Look recent investment in India on Electronic manufacturing, look the restricts and India Govt how forcing leading manufactures to make within India Electronic goods. That's good sign for electronic manufacturing. Last month 2024 January , one month electronic export is $22.5 billions. Tamilnadu is in leading last month in exports. Next two years we will cross per year $200 billion electronic exports, once Semiconductor chips manufacture comes into Indian market then with five years $350-400 billion electronics equipment exports takes places.
Just one month electronic export reached 22.5 blion dollars in January.
So one of the largest IT companies in Pakistan employs 2,000 workers. TCS in India employs 3,60,000 people. Their on-campus training center has 80,000 employees.
TCS have 2000 people in single floor
inshallah launching 5 to 6 digital products soon. (as a senior software engineer)

Being a software engineer myself, Pakistan’s intellectual and professional capacity is not at par with modern world to excel.
We have pockets of excellence but as a nation of 240 million we are at a poor level of education in general.
Why not pakistan is focusing on agriculture, u guys have fertile soil right.

Companies almost 250USD offer krti hain. Free lancer initially 1000USD earn kr leta hai. Wo kesey company ka employee bn skta hai?
He said this is short term gain that the freelancers are getting. Their growth will be less after 10 years as compared to a guy working in a company where you can learn more with more people around you.

It appears that the purported benefits of employment primarily favor individuals in positions of authority, rather than the broader workforce. Therefore, the CEO's rationale appears to be fundamentally flawed.

Gone are the good days of freelancing based personal growth
Pakistan should focus on their core strengths. They are extremely competent in various tasks. In fact they can create those industries in every home. For last 75 years they have done those tasks with world leading expertise. All of you know which expertise I am talking about. This expertise has now become identity of Pakistan. Such a strong recognition. They should build on that reputation. No one can out compete them in those high quality tasks .
That is the strength of Pakistan.
As an indian watching this , impressed with athar and his understanding of tech to change lives ... modi realized that in 2014 and then we are now racing to be the biggest economy in probably 2 decades ...
In my company, we posted jobs for Junior Front-End Dev, around 150+ applicants I rejected them all, none of them had the skills they should have as beginners.
I would request to host and guest both please launch new hiring in that big IT organizations to provide jobs and confidence to these new kids first. 2nd give them may be low offers with internal free learnings and trainings to improve their knowledge and skills with hands on job experience that will make a real difference
Everybody is missing the basic idea in this country...Freelancers are not the problem, infact there is huge room for more to be accommodated (quality workers). Problem is scaling up as companies. We need to encourage people to create partnerships, build companies....Now with wave accelerating for GIG economy, we just need to focus better on encouraging people to team-up, go for products exports (SAAS, Digital Products)...In years ahead you'll have two pillars.
A. Freelancers (Gig Economy)
B. Products Exports (Software companies focusing on products as well as services)
Now "B" is something that will help you fetch more $ in the country and eventually venture capitalists....

Great podcast! Got a pretty good insight about Pak tech sector and was shocked that our issues are mostly psychological based. Time stamps would have been better for those who can't listen to an hour long podcast.
Fee of Bachelor of Science Degree is costing PKR 20-Lakhs = and then to Purdue University USA costing USD 50K a year ===> this much of money spend onto Mr Ather Imran Nawaz - he is privileged and fortunate. A normal family cannot send his child to GIK......

Branding jobs are a part of advertising agencies not the IT industry. We sell logos starting from a minimum of 50,000 to 1 million, depending on a scope of work, and very few educated graphic designs can meet the client's needs.

Only Digitization can change the positive coarse of Pakistan.
So if you ask for well trained and experienced people are you paying them at that level NO, so why don’t you hire them may be on low package and trained them internally to make a best asset
reduce the FEE of private Universities make it equivalent to the earnings of normal Pakistani then you can produce genius...

Tech sector can't save Pakistan because the mentality of the nation and government. The nation mentality is that I should be having all the profit and fortune and no one else should be progressing. And government mentality is that it will increase educated class and as a result people will have power to challenge the status quo, so no reforms in PTA and no facility to tech sector should be given. These two reasons will not let Pakistan IT sector to explode and some other country, and most probably it will be either Bangladesh or Ethiopia will take the share which Pakistan had the opportunity to take.
We need more on this topic. And we want this to be realized by our so called Govt as well. And then take serious actions on serious notes.

Universities need to start delivering skilled graduates. Govt needs to make policies regarding IT supports. Support companies to go for ISO certifications or any other standards that are accepted world wide. Built trust with global players.

The main problem is the divide and rule policy from 75years which is very sad!
Sir internet band, signal band, social media band or ham plan kar rahay Tech sector kay potential unlock karnay ka. Why would somebody spend money and open an office in Pakistan in such conditions? I wonder how Cream and other ride services provided are surviving in Pakistan. We need stability in this country and law if we want to foster progress in this country not just in IT but in any sector. Without stability and policy implementation, nothing can happen.

The major issue is with Pakistan businessmen. But leaving that. Pakistan cannot grow in IT, if its own companies do not collaborate with Indian companies. Indian companies have perfected the GDM model. Now India is perfecting the GCC model. Even is a Pakistani company comes up, it can be outbid by its Indian rivals easily because of decades of experience, resources and maturity.
We in India know this. We cannot compete in manufacturing. That's why we are forcing Chinese, Western companies to build in India. We are not only focused on Indian brands only. Vietnam EV company VinFast is opening a plant in India. Israeli Chip company Tower will open a fabrication plant. That's how we are building our manufacturing
