    Excellent lens: sharp, producing excellent colours too.
    Not sure why Ricoh farmed out the production of the 24-70 to Tamron when they could have upgraded and used the formula of the 16-50.

    Looks like a great lens I may buy one my son took my 18-50 WR lens so now I don't have a WR lens in this focal length

    I have a Sigma 18-50 2.8, as well as this lens (I got the Pentax for the weather sealing). The Sigma is a bit sharper, but the Pentax has a more pleasing quality to it. I’m not sure why, the pictures are just nicer.

    Bought a used one from KEH. Will be sending it back since it has some issues. 1. Sharpness is less than my 16-85 (only in low to medium light though). In bright daylight with direct sun images looks very sharp. 2 focusing takes for EVER, much slower than yours in the video :( 3. There is some resistance when zooming similar to when pumping a bicycle tire. I can hear some air being moved around or out of the lens, very strange. Kinda hesitant to get another on after this experience

    God for the update of PENTAX.
    I am from Finland 🇫🇮 at +60yers. In September I invested brand new K-1 body and Sigma 35 art Lens.
    I yes it for Landscape and Arkitekture like that.
    My kvetching is shall I get my a Sigma 50-200 f-2,8 for sports Fotograf?
    In my bag I have crop optics for my PENTAX k20. Original and Sigmas.
    But for full frame and Sports 50-200 f-2,8. PENTAX or Sigma ? Of course the price is a bit a factor in buying the optic.
    Best visches Jan Blomqvist and thanks to you, have a nice day 🤗👏👍🇫🇮📷📸
    Excuse my my English is not so good 😊.

    Hi! Will manually focusing extend its motor lifespan? I have a good deal on this lens (with 6 months warranty), but not quite sure if i should buy this one or sigma 17-50mm f/2.8

      @leehaze1  2 года назад +1

      I don't think manual focusing will help. I think when it goes unused has more of an effect. It is almost like the sdm needs to wake up when it has been sitting around for a long time. If it does go out you can always convert it to screw drive focus. I would go with the Pentax. Thanks for watching

      @@leehaze1 Hello again Sir! Just bought this lens, and it is amazingly sharp even at f/2.8. Very solid premium build, SDM is working nicely as it should, hope it stays that way for a long time..
      Thank you again for helping to make the right decision.

    I just purchased one and it has some tension from 28-40mm. Does your copy have this problem?

    I got this lens recently on my k3ii, but it looks very soft and the focusing is not very accurate. I'm sure the kit lens is sharper than this. Not sure why.

    3 questions: Are all DA star lenses made by Tamron? How to determine date of manufacture? Anyone have long term actual useage and no trouble? I find many out there bad mouthing Pentax but my K5 IIs works very well thanks. I will say my K100D was very disappointing. Love the K5 IIs!

    Lee, did you have SDM issues with this and say 50-135 DA* lenses? I would like to get them but can't decide because of this...

    • @leehaze1
      @leehaze1  7 лет назад

      I had no issues with either the 16-50mm or 50-135mm. I was the second owner on both lens. I did have a sdm issue on the 300mm which I bought new. It was fixed for free under warranty. thanks for watching

    One of the few Pentax lenses I don't want to buy, the SMC engine has be extremely unreliable on this lens since it came on the market :-( the colors are beautiful as always with Pentax

      There arent that many with SDM issues past 2012 year of manuf... But its way too big and heavy for walking around :-)

      @gryphongryph 8 лет назад

      don't know about that, some people get their lenses repaired at Pentax, but a few/many months later get the same problem!

    • @Gynra

      I bought mine after 2012, but it now doesn't autofocus. Same problem with the 300 mm f4, though I put it down to the fact that I rarely use the lenses, and I've heard this is a factor. No problems with my DA* 60-250 mm f4, though (so far)

  • @gryphongryph
    @gryphongryph 8 лет назад

    Did just that, but the Sigma does not have the same beautiful colors as the Pentax, so more to be done in post.
