It's so wild seeing these old packs being opened. I remember my 10th bday in 2000, my mom gifted me 3 1st edition base set booster packs. In 1 of those packs was a 1st edition Charizard. All the kids were screaming and hollering. 1 kid offered his whole collection for the card lol.. I'm not sure what happened to the card but it disappeared not long after. We had a sleepover after my bday party that day and I think one of the kids stole it. Wish I would have given it to my mom for safe keeping. Oh well... At the time, the card was worth $150 according to the Beckett pricing magazines.
i was born in 1995, i had dozens and dozens of first edition cards, holographic zapdos i had all of those first edition cards, my neighbor was 11 in 1999 and collected from day 1. and in 2002 he threw out every single one of his cards (hundreds and hundreds) out of his window, and all the kids ran and scooped. i had binders full of pokemon cards 1999-2002, these videos haunt me
Lol I was spending 500$ a week of my dad's coins on 1st ed, we all had tons of Charizards in proper cases, lol all got rid of those for nearly nothing, If I remember like 100$ for Charizard
OMG I wish... I remember the very first pack of cards I bought I was in fourth grade back in the 90s these were the coolest thing that came out during my time as a kid I remember getting my game Boy color too and playing the games Non-Stop I felt like I was ASH😎
I dont, i had so many hollows from this pack. Almost all of them. My mother threw out my cards when i was a teenager because we didnt use them. Over 10,000 cards in the trash. Crazy right?
@@jansentrichas8635I never got into Pokémon, but I did collect sports cards starting when I was about 11 years old. If either of my parents threw out something that I had collected or really valued, I would've left immediately... yes, even as a kid. Luckily my parents respected other people's property and weren't freaks.
My brothers had 4 first edition charizards at once as kids. My dad has a picture of them all side by side. Before they moved out of our childhood house, they gave 2 of them to their friends, lost one in the move. And kept one eventually lost. Life is crazy!!
Man I remember when I was a kid Pokemon cards were gonna be big. Probably the first time I learned a bit about business. I saved a couple weeks allowance, bought a pack, and started trading at school. Found a music store in town that dealt with individual cards. After about 4 years I had accumulated a nice collectiin of holigraphic (at least 6 Charizards included) 1st additions along with about 50 unopened packs that I planned to stash away just like my dad did with his baseball cards. I came home after a weekend stay at my dad's house to find out my mom's boyfriend rummaged through my room and swiped all of my cards to buy meth. That killed the hobby for me, but wow I wish I would have had the opportunity to stick to it.
@wahmaster2788 Thanks man. I still love Pokemon but it's just never been the same since, you know? Now that the meth head is way out of the picture I'm finding joy in card collecting again. Since the vintage has left a bad taste in my mouth with all that, I've decided to work on collecting Japanese SIRs as a breath of fresh air. I love the artworks. This is my first venture back into collecting since that whole theft issue which was back in 2005. Would love to try to replace my first edition collection but I'd have to pay 10x nowadays lol
Sounds like your dad made a good choice leaving your mom. Now that you're older im sure you see it, also now that your older its a good time to beat the brakes off your mom's bf.
I was 12 and 13 years old in 1999 and 2000, and I was so into Pokémon and Pokémon cards! I had so many good cards that would be worth well into the 10's of thousands of worth of cards, if not more!
Seeing Electabuzz and Hitmonchan pulls really takes me back. I was 14 when this TCG came out and played it a ton with my buddies. Ran a deck that was known as "Haymaker" that used Electabuzz, Hitmonchan, Scyther, and Tauros. Whole deck ran on Fighting and Lightning energy with Double Colorless being incredibly strong on Scyther. Bill, Professor Oak, Energy Removal, Gust of Wind...the deck was so ridiculously strong. Thinking back on my collection, I'm probably sitting on thousands of dollars in cards in my card vault in the basement, haha. Thanks for the nostalgia PokeRev!
That would take forever to tally up...also depends if you're talking raw value, or graded value in say PSA 9 or PSA 10. But just the Charizard holo alone goes for $4-5k raw, and $220,000+ in a PSA 10
@@Lozanofineart sorry for spoiling it for you but the last place I’m looking before watching a video is the comments. I’m not the only one who’s commented this. There’s hundreds like mine. Sorry trio
this is an unbeatable comment and scenario... this is true, on my life... I had, like so many others, a 100 page binder full of insane cards. Between my sister and i, we had 4-7 Holo sleeved shadowless Charizards, at least 5 Holo Blastoise, and several other very rare cards..... The day the first Charizard sold for over 40k, i immediately called my mom, and asked where my binder was.... long story short, she sold it at a garage sale because we were very poor, for only $5..... Someone bought over 250k in cards for $5..... i still cannot swallow this fact. genuinely i feel nauseous everytime i think about it..... congrats on the pull.
