Let's go back to the hopelessly naive average joe Emmet used to be, a humble construction worker seeking friendship and affirmation in a world heavily run by a corporate machine. After the world fell, life became harsher and edgier. Not a single day passed by in Apocalypseburg without any fights, even over the pettiest of things. Even so, Emmet persisted in being a kind, friendly soul. And yet his attitude was rebuked at every turn, even by the ones he cherished most. When his mistakes led to them being taken away from him, with all his might, he swore to get them back, but failed. Being faced with the fear of that loneliness again, unable to move or even struggle against it, small wonder Rex's mind broke, and whatever was left of his broken heart was mired in anger and fear wrapped up in a package of adrenaline-thrillseeking. @Spider Chavo To some extent, while I can understand and sympathize with those points, I may as well point out we're mostly hearing things from Rex's PoV. I wouldn't think of him exactly as a reliable narrator, even when he's giving his big revelation to Emmet, as he might've been exaggerating for effect. Even being isolated for a week or a few days can have an adverse effect on one's psyche, and judging by how isolated he was down in the dryer while being tantalizingly tormented by the sight of his friends moving on without him, I'd say Rex isn't exactly the picture of sanity and reliability. The rex only went back in time because he wanted to prevent himself from suffering what he did, and you could do that in all timelines, but if we consider the theory that going back to the past You create a new timeline then rex would be doing this forever creating an army of emmets
The part where Emmett asks "Why do we sound so different?" and Rex repeats it in the exact same voice confirming they're the same cracks me up, I don't know why.
This is why people should think twice about what they ask for and what they want. Treating the sweetest person ever so terribly and making them a villian is the worst mistake you’ll ever regret. Because the nicest people can become dangerous when they're angry.
I think I understand. Emmett is always being so cheery, optimistic and happy, but eventually he learns that not everything in the world is great or awesome. His future self thought his friends would always have his back, but they never came. So he gained a cynical and serious attitude and changed his name, Rex, to match his now toughen personality.
Would’ve made a great movie if Lincoln finally stood up to his family and scolds then for how they treated him in No Such Luck and The Taunting Hour and his alternate villain self as I like to call him "Issac Silence" would be satisfied while watching this while eating Nacho Chips
Looking back at this movie and watching Rex’s backstory made me realize that Rex Dangervest is just like Savitar from the Flash. Emmett and Barry were both forgotten and alone while they’re so called friends never helped them or looked for them. They both became evil and wanted to go back in time to make sure that they will always exist, Rex did seem like a friend at first to Emmett and Savitar was a enemy of Barry but they both wanted to succeed on their lives being extended. They both failed in the long run and died. It just makes me feel like Rex and Savitar are basically the same person and have the same motive.
I would imagine conversation go Vitruvius : I'm so disappointed in you Emmit Rex :it's their fault their abandoning me Vitruvius : yeah but two wrongs don't make it rights
When Rex launched Emmet to "Undar of the dryar system" he/Rex tried to change Emmet into a "tough guy" before but now Rex tried to break/kill his younger self/Emmet
Rex would cease to exist if he killed Emmet, since he's literally Emmet from the future. So I don’t think Rex would be that dumb to go down so deep of doing something like that.

If Freshman me ever met Senior me
Preach dude tbh id probably beat the shit outta freshmen me
@@OddHunter5504 same 😂
Just say if my high school freshman self met my college freshman counterpart (My present self).
We'd just settle in and see.
Rex's voice would be perfect for Wario in the sequel for The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
...if he would make an appearance.
got damn. that delorean setpiece never saw the light of day. likely because it had no windows, but i’d pay real money to have a lego set of that really specific setpiece
It’s funny how Chris Pratt voices both emmet and Rex
And Movie Mario
@@Rellobros Exactly. Also, Owen Grady.
In an interview he said his kid had a similar reaction as Emmett when he told them it was him.
Emmet had every reason to become Rex.
"You're such a great man!!! Your great talented ever..... had..... So long man!!" -Rex
1:39 how emmet walked tho lol
2:31 I love the Terminator reference.😁🤖
I just realized this whole scene Is just Chris Pratt having a conversation with himself
So, if he's voicing Mario, then what would an Alternate-Timeline Evil Mario look like?
Rex: How tough am I? How tough am I? I went back in time!
Guard: So what?
