- We look at the raw 2015 Jaguar F-Type R and compare it to the revised 2016 and later AWD F-type. We put each car on the lift and show you the unmentionables as well as walking you through cosmetic and interior changes.

The reason why the hood vents are different, is that the engine sits higher in the engine bay due to the AWD system. So as to not raise height further, the vents were pushed to the side. You can see where additional room for the engine was added in the profile of the hood stamping.
I like that. Thanks for sharing.
Nice comparison guys. I've been shopping for an R for about two months now, easily the best, most useful rundown in what makes the two model years different.
We will have a video shortly coming out to help you figure out what one fits your personality
@@PerformanceOnWheels Great! Looking forward to it.
I really appreciate the 2 videos gentleman. I have plans of getting an F-Type in the near furtuee but can't figure out which year i want yet and this has been very helpful👍🏽👍🏽gracias
We have lots of other F-type videos as well if you’re interested! Glad we could help with these 2!
Guys the vent difference is to do with it being AWD, not a change in design post 2015 my 2015 AWD has these it is because the they raise the engine to accommodate the 4 wheel powertrain.
Love the underneath views ...thanks for the video :-)
Thanks! The height differences because of the AWD and hood stamping is totally true! I have read a few places that they kept the vents flush for visibility reasons.
Thanks for going underneath the car. Better than most reviews in that aspect.
Thanks Guys. Good video. Interesting to see the small changes automakers put into their cars. The Jag is nice car. Todd I’d still go for your car.
Alex.... go check out the video that was just uploaded right now!!!!
The discoloration is from the engine hood vents being open on the rwd models and exposing the engine cover to water/sun lights etc.
Awd models vents shifted to prevent water ingress issues the earlier model rwd cars suffered from.
Thank you for not saying "jag-wire"
It's all about you. 😉
Oh, they edited that out 😂
@@krungthepsiam Quite down David
I enjoy watching these guys from time to time but driving me crazy they continually call it a Jag Wire as well. Just one of those nail on the chalk board issues for me.
If that's all we did wrong. I'll chalk that up as a win.
Jaguar have progressively made the F-type less beautiful in my opinion.
I agree
Good job on the comp. Very useful. I prefer the hood vents on the 2015R...look meaner.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to subscribe
The discolouration on the engine cover is from water ingress from the hood vents, more visible on the P300.
Thats a fun fact! Thanks for sharing!
I really appreciate you guys doing the AWD vs RWD comparison. I am stuck in that exact place where I know this is my next car, but love the 2018 style (bumper and headlights). Problem is I lose RWD, so I have to decide if losing RWD is worth the upgrade to looks hmm. Perfect!
I'd save the money and have more fun with the RWD all day long man!
Also I have a pretty good feeling the rwd will be the one to go up in value do to rarity
@@PerformanceOnWheels You meant RWD there right ;)
Yes.... oops fast typing gets me in trouble 🤭
@@PerformanceOnWheels Yup. Shopping for 2015 RWD last year V8 R was available cars were less available and sold before listed
I'm very interested to see a rolling race between these two. Don't think I've ever seen it happen. Nice video guys
Patience.... There might be a clip in the video coming soon..... There might be some conversation on that as well. Subscribe. Thanks for checking this out and the compliment.
@@PerformanceOnWheels yeah I don't have any patience.. Make it happen! Lol jk.. Look forward to it
Haha!! Should be out tonight.... maybe...
I like the draped rear end of the convertible better. Its even more exotic from the back.
Couldn't agree more about wishing for black as an option on the sideskirts/winglets on the AWD models. I have a 2017 Typer R in polaris white and I love the car but the white sideskirts are just a bit much. I'm currently trying to decide between paint or vinyl wrap in black, but it sure would be nice not to have to deal with that extra expense.
Let us know if you end up doing something and what you decide on.
Chris you can go the the Jaguar dealership and ask them to sell you the 2015 black side skirts for your AWD. You can also ask them to install it for you or you can take it to a garage and have them do the installation.
Thats great to know that dealers do that!
@@lastdragonx appreciate the heads up. I'll look into that.
@@theeubster No prob. Hope it works out.
Very interresting, thanks ☺️
Thank you for watching
How come you guys didn’t drive the 2 cars and explain the differences?
We drove them in this video.
ruclips.net/video/Ru6_0OykuBY/видео.html
I have a 2014 F-Type R, much prefer the rear wheel drive. Keeps you on your toes in the wet. Also over here in the EU the newer models are a lot quieter due to PPF filters for emissions!
Our opinion video on the differences are coming soon. We may talk about both of your comments. 😁. Thanks for commenting. Stay tuned.
