- The guys are inspired to turn an old Wagoneer into a screaming street monster. They take an old 1986 Jeep Wagoneer, upgrade the axles, brakes, and suspension to be able to handle 707 horses, and become a ride like its never been before.

They really took the easy way out on this whole build. The jeep shold be 4X4 or AWD
Hemi/AWD, Like the track hawk they were driving in the video. Otherwise what was the point of the track hawk in the vid
That’s why is called trash hawk 🤦🏻
Nah. RWD for burnouts.
agreed 100% they should of put in a transfer case and made it 4x4 …
Seems like a waste of great parts, restored would be great.
4WD for sure, and a 4" suspension kit
The AWD system on the Trackhawk is what makes that much HP work in it without making it a complete death trap,so it’s kinda disappointing that this is only gonna be 2WD.
AWD is overrated . i take a 2 wheel drive Lamborghini any day over a AWD
@@funtyes1970 rear/mid engine makes a huge difference. There is no weight in the back of an old jeep. Makes it uncontrollable...as the former owner of a Challenger Hellcat. Let me explain from experience...
Two words bro, Drift Truck 👍👌🤘
@@richfarfugnuven6308so what your saying is you bought a high horsepower car and couldn’t handle it makes sense that’s how my dad got his cheap dude was scared of the car🤣
That's why it's called a "Trash Hawk".
"we saved money by going with oem brakes from rock auto"
"We are going to do spirited driving so we went to EBC brakes"
When you accidentally get two sponsors for the same part
That's all they got... Not a very high product endorsement but a bit above Al Bundy 😉
Probably talking about rock auto calipers and ebc pads
I can't believe they didn't upgrade the steering...😂😂😂
Bottom of the line KYB shocks, too.
It is a start...also, they will most likely revisit the steering and shocks as well.
Don’t need steering in a straight line lol
I agree, hearing them talk about the steering be trashy got me. I put a lot of work into my xj steering system and im not trying to do laps like they are lol.
They are not rock crawling, but yeah...might not be the optimal choice for changing direction quickly with precision.
I can get over the wheels, the LS, hole in the hood, but the 4 wheel drive should have been quintessential
No way 4x4 or AWD could have lived under that engine without doing something insane, like IRS and a TBSS oilpain/diff combo, or a 6 inch lift. There's no room.
@@BadHaddy Exactly! The keyboard warriors here are so demanding of their free content. Such a group of toxic haters.
These guys are all about building stuff. So yes, the content should be about that. Not some hack job any mouth breather can do!
@@dodgeguyz Any, lol.
@@Jules_73 sorry big guy, its not me who decided to call it a “trash-hawk”, they did, and in the build up they said the original is AWD.
You guys ALWAYS find the cleanest examples of vehicles and always at such good prices.
I believe that Jeep has been in a garage since new. Nothing is faded inside. Barely looks like it's been driven at all.
I have an 84 wagoneer and it's trashed lol. Only 1200 bucks though
It's a "show", guys! Things get "found" all over the place at "cheap" prices!
And then proceed to ruin them
they literally have people that find things,it's a TV show
With all the complaints on these comments, maybe it's a good thing they called it TrashHawk! 😂
1 person's trash, is another person's GOLD!!!
literally love the whole idea, but without AWD,it's not a clone and won't do what the hawk does in the street...
Watching those seats flex in the turns says it all.
Powernation RUclips tv channel viewer just on daily basis.Therefire being mechanic have learned alot from your channel. For instead I've learned more about LS engines rebuilding and many more .Thus don't stop broadcasting . Thanks powernation tv channel experts.
They put an LS in everything. It’s like they don’t challenge themselves anymore.
“And do it the way we want, at a fraction of the cost”- ha ha, sounds like me in my 20’s
I sold my 18 hawk and got a 2022 SRT Durango. We had another kid so I needed something bigger and I love it also. I do miss the Jeep.
The grip of the passenger on that handle is impressive
Best mod is the hood struts. By far.
Other than the 1980's Mustang that was built by y'all's "Sister Channel" this is my favorite build!
Ah yes
The skidmark f-body mustang?
Super awesome ride I need to restore mine after watching this just love the work
The LS is okay for the wrong situation but it really needs to be all wheel drive it doesn't make sense being a two-wheel drive hot rod
Would be strong enough with a Dana 44 from a Rubicon and that brake upgrade, but they would have had to figure out a way to lower it like they did.
so i guess muscle cars are 4x4? and people are still buying 2 wheel drive Lamborghini
I'm with this. I've been wanting to build a Comanche street truck for years but just haven't found a decent starting point for sale.
i love this thing for sure
LOL the dude driving the track hawk has a huge Hicky on his neck LOL!
The BEST name for a build ever.. it's the first time I see any of your episodes and the name got me.. 5 stars
56:58 OK there's no way these guys honestly believe that is a reasonable amount of pens to have in your shirt pocket.
lol they look funny
They aren’t all pens. I think there’s just one. Pat shows off all his “pocket equipment” in a video
The main thing I would change is I wouldn't have made it 2-wheel drive! It's a JEEP, they all should be 4-wheel drive!!
