I bought the bike and battery from you and am the owner. I appreciate the heads up! I put about 1,000 more miles on it with no issues. However, all of my ebike batteries have been in climate controlled storage away from any houses for about a year while I focused on getting my new house fixed up.
I will definitely look more into this to see if it's a simple repair, like a bms swap. I most likely will not reuse it as-is. With over 5,000 miles on it, it has really started to degrade and lose a lot of performance once the voltage drops anywhere below 72v.

Too late. Mine went up in flames while charging last year. I lost two 52v. Batts! Amazon is ignoring me!! The flames were spectacular, btw lol

Time to have a lawyer write them. They’ll listen, because their liability is huge - and that’s why they’re stonewalling you.

Word is UPP used fireworks instead of conventional cells in their triangle batteries.

Problem with the triangle batteries is there are more fake UPP batteries out their than real. I've encountered two even being ultra conscious. One from clone of their factory store. Crap hand welds not ultrasonic welds from their assembly line, poor hazardous wire routing and thinner than UPP nickel coated steel strips which yes UPP uses on their genetic batteries. Even worse the BMS output was bypassed on both these batteries. Supposed UPP triangle batteries keep popping up after recall on Ali, Ebay. Their are no legitimate UPP batteries in circulation.

    UPP - Zero

Not exactly. I thought he was legit until he lied about Apple preventing him from replacing bad batteries he got from them but turned out he'd knowingly bought batteries from a supplier Apple had disallowed and had them put Genuine Apple logoed stickers on the batteries. Then came UPP where he appeared to charge two batteries in parallel with a significant srarting voltage difference which is a big no no and definite fire hazard. UPP requested he ship battery at their expense to examine. Rossman declined which is his right. Then they asked to have either there own engineer come look or a third party independent lab they both agreed on examine the battery. At that point he completely lost what little credibility he'd had after the Apple debacle where he admitted (sort of) lying but said it was still Apples fault because they wouldn't open up their laptop eco system. Not a fan at all of Apple but blatant gas lighting in Rossmans part.

3 of mine with generic cells failed in various ways, usually the BMS and corrosion . But i still have a 48v and 72v triangle that will put out about 75% of the original performance after a few years . Eventually they Get very hot 🥵 and sketchy 😮 and won’t put out barely anything

I have been using my UPP for 2 years. My only issue so far is battery level indicator on the battery is not showing the correct reading. They do sometimes get a little warm when charging but not always. I do casual leisure riding so not using it to the point I would notice any degradation.

UPP batteries are a half way decent battery for low cost and low power but the triangle ones that they use to make were the only ones with issues because of there design and the USB charge point that was the main cause of the fires with them. But always use good cells if you can afford it. Molicels are the best out and the P42 cells aren't really that expensive but if you jump up to what I'm using the P45B cells then the price doubled per cell compared to the P42 cells. So P42 cells sell for like 4.80ea and the P45B cells sell for almost 10ea

Thanks for that, we're light years ahead on the motors as DC Motors are great to use. Mass Transit systems have long used DC
based motors b/c they last but I digress. Somehow those in charge of our world have managed to keep hold on the market and
kept the lithium battery prices abnormally high. Go figure but they do it w/ all technologies. The "fire" issues is just one more
reason I've waited & I've seen several fires happening in new ebikes so something is amiss. Thanks for the updates. peace

And Nick I am so shocked you haven't sold the p51 yet I wish I had the money but I put it all in my BG -X build or I would have bought it. But I'm thinking it might be because the batteries have them Samsung 50s cells in them and they are not good cells like everyone though they would be. It's a shame because alot of people got them thinking that were great cells and now after all the testing they aren't as good as expected. If you still have the bike next month I might come grab it. But I will ck back in 4wks to see if you still have it. Thanks for putting out good information to people that didn't know.

It could also be a mix of people using completely miss matched controllers with said batteries ? Wanting more speed ? Doing shunt mods ? Who knows man they can blame the battery. But if a controller cable catches fire the rest of the cable gonna burn with it up the line leading to the thing up top which most people think is what caught fire first 😂

@NPL Ventures I'm trying to sell on OfferUP my Trek 4500 with the Bafang BBSO2 48v-10.4a for $700. It seems it doesn't pay to build a custom e bike anymore, which is hard to sell.

What did you do what the batteries you own that degraded? The one bike you sold, but what have you done with the others? Do you have and IR temp meter? To see if they produce more heat when charging and dischanging as they age...

A warm battery while charging is normal. Your BMS might be throttling the charge despite the amp rating. However I don't want people to think warm batteries are damagers.

Bro, I'm so tired of ppl shitting on UPP batteries. I've used UPP batteries for going on 5yrs now and never had any issues whatsoever. My batteries don't get warm, I still get great range, and let them charge past the green light with no worries. I have 3 UPP, 52 volt, batteries. 1 28.8 amp hrs triangle, and 2 20 amp hours rectangle batteries.

That's has been known for last 2yrs that's why they don't make that model it has to do with the USB charge point and the bms in that triangle batteries. There other batteries aren't bad. And Samsung 50s cells are not any good either they don't last long at all. The 50s Samsung cells drop down to 60% after 300 cycles. Samsung isn't as good as it use to be or at least the 50s cells. I stick with molicels the P45B cells

Problem with the triangle batteries is there are more fake UPP triangle batteries out there than real and I've been warning for a year before this, unless it's the official (not just saying official) store you're buying a fake from Amazon, Ebay or Ali. UPP is the largest manufactory if oem bike batteries and their direct to consumer batteries and cells are midgrade at best unless you request a name branded cell battery and I use Amorge for those these days but in this case UPP got the shaft. Chinese companies figure cheap clones are price of business and usually make no real effort to shut down fakes as government doesn't care.
