Hi Chris thanks for the vid. Quick tip, the biggest cables with the biggest terminals should go on first and the smallest cables/terminals last. If fitted as you have shown, on top of smaller terminals, the bigger terminals will not seat properly and have full contact with the stud and may not be able to carry the amps required by your setup causing them to possibly overheat and melt insulation or worse.
Typically this happens with lack of strain relief on the battery cables. I hope you added that to prevent this in the future. The new switch was redesigned to try and prevent that from happening even when the install is not done correctly.
So, had the exact same issue with our new (used) 2018 NauticStar. Once I was able to get to the back of the switch (which was a PIA) the entire switch just fell apart. Great video and very informative. Will probably make a short on our channel as well to alert others and hopefully help them save money and time. Thanks again for the video.
Great job Chris. I liked the tip of the anti corrosion stuff on the terminals. On a side note you can tell the rest of your electrical system is working good. There were no burn marks from arcing on the contacts of the switch you took out. Stay Well and God Bless ✝
Just an added tip if you still have the backing plate for the switch, back cap that attaches with 4 screws, bluesea recommends to put it on to prevent this. I have replaced 2 on my boat... always something bud! 🤙🦀🌴
I had the exact #6011 fail on my 2012 model (built in 2011) wakeboat. First in 2015 and just this week 2022. I’ll try calling blue sea systems tomorrow. Local stores had none so I ordered through Amazon but won’t be here till mid September. I found a three post or three bolt boat switch made by standard and made it work so we could go on the lake. Same thing though, it’s like the guts just fall apart. Hard to not have torque from heavy cables. Back of my switch is very congested. Hope my next switch is the last it’s not easy access like yours.
I called blue sea this morning and explained how mine fell apart internally and saw on you tube blue sea would replace it. They asked me to take a picture of the old one and it’s on its way. Might be four weeks due to plastic shortage
Had the same issue over the weekend with this same switch. Notified Blue Seas and hopefully a replacement will be sent. If this happened 12-20 miles offshore I would have been Fd!

That's just crazy, I am happy to hear you figured out what the problem was and got it fixed without having to pay $1,000! Nice video!
Well now Chris I would have done it for a fishing trip. Good job guys. Chris you probably could have put the old one back together as a spare.

Told you brother! At least it's getting taken care of. 💯

That is exactly how I felt. Thank god it happened when I was just putting the boat on the trailer. I am glad that blu sea is sending you a new one
@@CaptChrisCanning its been over 60 days, haven't received squat from BS. Time to place another caution to the web about this alarming issue.
That’s weird man, they took care of me right away. I’d call them again
Just contacted them, part is on back order. Estimated replacement in 6-8 weeks.
Nice video- how did you identify the problem when it happened? Other than power out ? Thx
I knew instantly when I turned the knob that it wasn’t right.. it’s suppose to click into place. Not free turn