They probably would have had a transmission problem, akin to all the kids that want to use the Nissan RB26 engine.
@@kuahmelallah No, they simply didn't want to pay for a custom adapter plate for a transfer case. And other custom work to make it good. I think the motor ate up most of the budget on this one. These are pro's in a pro shop. Not kids in daddys garage. No comparison.
@@starbattles1 I doubt the engine was the budget eater a LS is pretty cheap to build
I agree
@@enjoythesho1992 That was a crate motor.
I love watching Marc drive it there, pure enjoyment.
Traction and stability control is a must with that much HP
Man Power Nation is the best. I've learned so much from y'all and would love to continue seeing more engine building videos
An '86 Wagoneer with a perfect interior for 2,000? Even with the broken crank....If anyone has one of these out there - I'm interested...
Yeah, I am an XJ person...I would have dropped everything to go buy that. Too bad they made it 2wd.
@@Rozza43 i think it work out great being 2x4 . some Lamborghini are still 2 wheel drive and i don't see people crying over it not being AWD or 4X4
@@funtyes1970 For one, it's being built in tribute of an AWD vehicle, two...almost all jeeps are 4 wheel drive. And Three, it was already 4wd.
When it comes to Lamborghini, they have only been using all wheel drive for 25 or 30 years, most every sports car was rear wheel drive before that.
@@funtyes1970 Nearly every powerful SUV is AWD, going back to the GMC typhoon/cyclone from the early 90s. All the weight is up front, so they hook a million times better with AwD.
Lamborghini are mid engine cars for the most part, so they have more weight over the rear axle to hook better. And you can get any 2wd Lamborghini in AWD if I'm not mistaken.
@@Rozza43 there a youtuber got a Lamborghini and it AWD and he removed AWD he only want back wheel power only for a tire slayer
Keep these videos coming 👍👍
Opens the back:you can start a family in here 😂😂
I love it good build guys it went together so easy! Almost can't believe it all those mismatched Parts working so perfectly together
I agree man everyone's hating but they never said they were aiming to make a high hp AWD jeep just high hp with big breaks and they did that
Marc was moving when he took over lol
3:00 I LOVE that you can see the blast from the exhaust thru the exhaust changes out the back window. BADASS!
doing engine swaps the LS is the smart choice for power. If you want to be some kind of special person, then go for more expensive engines that make the same or just a little more for $$$$ more.
Nice work guys!
The color combos are sweet!
flips down the back seat " you can start a family in here" LOL
Everything go so smoothly when you have everything at your disposal.i hope to get a shop that's up to par 🙏
Great build
I just got a 87 that looks just like it with a 4.0 and is 4x4 with the burgundy interior.. Been waiting to see another lol
Truly fkn. Awesome👍👍👍👍
Guys I'm so proud of you you made a dream Jeep Wagoner I had a stock one.
It’s actually pretty great if you stick with it
Need a whole restoration now. New steering, paint, interior
That was awesome
That unibody will bow like a banana before anybody can be disappointed by it being two wheel drive anyway, LOL!
That’s sick
Amazing
Awesome video guys!
That Wagoneer XJ was a survivor and clean! Shame to chop it up like that! You should have used any other generic XJ for this project.
Should have just swapped in a later GM V6 and supercharged that. Way too clean! Plus the engine bay is smaller in the 84-86 models. They completely redesigned the firewall to fit the 4.0L.
Word, I would have loved if they made it into a light off road rig than a rat rod, maybe with an upgrade engine and trans.
The V8 that came out was a gm engine from the s10
Good choice on the LS
Cool project, could have even put an independent front suspension to handle the road? Maybe another episode? :)
You lost me at 2wd. The AWD is what truly makes the Trackhawk special.
good project idea
Handles like a sports car, but steers like a box truck!
These guys are very smart people. They leave that hole in the hood right above and behind the radiator and fan, where rain water will go down and get blown all over the motor and all the electrical plugs and connections. Very smart people indeed.
Apparently they have unlimited funding, so it it gets ruined by water, they’ll just build another vehicle like it’s nothing. 🤷♂️
Lol! All modern engines wiring harness have weather packed connectors.
Nice work would love to own it !
A very nice job!
Ive been looking for rest of the episode powernation channel had me waiting
That much horsepower in a jeep that probably weighs a little over 3k pounds is crazy
The best bit - GLOVE SHIFTER! Love it!
On your new front brake kit, I noticed that the holes threw the bearing were missing the shafts and for a good reason, your going 2 wheel drive, but those bearings need the shaft end going threw and torqued to spec for preload on bearings, go back to the scrap yard pick up 2 ends and manicure the cup off with your oxy-acetylene nail file, you don't need the extra weight !
