end jobs or have been screwed by life one way or another . What people like Musk do is make others like himself try and either help or get encouraged do work harder towards their own goals.

      People could view this akin to 16th century English attempts to colonize Roanoak Island. The first two attempts failed and close to 200 colonists lost their lives. But the English persisted and 22 years later Jamestown was established. Many deaths were due to poor relations with Native Americans, delayed supplies, and terrible growing seasons, but these are typical of unforeseen perils that can occur in such ventures. With Mars, the struggle will require many decades of continuous support, research and development. It's essential that valuable resources be discovered to encourage commercial investment. It will easily be the most difficult endeavor humans have ever attempted.

      I've started writting a series of shorts about the next 10,000 year.
      To be blunt... The Capitol is not name Muskington. We will get there, but not in a big way this century or next. Plus imagine the food requirements for even a few hundreds of people. Just that one necessity. At least 1,000 lbs per year per person. Americans average 2,000 now so high density food might get us down to 1,000.
      Even a small crop failure or a repeat supply issue and no one will stay there, or go.
      We'll need a base that has, and can repair or make everything important to life. One hiccup and it's nasty suffering time.
      Just being real...

      i can see two different ways to go at this point ... he can send a ship to mars and then have it wait there and then remote it back to earth ... to make certain the return with people is doable ... or build a toroid station in orbit of earth ... to train your crews on space flight and manufacture stuff in space to make a supply of back up parts for more landers ... then once you have every one you have figured you need for a colony on mars ... and loaded the orbiting station ... move that to mars ... start a new station at earth ... and use the mars station now as the orbiting control station and send landers down to find where you want to build then you can send resources from moons down and extra ores and supplies up to the station as needed ... then you not only get your main station up and working but you get trained people on it and have everything you need to start the colony once there ... and not have to rush to set anything up it all is currently running on the station to bootstrap the planet or a moon or an asteroid ... or a comet ... etc ... once you dont need the station where it is ... restock and refit it and then send it on to a new location to do its thing all over again ...

      @KWG Mars has water in form of ice. No trees? Obviously, if there were trees we would have gone there way long ago just due to motivation. Also you can't seriously expect humanity to stay on earth forever... spreading humanity onto two planets drastically increase the chances for our species to stay alive. He talks about a plan to put down plants, which in return gives oxygen, and also food. We can melt the ice, thus giving us water. His plan is not to ditch Earth and move everyone to mars, his plan is to just make humans live on multiple planets.

      I do indeed agree that my toes curled backwards.. Though, the question about employment was a good one as going to Mars simply can NOT be a US priveledge. Which made the follow up quesiton about "normal" people traveling to Mars and the requirement for that very relevant. She asked it wrongly though. As I said before, if space X now already has an ocean of problems hiring people from outside the US....i myself wonder how "national security" will go into effect when people actually will start going to Mars. I wouldnt be suprised it will be HIGHLY US citizen focussed. Space X should be a GLOBAL company and although right now i understand Elon has to stick to the US, but as soon as fracking possible they should relocate and reposition. But at the very least the people traveling to Mars have to be part and loyal to a global human endeavor. Not another "space race" between earth nations.

    • @aerohk
      @aerohk 8 лет назад +2

      OohzyJohnDow SpaceX relies on vertical integration to keep cost low. Metals go in, rocket goes out, unlike NASA/ULA/etc with thousands of suppliers. I don't think having offices throughout the country and the world is what Elon wants. I would think ones do not need to work for SpaceX to get a ticket to Mars. Any paying customers who passes a background check should be able to do so, just like riding on a plane.

    • @OohzyJohnDow
      @OohzyJohnDow 8 лет назад

      ***** That is indeed a nice assumption and yet the technology that might bring those humans there is highly protected and governmental organized. To be honest to one another, there is nothing that would stop the US government to claim exclusive rights to the usage of it, none what so ever. So I wouldnt be so easy in assuming.
      As for the cost, who says the US is the cheapes place to work and develop such project from? I could come up with a couple of other locations that might very well be cheaper ;) ..In the end my input in this is only directed the the possible restrictions placed due to the US production and protection focus.

      Just curious, but if Mars lost it's atmosphere due to it's core cooling, and the planet losing it's magnetosphere, IF we were to try to terra-form, what would stop the "new" terra-formed atmosphere from just blowing away (due to lack of magnetosphere)? That's the ONLY thing keeping Earths atmosphere from just blowing away (ie: solar wind), so wouldn't the same thing happen to Mars... again?

    • @nomadbound9610
      @nomadbound9610 5 лет назад +1

      @Ides of March because terraforming is a greater problem than "space robots" the fact is we would have to either build a terraformer here and launch to there and Hope it doesn't break along the way or build it there. but that isnt even as big of a problem as the magnetosphere issue. WITHOUT A MAGNETIC BARRIER THE PLANET IS USELESS! we would have better luck retrofitting the Russian Space Station into a giant colony flagship with a EM Drive and setting its course for the Kepler system.

    • @cadkls
      @cadkls 5 лет назад +2

      There's a proposed plan to have a solar powered magnetic field generator in space far away from mars to deflect solar winds and radiation. It works in a similar fashion as moving your hand closer to a ligjt source to block more of the light coming off it. A relatively small magnetic field could have the same effect as a planetary one if placed far enough away. Even having multiple generators would drastically improve its efficiency.

      I was hoping for that question too. But, i would like to know his thoughts about the ethical risk of terraforming a new world, in the event that it lead to a runaway problem creating a new equally noxious atmosphere. Who gets to make the decision of which method is right?? It would be ironic if we started terra forming in the next century only to find out that by 3000 AD etc, that we've screwed up and created an unfixable poisonous atmosphere.

While genetics plays a part in who is at risk of cancer, the leading scientist in cancer research has said that cancer is very much a metabolic disease. Cancer feeds on carbohydrates and sugars that we as humans so regularly consume. Research has actually shown that consuming a high fat low carb diet such as the ketogenic diet and regular 7 day water fasts has reduced the risk of developing cancer by 96 percent. Those who have already developed cancer according to research as well have shown that those who change to the same diet and fasting regimen have seen a reduced growth of cancer cells and have also seen reduced sickness during chemotherapy treatment, and a drastically decreased recovery time. As the other guy said... Decrease your carbs and sugar and we will see a drastic decrease of cancer in the world.

    To me the elephant in the room is the longterm effect of microgravity. Anyone wanting to return after several year on Mars wouldn't be able to stand up on earth. We saw the effect on the astronaut who spent a year in space. Granted that was zero gravity, but the effect was severe. It would be fun for a while to have "super Martian" strength, but it would deteriorate with time. No exercise program would keep your total body strength at three times what is necessary in the day-to-day activity. Ultimately, people would look very different. Earthers might be able to visit Mars, but those living or born on Mars wouldn't be able to visit Earth. Their perceived body weight would triple as soon as they landed here. Blood would pool in their lower extremities. I'd like to ask Elon about that.

      If they’re wearing an EVA suit their weight will be greatly increased, and if there are people on mars just lying around on their asses on mars, wasting food and adding to the amount of crap they deserve to die. After analyzing data from CRaTER on NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), scientists concluded the number of (galactic cosmic rays) GCRs is ramping up to reach the highest levels recorded since Sputnik back in 1957. As such, aerospace companies need to think more critically about how to protect astronauts in space. there is no current shielding against ionising cosmic ray particles, which cause cancer and damage major organs.