Your story is almost the same as mine except for one thing....I have no idea what happened to my old Pokemon cards. I had so many! I'm thinking that my mom got rid of them but I don't really know. Either way still sucks loool 😂 but it's all good since I've gotten back into Pokemon. I'll collect many of them again. I think me and you have time to collect and just have a good time. I know it's easier said than done but, try to not think about the past that way. Let's try to have fun now! Cheers bro
I had a similar story. Except instead of being sold at a garage sale, my mom gave it to my aunt for some stupid time capsule for her work. They're all buried somewhere until 2100 or something lol
Sold my 15 Bitcoins during the 2020 down turn for 7500 Dollar and never got back in. Missed the biggest bull run. Biggest miss ...Almost took my life because I couldnt bare the pain and stupidty. Now finally got over it but it still hunts me now and then. Everything happens for a reason... If you sold your cards for 250K you might have gone on a trip and got killed in a car crash etc... stay positive brother. Life is precious. Live life, call your mother and tell you love her. God bless
When I was 11 I suffered a serious head trauma so I can’t quit remember Pokémons’ release. What I do remember is I wasn’t able to get the game until later. As a child I liked the series.
Lol I had binders and binders of all of foils *10, would spend like 1.5k a month on them when my dad was balling then. Hahaha, it's actually hilarious people pay 200k for the box. They were like 200$ and you could easily find them for like 100$-150 CAD in corner stores
Idk bro, tbh just started watching some of his videos cause the collection he reviewed just recently of all the Charizards. I would like to believe a defect brings value like older money, but that’s debatable.
@@UnknownPCstream Every shadowless - 1st edition English base set Bulbasaur has this error. It isn't just this card. So no, it doesn't change the value.
I remember playing Pokemon Blue on Gameboy, and being excited for the TCG to come out. When it did, my mom bought me a bunch of these booster packs. That was the week it hit shelves in either 1999 or 2000, I can't remember. A few years later when I was in 7th grade, I sold all of my pokemon cards at a garage sale for $5.
I lived in Hawaii in 1990’s. When I moved in 2000, I brought this full sealed box to Goodwill. Someone gave one to me on my birthday..I never opened it. They explained the game and I thought it sounded so nerdy.
In 1999, I owned a shipping company and one of the containers half filled with these boxes of cards was lost at sea 3 miles off the port of Long Beach. There were 12,000 boxes in the container. I wonder where it is today.
Kids nowadays have no idea what it was like to save and save and save to buy 1, maybe 2 packs a week, only to have several weeks of just trainer cards with no rares 😩
I gave away a pretty big collection including first addition Charizard, Blastoise,Alakazam , and a lot more, for a bag of weed, was a long long time ago but it was a very big expensive collection for like a 9 year old when they came out, kept them in 1 of those books too, could have been worth a fortune
here's me showing up like 6 months late to the party. i was just randomly in old school pokemon mode and ended up here and holy crap is this invigorating. im not too far into the stream/video yet, little over 20 minutes, but i was all over pokemon when it first came out and was all the time buying, trading, and battling. i tried to get as many as i could but basically stopped after the legendary collection (mid 2002) they ended up being stolen and i couldnt recoup what i had lost so i guess i just moved on. out of the 1300 or so individual cards that were out at that time i probably had around 700 individual cards but several duplicates throughout. me still having all of my toys and gaming consols still to this day from the 80s to the late 90s just means that i would still have them all today (possibly even completed sets) had they not been stolen.
I know I'm a little late to watching this, but out of everything that was pulled. I feel like the best part was when he looked his kids in the eyes when they went off camera and said we will open cards together later. 37min in. That is what got me. What a true friggin man, and a great parent. Kudos rev, you got more than this channel to be proud of.
If I paid 200k would handle with lil more care at beginning seemed to blindly mix up but roughly, then shaking when open packs I get it 100%. but idk never bought box worth that much
There was a high chance for a Charizard in every box. Not sure why everyone gets so excited when they get one. I'd be more shocked if you didn't get one in the early boxes of boosters. Sure, a PSA 10 is awesome, but it wasn't exactly rare. Every kid back in 1999 who collected had like 5 of them. They're rare now, cuz all the ones from back then are destroyed from kids being kids
Not really, not in every country, at least in my own charizard in 1999 was rare card and most expensive there, It was cost of 100 big milks icecreams in my childhood.
Yes, people pay for the packs and the cards are sent to them afterwards. I think it might be a bit cheaper than market value because he makes money from the video/stream. But I’m not sure.
@@Bertza00 thanks for answering. I would find that very difficult to do, opening a box like this it would be so difficult to sell or give away the packets like that 😄

