I remember when the album came out. It was a pretty big departure from their grindcore roots and it wasn't well received by a lot of fans. I personally really liked it. It was different but still great.
I got into Carcass in the late 2000s when I was in school and never quite got the hate, just a great execution in the combination of Death Metal, Groove Metal, and even bits of Sludge. Sure it doesn’t sound like Heartwork, and especially not their earlier Grindcore work, but fucking hell it’s so good it’s in own right… how could you hate it??
Because it wasn't Heartwork. When a band does something different the fans start thinking "Oh! Is this what the band will sound like from now on?" and they make their voices heard. However, when you go back knowing that this was a one off departure it should be obvious that this is a fantastic album.
Fvck dude fr I was blasting it for the first time in a long time on Wednesday night. I'm seeing them in Auckland New Zealand next Friday. Can't wait! I hope they can squeeze Child's Play into their set!
@@stellarcubicbeam7760 it was awesome man. The sound tech team took a bit extra to make sure the sound was top notch and it was. They sounded so fvkin good! They invited people on the stage for Rot and Roll and let them all stage dive. Also after i had just toked up in the cubicle in the toilets the first thing I saw when I came out was a hot as topless chick crowd surfing near the pit. Haha true story it was such a Rad night. Been into them since I saw the video for Tools of the Trade - they didnt play it though but oh well they played all their other hits. That drummer theyve got currently is real good also and looks like he really enjoys himself while playing 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I used to play in a cover band doing rock/metal stuff and we'd do Neil Young's Keep On Rockin' In The Free World but we'd stick the chorus of "Rotting..." at the end and got a great reception.

This album is one of the best albums of all time.
I can't believe there are people who hate Swansong. It's a masterpiece and as best as all the other albums. Carcass never disappoints!
Wait people hate Swansong? It's always been a favorite of mine..
only douchebags hate it.
i think is the best carcass album, i dont understand why theres people that underestimate it

One of my favourite
Why do people hate on it? Its bloody brilliant!

Same here, i'd be right in front of Bill Steer and keep telling him what a god he is and i love him so much hahaha
Childs play is the doorway to understanding the beauty of swansong
