- I am no electrician by any means. Just a guy trying to set up a dishwasher and had an issue with the power cord. I tried to look online to find out which was the black and which is the white wires on a power cord. I couldn't find any videos, so I made my own.
Four years later and this video is still saving lives. Thanks for this 🙏
THANK YOU COREY!!! This is a MUCH NEEDED video!! Why in the hell they don't label these wires is beyond me. I wasted a ton of time myself. FINALLY stumbled upon your video and what a relief... it's the little things in life that make the biggest difference. Thanks again for taking the time to inform the public of this.
Still relevant in 2024... thanks again.. liked and sub'd
The best video I’ve ever watched on RUclips. This saved us, our cord wasn’t color coded.
what is up with that? Is it that difficult?
@@tomcarrano2117I'm with you on this one man and he didn't even explain that the red wire is going to tie into the white side and the black one's going to tie into the white and it's going to be backwards he started with red and green and then ended up with white and black
OK - so this video is 2+ years old, but I still want to comment. If there was some way to buy you a beer I would - I went to install dishwasher, pulled out the cord it came with, nothing was marked. Every dishwasher video had white/black/green ends. Mine was gray on each
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this
I literally have the same chord and could not figure this out. YOU ARE THE MAN!!
Dude you’re a lifesaver I almost wired this backwards!
OMG thank you! I'm sitting here reading the directions and texting everyone I know. LIFE SAVER!
I am so glad you did not take the whole hour to explain that. Thanks
You rock 🤘💯awesome video brief and straight to the point..
Fast quick tip
Middle is green ground.
The smooth outer is black
The ribbed outer is white
But I'm pretty sure the red wire ties into the into the White and black wire ties into the white side... That part is the confusing end
TY!!! Ribbed - white. Smooth - Black. That is now written on the kick plate of the dishwasher for future reference.
I trust you Codey! It works 🤩
THANK YOU !!!!!!! I cut the end off and there was no color wires and I've been trying to search utube and Google for way to long and happen to come across so Thank u for making this video.

for one.. you can get a multi meter from Harbor Freight for $7.00 or two... just stick your tongue on it... :) just kiddn.. don't try that at home with 120v a 9v is okay to test.. thanks for the video.. helped alot I have same issue but hooking up to my LED lights and a power adapter 120v to 5v 60a out...
THANK YOU....SMART CHOICE COULDVE DONE BETTER
Saved my life and my husband's.
Thank you SO much!!
I actually hope you are kidding about "took you forever", Really though the real question is this you said red green and black coming from the washer, then you finish with white green and black how do those match up. Green is always ground but common isn't always white. Because when you tone it out with a meter the black ends up tying into the red wire and the white ends up tying into the black wire that's confusing to somebody who is DIY or does not put their brain to it, it's like adding an extension cord (not code) with R/B)G to an appliance with B/W/G. Goes RB/BW/GG.. idk why it's this way. It just is though. Merica😂 we do what we want even at our own expense 😢
Thank you Cory!
That's helpful