Crazy last pack magic. Awesome to see this box opened
Those magazines were awesome
welp.
Brought my Charizard to school for show and tell. I guess I deserved to have it stolen out of my backpack while we were at recess. Oof

My brothers had 4 first edition charizards at once as kids. My dad has a picture of them all side by side. Before they moved out of our childhood house, they gave 2 of them to their friends, lost one in the move. And kept one eventually lost. Life is crazy!!
One of these boxes was 40-50k in 2019. Now they are selling at auctions for 400-500k. Thats crazy
Crazy to see this being opened all these years later
Did the algorithm hide this? Just now seeing it
Watching this back now, insanity to think we saw the BIG 3 ! How awesome!
Man im so sorry to hear that
@wahmaster2788 Thanks man.

I found a 1st edition holo Charizard in 4th grade in 1999. I told my mom how much it was worth ($300 back then) and I never saw it again. Good times.

What’s the value of all the cards together from that hole box?
I’m scrolling the comments for the same thing lol
That would take forever to tally up...also depends if you're talking raw value, or graded value in say PSA 9 or PSA 10. But just the Charizard holo alone goes for $4-5k raw, and $220,000+ in a PSA 10
Been watching Rev for 4+ years now, I remember the first, 1st edition base box he opened! Never imagined we would open another!

this is an unbeatable comment and scenario... this is true, on my life...

I sold a 1st edition Charizard for $90 on Ebay in 2010. Never thought they'd come back. RIP me
I gave away a pretty big collection including first addition Charizard, Blastoise,Alakazam , and a lot more, for a bag of weed, was a long long time ago but it was a very big expensive collection for like a 9 year old when they came out, kept them in 1 of those books too, could have been worth a fortune
here's me showing up like 6 months late to the party. i was just randomly in old school pokemon mode and ended up here and holy crap is this invigorating. im not too far into the stream/video yet, little over 20 minutes, but i was all over pokemon when it first came out and was all the time buying, trading, and battling. i tried to get as many as i could but basically stopped after the legendary collection (mid 2002) they ended up being stolen and i couldnt recoup what i had lost so i guess i just moved on. out of the 1300 or so individual cards that were out at that time i probably had around 700 individual cards but several duplicates throughout. me still having all of my toys and gaming consols still to this day from the 80s to the late 90s just means that i would still have them all today (possibly even completed sets) had they not been stolen.
The fact that I can remember cracking these open as a kid man this was a walk down memory lane…and a good chance to kick myself in the ass again lmao
im 35, i had all more than a 1000 cards first edition and lost them trade them or gaave away..

Love this. Best opening of all time
true facts
There was a high chance for a Charizard in every box. Not sure why everyone gets so excited when they get one. I'd be more shocked if you didn't get one in the early boxes of boosters. Sure, a PSA 10 is awesome, but it wasn't exactly rare. Every kid back in 1999 who collected had like 5 of them. They're rare now, cuz all the ones from back then are destroyed from kids being kids
Not really, not in every country, at least in my own charizard in 1999 was rare card and most expensive there, It was cost of 100 big milks
icecreams in my childhood.

Yes, people pay for the packs and the cards are sent to them afterwards. I think it might be a bit cheaper than market value because he makes money from the video/stream. But I’m not sure.