Rex: To ruin my only daughter's and my ex's ex's wedding!
wait.... So Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi is Emmet's daughter?
@@lukecona2749Well Emmet made the heart as a gift and it was revealed that the heart is the Queen. So... yeah, I guess.
Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi: Daddy, WWWWHHHHHHYYYYY!?!?!?
2:31 R.I.P random T800 lol
The way the live action kids never notice the Legos moving on their own reminds me of how in toy story andy never notices the toys moving on their own
They aren't moving on their own, its a delusion of free will when it's fin and his sister that's controlling everything that happens to them. Totally different.
Thus is actually so intriguing and sad. Im kinda happy though seeing the happy character becoming the villain. Says alot wow...poor guy
2:32 Yooo I know where they got that from, Hot tub time machine
2:24 Back to the Future
2:27 Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure
2:29 Doctor Who
2:31 Terminator
2:32 Hot Tub time machine
If Rex didn't came back in time, all the Emmet would turn into Rex?
Aline Renner technically yes, unless there are alternate timelines where emmets friend do come to save him.
They’re in alternate timelines. So when Rex “disappears” he just goes back to his timeline.
@@blazer3756
That is, back to the future
That’s sad he’s the bad guy
how is that sad
@@stuff9800 because Emmet was neglected under the dryer for a long time
He must be Bully Pratt.
@@gabrielolegario1408
no, because he was an ordinary worker who followed rules every day, hoping to someday somehow find friends, even if they were different
or barely knew who he was. But nobody knew who he was, people seeing him as just another face in the crowd. in desperation, he is saved by a person who says he is special, just like Emmet makes friends and saves the world, but now, after the Lego Duplo invasion. Unlike everyone else, Emmet remained a good person and a friendly, pure soul. But his friends and everyone in the post apocalyptic city said he never grew up and always criticizing him, when his friends are "kidnapped" and everyone who stayed put the blame on emmet for not grow up and when he says he's going to the system no one helps him or goes with him, so he still hopes to help his friends and save the world, but there were too many asteroids and he didn't have how to dodge, and there was no one to help and save him, so he hits the asteroid, falls into the dryers and is stuck there for years, watching all his friends happily dancing, completely forgetting of him just dancing to an annoying, boring song, and emmet couldn't do anything but remember the horrible things his friends and people around him said to him, it made him Hardening his heart, so in anger he manages to get out of the dryers, seeing that no one remembers him anymore, he builds a time machine, to prevent himself from suffering what he suffered. And that his friends stay imprisoned in Armageddon so they can feel what he felt for years
@@LegoAnimationsFilms Oh. i just got overexcited that I was looking at Bully Maguire and remembered that Rex Dangervest was Emmet and voiced by Chris Pratt. That's why I want to call him Bully Pratt.
In the first movie he barely moved, and the second one he moved freely until he changed his mindset
Mario become Wario.
2:42 it’s funny!!!!
For This Time I feel bad for rex no wonder he became a evil because his friend always treated him like a garbage
when you realize that if Rex didnt actually appear to save Emmet
Emmet would actually remain as Rex, the whole flow wont break.
so this is technically rex's fault
Remember, the people wasn’t nice to Emmet and the female aliens took over for 5 years. Emmet wants to save their friends, but ends up gets hit by the asteroid and stuck under the washing machine. Not only it was Rex, but also some bad people who treated him like crap.
Rex isn’t technically from the future in this timeline, he’s from the future in the OG timeline. Rex just created a new timeline but the old one is still there. He probably “Back To The Future-d” to his timeline at the end of the movie. So I’d love to see what happens to Rex next
@@blazer3756
that's why the rex is from the original timeline, ie originally it was supposed to happen shows that the emmet of the second timeline that was changed by the emmet of the original timeline
The rex only went back in time because he wanted to prevent himself from suffering what he did, and you could do that in all timelines, but if we consider the theory that going back to the past You create a new timeline then rex would be doing this forever creating an army of emmets
@@LegoAnimationsFilms So I'm not the only one that knows Rex is the original Emmet lego minifigure from the first movie.
he got spinel'd huh
I started to love Rex
Remember villains do not start off evil
Some villians are plain evil. But some aren't.
Emmet: Oh, it’s an acronym. Now I get it.
1:52 yes !! Candy !! Emmet !!! Yes!!!
