Eugene is Einstein of blast beat
Great lesson, Eugene. Really helpful tips and ideas and you convey them very clearly. Thanks for sharing your talent and knowledge!
You are welcome ;)
Thanks Eugene. You're an awesome musician and thank you for sharing your talent, knowledge and wit. I really enjoy your tutorials.
If I had your facility, I'd still be playing! I couldn't even be your roadie! Great tutorial and another + in the plus column for the bow tie! Blessings!
Доступно объясняешь, спасибо)))
Can you do a "How to" on drum fills?
Great one once again! Thanks!
Как всегда, подробно, доступно и информативно! Все круто))
Eugene the BEST
Amazing follow up! Also in regards to what you said about opening and closing the hi-hat being impossible with the two foot blast, it is actually possible to do but It requires a huge amount of thought. I found this out at a Berklee summer program last year: Dave Weckle and Dennis Chambers do when they play double bass is they use a LRR kick pattern. This naturally creates a triplet feel but if you play 16th notes with it it creates a 3 against 4 polyrythum in the left foot. It sounds interesting enough without a slave bass drum pedal but if you split your foot across the left bass drum pedal and the hi-hat and play over a blast beat hitting the hi-hat when closed it could be very interesting.
Love these tutorial videos, very nicely done, and classy!
Yes Eugene, thanks again 👍
Like the single and double foot comparison. I personally do both pending on the musicality.
great professor you are a master.
professor is an exaggeration :D
Thanks again Eugene, your videos are just great a sooooo helpful!
With the double bass transition from 2 foot 8th notes to 16th it's a lot harder to do single strokes than say double strokes or heel toe in this instance. Great tutorial ! Would be interesting to see some breakdown of "common fills" used in extreme metal. Personally I struggle with the motion of transitioning between certain parts of the kit maybe I just need more practice.
Once again Thank you sir for the informative video.
Eugene Ryabchenko Would definitely be interesting, very very informative
Now im startly use 1 feet blastbeat More...like pro :D Awesome tutor eugene!
nice video, great technique!
Awesome video ! :)
The snare roll/transition-thingy is used exactly that way in unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold :D Great tutorial as always
+DiePixelkrieger Oh yeah in the intro right?
sensacional!!!! muito didático!!! PArabens!
absolutely excellent tutorial!
ah you're the drummer from afgrund! thought i recognised some of the background tunes.
thanks for sharing keep up the good work.
are you guyz playin ne festivals this year?
Thank you. That's very nice and unexpected to hear. Unfortunately it doesn't look like we are gonna play shows in the near future. We are working on a new album. After it's done I am sure we will have gigs ;)
looking forward to getting it. going to try out a load of your techniques as had been struggling to get feet above 200 bpm consistently and o getting it. going to try out a load of your techniques as had been struggling to get feet above 200 bpm consistently think that was only 8th notes then saw your video where you said about sitting back and i think i am leaning forward onto pedals. so gonna try to do that and try starting at a lower speed adding short double time bursts and increase the length. thanks for the tips nearly finished 1 ep but my drumming really sucks on it, so hopefully with a bit of practice the next one will suck a bit less. lulz
does the swivel ankle technique work with the hands as was watching flo from cryptopsy and looked like he had a slow wrist motion up and down on his wrist every 4 or 8 strokes, wasn't a gravity blast so was trying to work out what it was but haven't seen anyone talking about a slower writ motion when playing with fingers
is it basically just to keep changing the position of the arm so you can play for longer? or is there some special technique that helps you play faster?
I think that feet and hands are really similar. The "moeller" technique (or whipping motion) is really similar to the swivel. You kinda do that to keep your hand muscles relaxed. You use different groups of muscles at different speeds.
Super Video!! Aber wie wär es wenn Sie auch manche auf Deutsch machen? Würde noch mehr bringen:D
dimmu borgir - the conspiracy unfolds used the double bass blast beat transition somewhere and I've been trying to master it. Haven't crossed 180bpm 16ths yet tho
Eugene, how should I tune my bass drum to get the best response out of my trigger? What triggers do you use?
Thanks.
That's a very good question. I am still looking for a good answer myself. Most of the time I see people tuning the bass drum pretty tight and muffle it a lot. I used Roland RT-10K in the past. Now I use the Axis e-kits.
hey mate, where are you living? Thank you for these tutorials!!!
+Eugene Ryabchenko you're awesome
I play the drums for 5 years now and i was like Whaaaaaat? The whole video
+Eugene Ryabchenko Too complicated and english
+Eugene Ryabchenko but it wasnt really playing I just went to lessons for 4 years and barely played at home. Since last year I actually enjoy playing drums and for a few months now I am obsessed with drums
+Lenny Dean stick with it , its worth it
I've been playing drums for 3 years and I understood the whole video very clearly. Probably since I've been obsessed with drumming and blast beats for about a year now.
13:12 I have to disagree. Might just be personal preference, but I always found it much easier to just add the second foot to a single-foot blast than switching from 8th notes to 16th notes double bass.
Is it really advisable to move to direct drive pedal, say after 200bpm and up? I like my chain drive pedals but I am wondering if they will be slowing me after such tempo
Even Demigod by Behemoth alters the leading hand a lot in the traditional blast.
Eugene podrías traducir el vídeo a español gracias
+Eugene Ryabchenko Pedal settings video?? :P

Yo meistro! Do you give Skype Lessons btw?

+Eugene Ryabchenko you`re my mentor master!!
Eugene Ryabchenko Really thanks. Muchas gracias :)
hey, sub Spanish plis
The metronome was way too distracting. I couldn't enjoy any of the demos.
The metronome during the exercises were distracting. Couldn't focus on the exercises because of that.
+Eugene Ryabchenko It sounds more bearable when I am listening to it using my desktop speakers but when I was on the phone the metronome completely overpowered the drums. Maybe its just my phone but keeping the metronome sound a tad quieter would be nice in future video.
BTW I absolutely loved the polyrhythm tutorial (:
I'd prefer if all the exercises were like the ones in part 1 of this series, the basics. In the previous video from the 1 minute mark till the 1 minute 30 second-ish mark the demos were perfect. No distracting metronome.
Eugene Ryabchenko I am not offended by any means haha. I am a beginner and I really find metronomes distracting. I do not use them much although I understand that they are important. Never got the habit of practicing with metronomes.
How important is metronome for polyrhythmic drumming? Thats my main attraction. Couldn't really incorporate metronomes into a polyrhythm before which is why I never use metronomes.
spanish please!!
Sorry, the guy who was making the spanish subs is not replying to my messages anymore :(
So if you know someone who could contribute - I would appreciate it.
Eugene Ryabchenko I'll have to learn english haha! :)
