0:00 intro
3:03 The immortal jellyfish
13:56 Hoatzin - the ruminant bird
22:33 The kitten eating crab
30:56 Dumbo octopus
40:04 outro Животные
These two look familiar 🤔
"Alveus Sanctuary" sounds familiar 🤔
This is AI generated, isn't it... 🤔
Mayo
Topic Suggestion: _Tardigrades_ aka _Water Bears_ aka _Moss Piglets_
(also... lmao at Maya saying she's 5ft, because she's said on a PO Unboxing that she is 5'2" 😋 I guess it depends on if she has her platform shoes on? 😏 [I'm not making fun, I've dated women her size and completely understand lol])
I was thinking the same thing! So weird, right?
World GAYEST animal (not a joke, I’d like to learn more about how rare and/or common gay relations are in the animal kingdom)
I believe it's some kind of bat interestingly enough!
living in a mountain town during rut season the smaller elk who just became sexually active will hump each other rather than challenge the big assed dangerous alpha bull.
Lol, so the happiest animal?
Or animals that are naturally trans, would be good content.
I actually just realise how many social media accounts, podcasts, streams and videos maya does in a week.
Its crazy when you think about it how well she maintains all of them and continuously makes something.
Maya you don’t have to do a stream every day. 1 for main maya channel and one for alveus a week is allready good.
I just love everything thats all.
The youtube channels at minimum aren't done by her so that's good lol
Yea she’s an incredibly hard worker
CLAP for the editors and behind the scenes people that do most of the work but fr from wine about it, mayas channel and alveus with its multiple streams a week AMAZING WORK PEOPLE
Don't forget that she ALSO makes crafts to sell, *_and_* still has time for a significant other!
If anyone needs a role model, Maya should be their top choice! The woman is an inspiration...
@@DUKE_of_RAMBLE Maya is just the best. She is by far the most wholesome person in the world en on the Internet. She just makes me smile every time.
It'd be cool to have a "world's most common" to learn more about the animals we see every day.
Actually!
Connor - “how’d they even find them?”
Maya - “I don’t know, I wasn’t there”
5:08
Exactly the type of information I was hoping for from this podcast.
25:34 I wholeheartedly thought she said that they eat birds and kids, I’m crying
Sameeeee
I DEFINITELY HEARD KIDS 😂
@@Dwoalin they can bench the equivalent weight of a 10 year old child
'Potentially ate Amelia Earhart' is CRAZY
clickbait title: Giant Crab Eats Amelia Earhart
Yeah its crazy cause we all know thats a fact
i would love to see a “most like us” episode in the future :0 like animals that are the most similar to humans in how they behave- i think it could encourage more empathy towards our fellow animal species :-)
31:38 love the idea of using maya as a unit of measurement
Worlds - Sneakiest, Youngest, Busiest, best dancers, best singers, loudest, best senses, best hidden talent, best riz, best teamwork, worst teamwork, fluffiest, softest, hardest, wiggliest, densist, sweetest, most famous, funniest, most efficient, laziest, longest, hungriest, most creative, most varied (within the one species), hottest, coldest, dopplegangers
Fungal spores can go into a dormant state when experiencing stress. The immortal jellyfish seems like that on steroids.
Damn I’m fungal spores
Worlds Oldest, Worlds Hungriest, Worlds Loneliest
So happy to listen to these two brains for 45 minutes!
For a halloween episode, a theme of fungi that do horrifying things. Like the snail one that goes into their eyestalks and the ant nervous system one
Who else is watching this and Connors only fans stream at the same time(installing fans for the wolf enclosure)
lul only fans and 1v1-ing a yellow jacket with only a fan
use commas dawg
@@cillnoIt's actually not that offensive without them. It doesn't change the message they were conveying.
Unlike *this* message, which _drastically_ changes:
"It's time to eat grandma!"
*- vs -*
"It's time to eat, grandma!"
@@DUKE_of_RAMBLE i was talking more about the ledgability of it rather than the meaning
@@cillno That's what I was referring to by 'offensive', as it wasn't at all painful to read.
THE TREE! THE LOG! THE LEGEND!
Okay but hear me out... and ACTUAL TREEHOUSE enclosure or studio at Alveus would go INSANE
36:14 Maya going for the Anglerfish strat 😂
For real though this is probably going to be my new favorite podcast. Definitely considering that patreon
I would appreciate a episode on "living fossils" for example The Tuatara, Coelacanth and Horseshoe crab.
this is my dream podcast!! i love learning about interesting animals and love long form content! I would suggest doing deep sea creatures as they are extremely interesting and diverse, also insects because I love them.
