I just want to say that I enjoy how calm his voice is and the fact that he remains calm throughout the video. I feel like this is the kind of unboxing video where you can kick back and enjoy the nostalgic artwork. It's like a bunch of gentlemen around a big fireplace in comfy armchairs with big cigars leisurely discussing pokemon. Keep up the great work PTP.
Oh God, the memories of watching these types of channels when I was younger. I'm feeling a lot of nostalgic feelings since you were one of my favorite channels back then. I just rediscovered this channel after at least 5-7 years. Thanks for the great memories. I hope younger Pokemon fans can enjoy this as much as I did. :) Edit: UnlistedLeaf was also a channel I enjoyed. I remember you sent a comment to this channel (Primetime) and he responded. It was an amazing feeling, I even planned on sending fanmail to UnlistedLeaf, but I never got around to it. These types of videos are amazing and I love that you're still doing it. Keep making childhoods great. Keep up the great work
It's awesome watching you open this, you even seem excited when you pull rare trainers, I don't blame you though, must feel so great opening a fresh box of 36 Base Set booster packs. :)
To think getting one of these would set you back $20k nowadays. Insane times. Awesome pulls! I’m not much of a vintage guy myself since HGSS era is when I got into the cards, but man I can just feel the history and nostalgia when I see these old sets unboxed
It is certainly crazy how drastically prices have increased on boxes like these. Unfortunately that has made me unable to afford vintage products, but at least in the past I could open them on my channel and have those memories.
The first pack you opened gave me shivers. It is the exact same pack I opened in the year 2000 when I was only 8 years old or something. The same order of pokemon cards even! I remember buying it from a stand in florida and the stand was selling single cards. I was still fresh to pokemon but I remember me and my brother agreeing on buying a pack and if we both dont get what we want we'll buy the singles! I wanted a blastoise and my brother wanted gastly! We pulled both from the pack and were really happy! While I was watching this video I knew you would get a blastoise because every time you changed a card I remember holding in my hand and fliping through. Amazing!
Need some help guys! What were the only holos from the base set that could be found in booster packs? besides machamp, I recently found out ninetales, hitmonchan, mewtwo, & gyarados could be found in theme decks. So in that regard, what would you consider the order of rarity of the 16 holo base set cards? Thanks!
Machamp couldn't be found in booster packs, the Pokemon you pointed out you could get in theme decks too, all other holo cards were only available in the packs.