I was following everything you said except for everything after the part when you said I’m you.
li..literally the first thing I just said
@Margaret Yankson well Technically rex is the Original Emmet Figure from the 1st movie. Some people just can't see that.
The part where Emmett asks "Why do we sound so different?" and Rex repeats it in the exact same voice confirming they're the same cracks me up, I don't know why.
There were many hidden features in the movie that confirmed Rex was Emmet's future self, but the same voice thing just confirmed it even more, lol.
Wried how I never thought or question why Rex shares the same voice were I though they were doing some kind of joke.
I feel bad for emmet that he became evil because he friends did not care about him and people treated him terribly
This is why people should think twice about what they ask for and what they want.
Treating the sweetest person ever so terribly and making them a villian is the worst mistake you’ll ever regret. Because the nicest people can become dangerous when they're angry.
@@LegendarySnipez7000true
Rex must have picked up the entire dromaeosaur population for his crew.
It’s funny how Chris Pratt voices two characters in the movie Rex and emmet
tbh rex saved himself... from becoming himself
Yeah
Wow this backstory reminds me of Savitar from The Flash S3
Yeah except better since I don't need a wiki to understand Rex's back story
2:02 I've Died! 😂
This Movie Was The One That Predicted Avengers Endgame.😮
0:02 emmet: WHY DO WE SOUND SO DIFFERENT
Rex: WHY DO WE SOUND SO DIFFERENT
He is a mix of the characters Chris Pratt played, Star Lord, Owen Grady and Josh Faraday.
And Emmet himself
(In Emmet voice) why do we sound so different?
The twist itself is interesting, but there's one thing I don't understand. How can there be two Emmets when the original mini figure became Rex?
Fin bought or built another Emmet figure when he lost the original one under the dryer.
I think it was just part of Finn's time travel storyline and Finn just used a random minifig as future emmet.
0:02 Emmet: What Do We Sound So Difterent?
0:03 Rex: What Do We Sound So Difterent?
0:05 Emmet: 😯😯😯😯
Me: (Doing Emmet’s voice) Why Do We Sound So Different?
This is how villains are evil
Yeah because evil is born through pain and loss, that's how some good guys turned into bad guys through pain or loss.
Love the reference of Jurassic World
I Can imagine If the Loud House Movie gets a Sequel, Lincoln Loud Being Like Rex Dangervest After Being Stabbed in the back by His family and Friends.
Would’ve made a great movie if Lincoln finally stood up to his family and scolds then for how they treated him in No Such Luck and The Taunting Hour and his alternate villain self as I like to call him "Issac Silence" would be satisfied while watching this while eating Nacho Chips

It hit hard seeing this in cinemas
Rex should have not been the villain. The citizens of star system should have been the villain.
Light year ripped this off
Radical emmet xtreme
0:00 Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Ending In The Nutshell
This was made before spider verse
the why do we sound so different part always gets me
2:31 whatever Skynet’s been using. 😂
If only Vitruvius came to Rex...
I would imagine conversation go
Vitruvius : I'm so disappointed in you Emmit
Rex :it's their fault their abandoning me
Vitruvius : yeah but two wrongs don't make it rights
When Rex launched Emmet to "Undar of the dryar system" he/Rex tried to change Emmet into a "tough guy" before but now Rex tried to break/kill his younger self/Emmet
Rex would cease to exist if he killed Emmet, since he's literally Emmet from the future. So I don’t think Rex would be that dumb to go down so deep of doing something like that.
1:51 2019 CHEVY SILVERADO 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you look at it Finn sister was technically the villain of the lego movie 2 Finn sister destroy brickburg and then Finn created apocalypseburg and sweet mayhem took Emmet friends and Emmet try to save his friends with spaceship but his spaceship got destroy and Rex was made.
1:46
Nice one
Did no one clean under the dryer for years or missed Emmet...? Wow
Pretty crazy, Emmet was in one of the most visible places to be found and they just didn't care.
@Sean Samuel i was talking about his friends. Not Finn or Bianca
If you’re me, why do we sound so different?
And that's when the movie went full Fight Club
Rex Dangervest is the most confusing Lego character to me.
Wait untill you hear about Sam Sinister xD
If you look closely there’s the pick up truck from the ad from the Lego movie 2 1:51
Plot twist how did rex land under the dryer system after passing the door staregate, he just pass 21 seconds out of the basement and somehow land under the dryer system
If emmet friends at least try to find him emmet future self will not be evil