Might I also suggest SciShow tangents! I love their Ant episode
Will there ever be guests for this pod? someone like Lindsay Nikole would be really cool
If maya ever did yt shorts or TikTok’s like Lindsay, they would pop off
world's best podcast?? no way LETSGOOO
Yesss first episode let's get educated!!
I am stoked for this series. What a cute studio set up too!
I've heard of the first two of these four creatures, and you did a very good job at breaking down their special abilities (I never quite understood how the immortal jellyfish worked until Maya's explanation; Also never heard that Hoatzin chicks drop into the water to escape from predators, that seems crazy). Great first episode :)
Since you asked for ideas on future episodes:
One animal fact that really surprised me when first hearing about it is how low the success rates per hunting attempt of most predators in the wild actually are. Would love en episode on the most/least successful hunters and how they achieve their success or, in the case of the least successful ones, how they're able to survive despite their low success rates.
I thought you meant human hunters and was like why would they praise people shooting animals? Makes so much more sense now 😂
"...low success rates..." I guess Georgie the Frog could be a guest for that episode 🐸.
Humans hunting does have its positives for the ecosystem though @@18puppies91
The trailer was great already and the studio looks even better 😮
im so excited for this podcast!! maybe like 'worlds fastest and slowest' in different environments. or just opposite ends of the spectrum comparisons
i am so excited cant wait for more episodes
as soon as heard about this podcast being in the making I instantly knew it's gonna be epic. Now as I'm watching the very first episode, I'm a 100% sure: IT'S GONNA BE MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PODCAST EVER!!!
mayas face in the intro is absolute peak. im laughing so hard rn jsdgfh
I've always wanted an Alveus Sanctuary x Lindsay Nikole collab! But I didn't know how such could organically occur as (to my knowledge) Lindsay isn't a streamer. World's Wildest would be the perfect spot for these two worlds to collide!! 🙏
LOVE THIS IDEA!! I know this is for animals but if would be really cool to see other kingdoms highlighted, like crazy fungi or plants! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
The set's so cute! Always love to see more Connor content
"world's most colourful" would be cool
Topic ideas
-worlds smartest animals
-worlds oldest animals species
-the longest living animals (like their life expectancy)
-worlds most life threatening animals
-animals with the slowest/fastest birth rate
-rarest birds in the world
Im so excited about this, Maya’s previous educational vids have been such a blast and this is gonna be a really fun time learning about the crazy creatures of the world
so cute love the set. Im happy for not only new podcast but an animal one with MAYA and connor, so excited
coconut crabs - one of my first obsessions in my early days of internet, they're so goofy. i love them
audio listeners the set is sick
That was so much fun! I'm already looking forward to the next one. It would be super helpful for us listeners who are not from the USA if you could also specify the size units and weight information for us in the metric system, like Connor has already tried. I would really appreciate it!
8:13 somebody better get that tea kettle
Great first episode! Apreciate both of you describing the pictures that you show so well, means a lot to audio listeners and people that cant always look at the screen. Excited to see where yall go from here!!!
World's fastest for land, sea, and air would be cool. So excited to listen to you guys talk about your passions
I just started watching this video but this set looks soooo good oh my god. The tree actually looks so realistic like genuinely. It’s so cozy and cute and perfect for the vibes!
Maya is just the best. She is by far the most wholesome person in the world and on the Internet. She just makes me smile every time. She just so funny and has the best vibe.
oh yeah woo yeah
Love the idea of this podcast as a lover of fun animal facts!
Voldemort should have turned himself into an immortal jellyfish, damn!
I think an episode on underappreciated animals would be super cool. I'm a huge tarantula fan and it's a bit upsetting that people get scared of an animal that is really only ever defensive and is unlikely to ever be aggressive. My tarantulas run and hide the second i lift their enclosure for maintenance, real aggressive animal behavior.
Videos of mine moulting ALWAYS attracts attention, so people are interested, they are just misinformed about them which leads to a fear of them.
WOW what a start!! Love the episode, love the energy!! Learned about the immortal jellyfish in class, but not in such details. I'd love to hear about crazy adaptation in extreme environment (like in deserts, deep caves, etc), or more genetic stuff!!
Favorite fun fact: Octopodes is also a third term used for plural octopus
already watched on patreon but here for the algorithm
this is exactly the kind of podcast I've been missing in my life, loved it :)
I LOVE THIS PODCAST! I frickin love learning about animals and I’m so happy you guys started this!!!!
Totally awesome set! The rest is amazing for sure!
yayy! i can’t believe this is out + the set looks incredible and the topics are so interesting! the thought y’all put into this is very much so seen and appreciated
This is great! Love the set! That tree looks real! TY Maya and Connor!
THIS WAS SO FUNNY AND ENTERTAINING!! I'll be thinking about the crab and "jellyfish" for longer than I'd like lol.