I want the 15 Model but i also want the awd Modell.. I want the loudest exhaust but the AWD is robust for the normal day. Hard Choice... . Maybe i would put the RWD always in Snowmode...
Cool videos you make, I love them. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for taking the time to watch them! It is appreciated.
TY for sharing !
Of course!
Waiting for drag race between these two cars guys! :)
😉 soon my friend.
What gaskets needed replaced on the 2017R?
Don't remember exactly. Somthing in the rear diff
Don't worry the 17 interior bits will fail like the 15 in a couple years. The leather is heat and UV damage so the 17 will get it eventually, just a matter of time
Although not awesome..... Thanks for sharing.
Performance On Wheels it already happened on mine and it doesn’t seems like this will be covered with the CPO
heated tires are going to help with the dig? not a chance. 2wd is better with the roll
I had a 2017 F type R and at the end of my lease traded it in for a 2020 F type SVR. I am having difficulty seeing the difference except for the fact that’s the regular R Had a much more beautiful snap crackle and pop exhaust. Are there other differences?
25 more hp and a better interior 🤷
You did not answer my question I am not asking the difference between a four wheel drive and a 2 Wheel Dr. I am interested in the difference between an SVR 2020 and an F type R. My 2017 F type made the best noise possible through the exhaust. Not so the SVR. My service manager cannot answer my question except to say that the SVR is titanium and the R is steel.
The differences between the cars are minimal, that was my previous comment. If you are asking specific to the exhaust, it has been my and many others understanding, the exhaust has been neutered with software as the years progress.
@@PerformanceOnWheelsRubbish answer from you!
The spring rates and roll bars are different on the SVR,resulting in a better ride and increased turn in.
The back has softer springs.
You should know this, considering you made this video!
You bought an SVR and don't know anything about it.
That's a bit silly!
Awd I want one my dream car
Just wait until you see tonight's video😳
Looking forward to it bud
Every car is a supercar with kids, today. But there is only one superman.
🦸
Which one are you buying?
I really want to buy a 2015 but I can't find one within 500 miles that has less than 30K miles and none have only one owner. Because of this fact, probably the multiple owner aspect more than the mileage, I'm really sort of forced to go with a 2017awd. Keeping my fingers crossed that something will appear in fhe next couple weeks because my lease is up on my current vehicle the first week in August. I've been looking for a few months and really only regret one vehicle which was a 2017 with 11k miles, one owner, it was a convertible which I really didn't want but it was priced at $49K and it was dark green which is a rare color and it looked so nice.. I've seen other rare colors but they've always look kinda hokie. Like purple or light blue, whuch isn't terrible but it has a god awful jaguar decal along both quarter panels. Anyway, that is where I'm at. Not sure what I should do.
@@kevinquartemont2313 I always get hung up on buying a one owner vehicle myself. If you buying a low mileage car that is a specialty car like this, perhaps it does not matter as much? Wait a couple days and watch our next video? Maybe it will change your mind 😁😉
@@PerformanceOnWheels thank you very much. I'm waiting, anxiously anticipating, the next video. Thanks again for all your help so far.
@@kevinquartemont2313 Of course any ideas for videos you would like to see in the future
Both are fun, 1 is scary
Your 15's loose leather instrument cluster cover is not original. I have a 14 that looks identical to your 17.
Interesting.
@@PerformanceOnWheels
The center stripe is a hexagonal pattern. Its not real obvious what its actyally made of. I have the full stitched leather dash, too.
"I-Talian" .....
Indeed
He lost me when he said the AWD will win in all races lol
Maybe not all.....RWD will pull from a roll Everytime. Check out our other video.
@@PerformanceOnWheels
The 15 needs actual tires. P-Zeros are standard on a 134 HP Mini.
The 15 is faster, but not with P-Zeros.
You can get the pzeros to hook with no spinning. They need to be very hot however.
@@PerformanceOnWheels
I'm in texas and tried burnouts on 260F ambient days. I gave up and cheaped out on 4Ss - better but still totally overwhelmed with RWD (tuned). Now I have Cup 2s and I'd call them ok, but still not great. Shoulda went straight to R888Rs.
R888's are 🔥🔥
@@PerformanceOnWheels
I hope so. There arent many cars in 2020 pushing 330 ft-lbs to one tire. Thats a Porsche 911 engine on each wheel. Plus, doesn't have AWD power train losses and weight.
I better lose some weight 😂
🏋️🏃😁
Am I seeing hydraulic lines to steering rack on that jag at 5min 6 sec mark
I'm not sure
@@PerformanceOnWheels found answers, hydraulic steering went away same year manual transmission came
Interesting
You do all this comparison and not compare how it drives!?
Thats our other video! 2 part video go check it out on your Channel which one fits your personality!
