While I had a ton of fun with Pikmin 4 and look forward to replaying it I agree with several of your bigger complaints. I think wanting to make the series more accessible and less anxiety-inducing is what led to a lot of the creative flaws with 4. They clearly want Pikmin to be a bigger series than it is and looking at the reception 4 was a considerable push in that direction. It seems to pick and choose things from the series as a sort of "sampler" for people who never gave it a try but it ends up struggling to have its own identity by reusing so much and several mechanics are overpowered or underutilized. I appreciate that you presented your thoughts concisely and the audio was easy to listen to. Nice job bud✌
I waited a majority of my life for Pikmin 4, and when I first played and thought it felt off, so I just told myself I was being nostalgia blind. To hear a newer Pikmin fan echoing my thoughts feels very validating. I really hate complaining, but Pikmin 4 feels misguided. You’re 100% right that hey Pikmin feels more like a true Pikmin experience. At least this game selling well insures a brighter future for the series.
There are rumors going around that a new Pikmin spinoff is in development. I wouldn’t mind a Hey Pikmin 2. I think the idea of a 2D Pikmin has a ton of potential and while I like Hey Pikmin I don’t think it did a lot with that potential or at least not as much as it could have. Now considering Hey Pikmins reputation, I doubt it’s ever getting a sequel but you never know with Nintendo. They just kinda do whatever the hell they want💀. I will also say Bingo Battle from Pikmin 3 is so good that it could genuinely become its own spinoff series
@@theghostwiththemost789 I always thought the Pikmin gameplay would lend itself to Metroidvania style, and while I think it work best in 3D with the moveable onions from 4, Maybe trying it in 2D could help test the waters.
I don’t know how I forgot to mention this but Pikmin 3 ended on a cliffhanger which makes them retconing the entire series even more annoying

It’s nice of you to mention the audio quality after I complained to you about how annoying it was being lmao