I loved watching "The Most Extreme" on Animal Planet as a kid. I'm really excited to see the same idea done as a podcast.
Really excited to find your podcast and other channels because I need a specific amount of animal related educational content to control my anxiety. Thanks for all the work you dooo
Most influential on human evolution/modern technology(bird beaks for bullet trains kind of thing), most symbiotic to each other, most under represented
amazing. so happy about the conversions too since im EU and i dont have to look them up every time.
some critique: maybe this is because english is my second language (so not your fault) but i actually didnt know about birds "crops" or that theyre called that! whole time i was thinking about food :D
anyway im really happy about this i love learning this stuff and telling other people about it!!! go alveus go connor go maya !!!!!!!!!!
A series on Mayas main channel where her and Connor try to do animal challenges would be cool
such a good concept and great first episode!! so excited for more :) also love that you guys use the metric system as well!
good on YT for recommending this to me. I'm usually late to the party on these things.
I had a hunch this podcast would be amazing and i was right , everything about it is perfect !! The set is fire and the hosts are even better .! Love seeing Maya and Connor's chemistry !!
Extreme environments is always a cool one! Coldest, hottest, highest pressures, darkest, driest, etc
I'm so excited for this podcast!! Love the set, looking forward to watching and listening every week! 😊
Wow so wild, that Connor guy is really cool. KAKAW
I can't get over how great Maya's tree looks...
33:26 Water is densest at about 39F/4C. If it were colder and there were no even colder water above it, it would float up and mix with warmer water.
Maya thinking the regurgitating to pass on the bacteria to break down leaves is gross makes me wonder if she knows how koalas do it.
4:15....Looks like a box-jelly fish , sort of...26:07...Christmas crabs ( those red ones on Christmas Island " shake " their eggs the same way into the water , land crabs in the Bahamas do the same thing..)
Very entertaining first episode! I'm thrilled for the next one! Thanks Conner and Maya.
Love this so much!!❤ learned a lot and had fun listening, you two have great conversational chemistry!
what a great set
I love this podcast!!! You guys should talk about Tuataras sometime if you want, I won’t give any spoilers but they’re very interesting!!
This set is so cozy love it ! Good job!
Coconut crabs are terrifying because it's trial by fire from day one. It's all they know.
My zoology interest is so happy to have a place to learn more with cool people
Loved this! So excited to learn more about animals with y'all ❤️
YAYYY been so excited for this!!!
The immortal jellyfish just going the phoenix route is kinda cool.
This was genuinely awesome
Listened to half of this episode on Spotify, but rewatched the entire episode here cuz of the fire set 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This jellyfish sounds more alien than most alien creatures in comics
This is amazing, I’m so glad you guys started this. Thanks for all the education over the years Maya, I’m excited for this new journey 🌏🩵
Been so patient waiting for the first episode to drop and glad to say it was a banger!! Can’t wait for the next one :D
Thank you guys so much for starting this pod! I needed something to take me away from focusing so much on what the human species is doing right now. Appreciate you! Also, WOW Immortal Jellyfish wtf??
alveus has taught me to find a new appreciation for insects and i respect their biological function but now i've learned there's only one animal i fear more than a centipede, and it's that monstrous crab
Really fun and interesting, I’ll be tuning in for future episodes!
This is so good, can't wait for future episodes.
Heck yeah, i was waiting for this!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JUST THE KIND OF PODCAST IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!!!
Love this, Im so excited. I dont know how Im gonna explain this and this comment will probably go into the void but I have to try. When you do the Alveus educational streams you always talk about how back in the day people injected frogs with female urine to know if the woman was pregnant or not. In the early 1900s a prince and a physiologist "accidentally" discovered what we now call anaphylaxis.
Would be interesting to hear if there are more situations like these, idk what or how but maybe there is something out there.
Okay Connor with the casual biologist flex go off king
Hi Maya and Connor! Loving this and nerding out. This is a great idea and has a lot of potential for varied topics and compelling conversations. Some future suggestions might be having guest specialist biologists and evolutionary geneticists from around the world to explain some of the wild things that have been found, how they came to be and how detailed research will help with ecological preservation and management for the future.
Also, set looks amazing Maya. You killed it! Great first ep!
super excited for this, would love to see a wordls most suprising unexplainable behaviors ep! ❤️
This just released as Connor wacks a yellow jacket in the 30x30 because it stung him lol
so glad to listen to this podcast as a new fan of alveus its cool to listen to yall talk about animals even more in a conversational way. i only knew the coconut crab thing about amelia earhart and that the dumbo octopus' existence thru animal crossing tho blathers definitely didnt explain all that connor covered lol. this pod is excellent to listen to while i work so cant wait for more!
