I have a catalog question. Do you create new catalogs for all of your clients? I have one giant catalog with a bazillion photos and am wondering if I should have done things differently? Or does it really matter regarding performance of Lightroom?
I personally have a different catalog for each session/client and I believe that's what KJ does too. I find that it helps me organize myself better. I put the LR files in one folder on my desktop, and then inside that I have folders that have the year on them (so if I shot a session in 2024, I'd put it in the 2024 folder), and then inside those they are sorted by name. For me that is so much easier. Then all I have to do when I want to go into the catalog is go into the folder and find the catalog I want. I usually do families, couples (engagements included), and seniors....not weddings or anything....yet. So I name my catalogs like this (made up names for an example): John and Wendy Smith Engagements 2022. I ALWAYS include the type of session and the year so that if they somehow get messed up, I don't have to dig to find when I took the photos or what they were for. This helps also if you get repeat clients and you want to differentiate what catalog is what at a glance. I'll give another example. I took some fall minis of my friend and her little boy. So I named the catalog (fake names for privacy) Dax and Laura Andersen Fall 2024. I used his name first because the main reason for the session was to get pics of him, but I got her in them too. Hope that helped. Sorry that was long
What settings do you recommend for digitals and for printing on canvas? A wedding photographer isn’t willing to export to PNG or Tif… only willing to do jpg
So helpful! Its all the little LrC "tricks" that I have yet to discover, so thank you!
Congrats on 100,000! Always great content!
Sometimes I just add extra green and blue to prevent the skin colour being changed
This is very useful!
Glad it was helpful!
amazing tips!