I was hoping someone else caught that. That front wheel will snap off
Supercharged LS, rwd and manual transmission this should've been called the ZR1J and everybody would be happy. But its nothing like a trackhawk if anything a challenger hellcat.
the woody look 😎👌🏽
The Hemi would’ve fit if they really wanted to try! For some reason they gave in to easy.
Thats Marc for ya
This is a sick idea
Yall should do a first gen explorer
Those rear axles aren't long for this world. :-)
Ya'll really think that fuel delivery is going to feed 800 hp? First time with boost??? That fuel system on the interior of the vehicle is stellar fore thought. Wow!
That was one clean Jeep Wagoner. It would have been great to have gone over it and kept it all original and preserved a classic. Then again, it does make for a good sleeper.
Trackhawks are amazing
Cant wait to see it do 180 at the strip.
For me, this is one of the best builds on YT. Love it, can't wait for more like it!
Sure it is
YJ is one of my favorite trucks.
This reminds me of the Grassroots Motorsports turbo Cherokee build for AutoX, really fun looking
that was such an inspirational build for me !
🤠 *You 2 Guys Are Outstanding, And A Great Example Of Methodical & Thorough Working Dream T.E.A.M.= Togetherness, Each Accomplish More 2 Geter Done, Having Fun* 😎
Agree with lightboy25 there is a reason you buy a track hawk usually you want the 4 wheel drive grab and alot of times you live up north where you have to deal with snow and ice and you want a super charged beast to go hawg off roading in the snow and ice.
Badass!
this is upgrade I want, need and desire. got an AWD Commander with an tired v6.
Sweet
At 58 min. He thought a tire shimmy was death wabble.... 🤣 😂
Yo sick, just the kind of vehicle I really like
Love these and can you do a Jeep Commache? The Grandpa of the Gladiator.
So I'm watching this, then all of the sudden BOOM! Mustache out of nowhere!
goodafternoon, I have a 1990 wagoneer (jx) model and I'm having trouble finding replacement parts for the two markers in the grill and the two other side markers. please help me find where I can buy replacements. thankyou
I love the monstrosity you guys have created!!!! It pushes back making an electric battery operator future project I was thinking for a similar monstrosity now I am planning with a 1960 CJ6 - V8 LS.
Pat has to hang that shirt with all the pens remaining in it... LOL
The only thing that I could see that would make that thing better is a Crown Vic front suspension
1986 Jeep Wagoneer
The main thing I would change is I wouldn't have made it 2-wheel drive! It's a JEEP, they all should be 4X4 or AWD drive!!
Ended up being nothing like what it was supposed to be and I’m surprised it didn’t fall apart on first run
so disappointed that they didn't change the steering. they swapped to the WJ knuckles, but still went with the Y-link steering instead of crossover. Would have been such an improvement, esp for track days
I don't mind it being 2wd but wish it was lower. There was a pick up race series long ago and the fastest trucks on the track were some how the solid axle Comanches.
I have a cherokee in the back I am doing this to one day. But I am keeping it lifted and 4x4 capable. Soon as I finish the 2 other car projects I have LOL.
Like ridiculously insane lol
Felicidades son unos maestros, pero no debieron sacrificar la 4x4. Le quita su esencia de todo terreno a pesar de mucha potencia.
They made Honda Civic with 200hp and put roll cage in it.. They made old jeep with ton of HP and no roll cage.
8:52 "You could start a family in here."
"Let's get it in the air and see what's going on underneath."
"Yeah, that's how you start a family!"
I am old enough to remember Jeeps Cherokee commercials from the late 70s on TV...They use to show a bunch of desert and then the announcer would just say: "The Cherokee Chief is coming! The Cherokee Chief is coming near you!" I remember my mother one time asking: "Who the hell is this Cherokee Chief that is coming, but just not arriving! Arrive already!!!" It is funny now!!!
Now this Cherokee would have been awesome with an old school 440 Hemi connected to a smooth 5/6 speed! with an all time AWD transfer case and 4 sticky tires!!! Lets not forget the 14:71 Lysholm supercharger on top of that thing with electronic fuel and spark...say 16 injectors, 8 at the manifold 8 at the bottom of the hats!!!
On another note: I would actually like to see some penny pinching builds, instead of using 3k plus 6 speeds with another 3 K's worth of peripherals to use it, not to mention a 10k LS motor, toped with a 6 k supercharger and such!
Let us have a build where the goal and the budget are to make them as cheaply as possible without say "finding parts under the cupboard" type situations and see who can make what with how much and with what type of performance!!!
The Inline 6 was not an option until 1987 in which the engine compartment was lengthened in order for it to fit. Many of tried and failed to get an inline 6 to fit into and '84-86 Cherokee as it requires a lot of firewall modifications.
Super sick! What a cool, different, out of the box, with the added plus of some good ol' fashion cost savings for the everyday hard working American who wants to build one, because he can actually afford something like it, build. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👉
