Don’t think it was a sail but Sail cats are actually better than freshwater catfish because they aren’t bottom feeders. If you haven’t tried it , you really should
Hi, I'm a Tampa local and have fished by here. Nice video, just my two cents: You should consider trying to remove the fish hook inside their mouth if they are not gut hooked. For catfish it's pretty easy with a tool.
Try your luck over at 4th street bridge on st. Pete side of the Howard Franklin. Even better would be under the little bridge that exits off to ulmerton rd. Take westbound 275 over the Howard Franklin Bridge. Second exit you come to is ulmerton rd, take the exit as soon as you starting to get of you cross a small bridge. Excellent place for big snook especially at night using ladyfish for bait. Concentrate on the shadow line under the bridge. Good luck and tight lines 👍🎣
Heck yeah man that’s great info right there! Let me know next time you’re going out & maybe we can link up so I can sponge all your salt fishing knowledge!!
This is honestly one of the best comments I’ve ever got! Seriously thank you! Obviously I’d love to make this into a career & be able to fish for a living, but I can’t think of anything I want more than to inspire others & help grow the sport!!
Dude I've been looking for a crabbing spot around Pinellas (live in largo area) and just about every spot I try is tapped out. Thank you for showing this spot.. now where do you park?
Even though the catfish barb is serious if gets you, STILL you don’t just cut the line like that!?!?! Carry a heavy pair of leather gloves & get that lure, hook etc out of the poor fish. What kind of angler are you? That’s not being a responsible one. Hey, I’m just a Florida native…Be a conservationist as well
Hey thanks for your concern buddy, but I am a huge conservationist! If I can get a hook out obviously I’m going to get it out, but if by me getting it out the fishes throat is going to get ripped apart and it’s going to bleed to death, then I’m not going to rip the hook out and at least give it a chance. Thanks for your support though! Stay hooked!!
Catfish in and around Tampa are a nuisance fish. They are cockroach around here. You typically want to leave if you start catching them. Ud rather not catch anything at all. Its part of the "TRASH CAN SLAM".
That’s what I’ve heard! I moved away from Florida so I haven’t done much salt water fishing for a while, but man do I wanna catch some big snook & reds!!
Pretty sure I’d I had something to remove it I would’ve! Loll plus thats a junk bait fish who cares. Rather leave it than jack up their throat & kill them anyways🤷🏻♂️
@@HookedOnBassin lol man im just bustin your balls. I live in Clearwater. Ive had a lot of success at that spot fishing for speckled trout. very good eating. The catfish are a nuisance
Lolll nah man I was absolutely fishing for giants, just didn’t catch anything. Obviously not gonna waste the day/footage or the chance to share the spot with others!
@@Jake_Cook not gonna give it out. But can name few locations. Ft Desoto, Terra Verde, blinds pass, johns pass, but best bet is Google map to scout out the area. @@HookedOnBassin i would love too but I just moved up to Citrus County in February but still come down and visit occasionally. Use zman minnowz with 1/6 to 1/4 oz ttlockz jig head make sure you put super glue on it so it won't slip. Plus get procure manhaden on it also mirrodine xl will work too down there. But if you are fishing on top of the bridge use docs goofy pompano jig yellow color with pink teaser, or spro buck tail jigs or vertical jig will works. Night time is the best bet but day time is good too. Also oyster bed under baypine friendship trail is good it only accessible during low tide be sure wear old boot or waders due to alot of oysters just park by target by the trail then walk all the way to bridge then go under and walk to the end of oyster bed there will be a little inlet. I've caught big jacks, snook, reds, trout and flounder there it a very good beginner spot
Loll that’s fine man. Some people will always be whiny and want something to be upset about. I’ll just do me & help grow the sport of fishing any way I can!
I caught a missing child in Clearwater with a rod and reel
🤣🤣🤣 what a hero!!!
Well did you keep it or throw it back ? I heard parents love those things
🤣🤣
Fist bumping on catfish 😂
Yeah man! Happy to be catching something!
@@HookedOnBassin no man. Never be happy about catfish bro lmao.
Hahah they are super annoying but better than getting skunked I guess loll

I wish we would’ve cooked some up that day, but they didn’t really have much of any meat loll

Yeah I definitely try to get it out if it’s not too deep! It honestly kinda hurts my soul to have to throw one back with a hook still in it!! 😬

Why did you guys cut the line on those catfish?
They had both swallowed the whole hook unfortunately!
how do i get there just moved to the temple terrace area looking for any spots nearby to fish
I’m terrible with road names lol just google Courtney Campbell Causeway and it should take you straight there
Try fort DeSoto. Good fishing two piers. You can Google how to get there.
@rreevesb3 not the first time I’ve had someone tell tell me about desoto! I’ll have to check it out
The bigger the bait the bigger the fish
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
That’s what I’ve been hearing!! Hahah I need to get back out there!
Bro Weedon Island if you have a kayak. Theres plenty of great fish over there
I would love to check that out & I am getting a kayak soon!! 👀👀

Heck yeah glad I could help! A little further down the causeway are a couple different pull offs on both sides!!
Hey bud I have a good crabbing spot. I've been looking for someone to crab with. If interested hit me up.
Hit the skyway at night for crabs
Are you guys parking down at Ben T Davis parking and walking over there?
No we just pulled off and parked on the other side at the first entrance point to those side roads.
Is this on the Tampa side or St Pete side? Do you have a preference?
This was the Tampa side, but I haven’t fished there enough to know if one’s better than the other! Sorry, wish I could help more!
I recognized the spot, I’m going there Saturday lol
How’d you do?? Better than we did I hope!

Why are you leaving the hook in the catfish’s mouth?
If they swallow it and it’s lodged in their throat it’s just gonna kill them from rippin it out so might as well leave it & give them a chance!! 🤷🏻♂️

Catfish and Ladyfish lmao
It was a tough day no doubt, but better than work!
Went to that spot today and tore them up 🫡
Hell yeah!! What all did you catch?!
Got nice size lady fish and a bonnet head shark then walked down under the bridge and got some good ole stone crab claws

It’s just so much fun!! Obviously you never want that to happen, but it does sometimes.. next time I’ll rip it’s throat out and kill it for you!! 💪🏻🎣
U should include the number of casts between fish.. so it's more realistic
So the fish we caught on this video were basically all back to back to back!!