Geez, I remember watching you ages ago when I was a little kid, came across this video and saw 'PrimetimePokemon'. Good job man, proud of you that you're still going strong
Ah man i remember watching you open this when i was a kid and couldn't even afford to buy packs for retail in stores. It's quite sad to see how the card game has just become a hypebeast thing nowadays with guys like logan paul ballooning the prices and making it impossible to even get normal sets anymore
The original base set of Pokémon cards was the best. Back when finding a rare holographic actually meant something and was very hard. Now a days booster packs come with 3 holographics, 1 reverse holographic and freaking all rare cards, and if you didn't get a card you wanted, just get on ebay and buy it for 5 dollars. Back when this set was around, did you want a holographic Blastoise? Well you better have known somebody who owned one and was willing to trade it to you.
+Cameron Lynch I was over exaggerating and I no longer collect cards but once every blue moon (once a year or once every 2 years), I'll a couple of boosters and I legit get 1 holo and 1 reverse holo in every single pack.
You're guaranteed 1 star card, it was just a matter of getting the one you hoped for. I was fortunate to pull holographics from a lot of my packs. I used to say "I could feel the holo" when I'd pick them out xD I have no knowledge of how pack content works after Neo Revelation. If what you're saying is true about getting multiple holographics and stuff then wow lol.... I still love pokemon, but I would not go back into it again since basically all my cards are not tournament legal in any format. I played Yu-Gi-Oh in 2004-2005. It wasn't until last year that I took Magic The Gathering seriously, I play an awesome format that doesn't rotate cards out. But yeah it is nice to just buy the cards you need online, it's more cost efficient.
i actually remembered pulling holographics semi commonly back then lol. then again i was a lil bastard and stole all my packs of cards from target rofl.
It was rollercoaster of emotion watching this. Part of me hated seeing the unsealed box opened. However, watching the anticipation of opening each pack brought back so many memories.
He said $619.00. That price increase 1,000,000 times that now lol. “Only going to go up in the future.” Listen to this man predict the future. Very wise purchase.
Yeah a few years back when I was younger my babysitter's neighbor gave me his whole Pokemon card collection and the majority was 1st edition shadowless which I still have to this day hehe
I remember when I was a kid (roughly 7 years old), my aunt got me and my cousin a booster of a very old set. Unfortunately I didn't get nice pulls but my cousin got a Zapdos and we freaked out. Very nice video
Awesome seeing a box of these get opened up. I remember back when I was young my TRU store had a big brown box just full of Pokémon packs of cards from this set, and I would always pick packs that had Charizard on the cover. I'll never forget the day I pulled a Charizard from one of those packs, I was so excited! That Mewtwo card is still one of my all time favorite looking Pokémon cards of all time. Thanks for the video, it was very cool to see a box of these get opened up.
Eventually these booster packs are all going to be extinct, including the 1999 fossil sets. I'm keeping all mine sealed just to keep that nostalgia alive. I remember my dad used to work across the street from Wizards, so he'd go in once every couple weeks to get the packs before they got shipped out for testing or into stores...if only I knew how valuable those packs were back then.
Yeah, but I opened all of them. I was in Kintergarten at the time. I remember pulling a Charizard EX from one of the later 2004 packs that they released along with Sapphire...I also remember it being stolen and lost on my elementary school playground. That was like ten years ago, though, back in preschool/elementary. My point is: hit amazon or ebay, don't worry about the price, buy some sealed packs, and just keep em mint and don't open them. In 10 years, I guarantee you the few remaining boosters are gonna go for 100+ bucks each.
Ahhhh. I think your channel was one of the first ones that got me into youtube! I was originally a pokemon back opening channel like yours, that didn't get very far. Now I'm more into the youtube Gaming scene with Markiplier, Game Grumps, and Tech reviews like MKBHD and Unbox Therapy. But it is so nice to come back to what got me into youtube in the first place.
Help!? so whats the difference between this on and the one that has the 1st edition on the right side of the box . does this one say 1st edition on the card too? chance of charizard 1st edition?
There was this tip online that I read when I was a kid that said if you open the charizard booster that is the darkest color (the packaging would vary from light orange charizard, to dark orange) would give you an actual charizard card. I went into my local shop and asked if I could search through their charizard packs and pick the one I wanted.. and they let me. On my ride home, I opened them. And bam. Charizard. Its a memory from my childhood that I will never forget.
Watching this video immediately brought me back to being 8 years old and could remember the sensation of opening those packs. Thanks for making this video!
'' A Pokemon Base Set Booster Box is opened in this video. This is the 3rd booster box I've opened in my 16 Pokemon Booster Box opening '' I read your comment, then the description. I giggled.
Out of curiosity, what would be the purpose of opening the box? Is there potential to have the accumulated worth of all the mint condition cards to be more profitable than the unopened box itself? One would think that an unopened box would be worth exponentially more as they would be much rarer than individual cards. An example of an item being worth more than the sum of its parts.
The main reason I opened this box is just to relive some great memories from my past and open the first set ever made in the Pokemon TCG. With how high the prices are on these older sets it would have been more profitable to leave the box sealed, however, I did pull all three of the main cards and I sent all of the holo cards in to get graded, by doing this, I would say I easily made my money back because you're looking at at least $50 a graded card on average times 12 holo cards which would be 600, add in the Charizard which is worth much more than that and I made my money back if I ever would decide to sell my cards.
I know that, but even in the anime, and in the original games, Koffing and Nidorino are not grass types. Aren't the cards based pf the games and anime?
In the anime and games for example Koffing is a poison type, but in the TCG there is not a poison type for Pokemon, so they are split between grass and psychic, that is the reason Pokemon like Nidoran have a couple of different types in the TCG, psychic, grass, and colorless.
You keep such a positive attitude when you keep pulling rare trainer cards lol

Will you do a recap of all the cards you got graded?
Yes, I definitely will.
I remember I used to watch this guy when I was like 8. Man was literally a big inspiration!
Nidorino a grass type?
5:12
Yes, Pokemon types are different in the TCG, there are less types than the games and anime.

"And the price of these boxes are only really going to go up in the future."
Oh man, you have no idea how right you were, PrimetimePokemon from 2014!
insane to see how much you paid for this, that's how much you would get an empty box for nowadays

Thanks for saying that I have the best channel :)
Woow a sealed box unlimited print is now 5000 bucks oof
Well that's another sealed booster gone 😒
+dingwei7 well whats the point in paying 600+ dollars for a booster box just to leave it on a shelf gathering dust?
+TheSuperGamer1122 it will rise in price though
+dingwei7 He payed for it he can do what he wants with it
+That dank guy what's your point?
+That dank guy Ugh, that "point" feels like such a dodge, since that's not in question. >_,
Out of curiosity, what would be the purpose of opening the box?
Very cool. Thank you for the video, the nostalgia, and the response.
You're welcome.
Nostalgia
it really seems like you can only get holos thats how good the pulls were!
Couldn't have asked for a much better box, that is for sure.
never heard of a bulbazoor before
Your videos are awesome Primetime, I’ve only recently discovered them and wish that I could have been following along all this time!
Ptp, why are Koffing and Nidorino grass?!? They are not duel types.
You'll have to ask Wizards of the Coast that one, but there are fewer types in the TCG than the games.
I know that, but even in the anime, and in the original games, Koffing and Nidorino are not grass types. Aren't the cards based pf the games and anime?
Somewhat yes, but not exactly.
PrimetimePokemon What do you mean, sorry for taking too much time to respond, I've been away.
In the anime and games for example Koffing is a poison type, but in the TCG there is not a poison type for Pokemon, so they are split between grass and psychic, that is the reason Pokemon like Nidoran have a couple of different types in the TCG, psychic, grass, and colorless.
its not bulbazaur its bulbasaur whith an s .
its not whith its with without an extra h
lmao
His pronunciation really bugged me aswell lol. Arca-nine?!! Its ar-k-nine but whateves 😂
