You are such a wonderful teacher, Katelyn. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the vast amount of educational resources you have created over the years for photographers like me. I am always wanting to learn, grow, and improve as a photographer, and I learn best from organized, encouraging, truly knowledgable photography instructors like you. Please don't ever stop teaching!!!! 🙏
I've been struggling with the switch from LR to LRC for some time, but you've helped me tremendously, Katelyn just with this video alone ... thank you so much!
Very helpful! I'm a newby and just shot my first wedding I have 5 different files and have been trying to figure out what I'm doing for 2 weeks. This video made lightroom so much clearer! Thank you!
I loved this so much! Thank you for breaking it down a bit. You truly have such a gift in teaching. I'd love to understand more about the color mixer, color grading, and callibration tools.
This was great! I have been wanting to use light room for a while and then I chicken out. I’ve only used P.S. You have made it look so much easier than I thought and so clear in your explanations. I can’t wait to dive in. 🎉
Hi, you start by showing an external drive of photos with a file of your "600 favorites." You said that you don't import to Lightroom to cull. So, how did you get a separate file of 600 favorites? Where did you do that selection process, to have them on an external drive that way?
Great video, I purchased your consistency course a few days ago and was let feeling a little confused as the Lightroom classic version I had did not match what was being taught on the course. This video somewhat has helped me fill the gaps.. ie I was very confused about split toning as I could it find it at all in my LRC version. But I not see it’s had an upgrade and a name change. Will you be updating your course at all to help with some of this confusion on the changes?
I'm new to LrC. I took some photos at the beach of a large family. Once home and editing the photos I tried to mask the sky. For the most part it was great but there were a few places between the family members heads that did not receive the mask. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks so much!
Would love it if you would teach on Lightroom classic, one video per category of editing. Really slow, really broken down to the most elementary molecule.
Once I pick the photos I want to edit and upload them to lightroom, it makes all of my images go dull… it nearly defeats the purpose of me shooting in raw. what am i doing wrong. all of my images look as if i shot them on auto 😭
So what happens if I don’t have a SD card inserted? When I go to import I have so many weird images which pop up which has nothing to do with my photo library. I cannot access my photo library on Lightroom classic whereas on library mobile they were already in there. So far I’ve learned that I’ve had to go into Photos export it as an unedited version and then drag it into Lightroom classic is this easiest way to do it ?? Otherwise I can just plug my camera straight into my Mac and import photos straight to Lightroom from there. I’m just talking about my previous raw photos
I'm trying to Tether with the orange Tether cord, i downloaded light room, but cant tether it. How and where to i get Light Room Classic? I can only find lightroom on the app
Seems like there are a lot of things you [ don't use ] so for someone like me (a beginner when it comes to using LR), there are a lot of things I am NOT learning from this video. Referring to "masking", as a ardent Photoshop user, I correlate this to Layer masks (and Alpha Channels) and creating either selections or masks in Photoshop........but I can not determine if there is an actual correlation between masking in LR and masking in PS. My particular work involves creating very intricate Selections within a given image and saving these Selections in the Channels palette so I'm not sure if we are talking about the same (or similar) thing or not. ???? You have outstanding teaching skills but if you are not going to touch upon so many things (that you don't use), our "learning" is being hampered. However, I should remind everyone (including myself), your tutorials are "free" so we should not expect a comprehensive course so if you consider my comments out of line, please excuse me. Don't know if this is the place to ask but: How in the heck do you open an image that you're working on in LRC, in Photoshop? ACR and PS have always been my "home".
I had high hopes for your video. You started off well but quickly stopped. I can't believe you skipped white balance, contrast, luminosity, saturation... What a beginner needs: In the Develop Module, go down LINE BY LINE and EXPLAIN each item. Keep your explanations SIMPLE. Tell us what it does. USE the slider to SHOW us. Example: Explain White Balance. What is it? What does it do? USE the slider to SHOW us the changes. Go down one line. Explain THE NEXT ITEM. What is it? What does it do? USE the slider to SHOW us the changes. Go down one line, etc. Lastly, TELL US HOW TO SAVE CHANGES/FILE.
You started off saying you were explaining to your mother. You pro's have to realize us beginners don't understand the terms. Start with Navigator and define each category. CATALOG? The problem with us older photographers is that "intuitive" means the instructor doesn't know how to explain a function. I know many people that have purchased LR and don't use it because it gets too complicated too fast.
I'm your mom and you lost me at about the 4th minute you started off beautifully simple and basic but got sidetracked onto many other features and got too deep.

I apologize for watch 5 other of your videos without subscribing, that ended today, this was the one!!! Great job!!!
I loved this so much! Thank you for breaking it down a bit. You truly have such a gift in teaching. I'd love to understand more about the color mixer, color grading, and callibration tools.
Great video. I love all the things you can do more easily now in LRC, particularly with masking and just selecting people and objects.
I have used Lightroom in the past but not often in recent years and 🤯 Thanks for sharing! I want to get back into it now!
I'd love to know about color range and luminance range... what can you do with that in masking? This is AWESOME btw. Appreciate it.
Would love a video on masking!
Please do a mini course or another series of RUclips videos on masking! That would be super super helpful!
This has been the best tutorial regarding LRC, we thank you!!!
Hi Katelyn, How often do you create a new catalog?
This was great! I have been wanting to use light room for a while and then I chicken out. I’ve only used P.S. You have made it look so much easier than I thought and so clear in your explanations. I can’t wait to dive in. 🎉
Great Video thanks again God bless you Katelyn James 😊❤
Thanks. Great tutorial.

Definitely interested in masking in LRC!

good informative video
Do you edit on a laptop or a desktop computer. What do you recommend?
You are great! -Erik
Yay!!! Thank you!

When does grandma download, save, and export?
After you mask someone how do you save your work?

when I open lightroom, I see nothing like your screen. Cant get started. It seems that there is a difference in the LR that I have....
I a right clicking and it doesn’t let me get rid of those other titles. What am I doing wrong?
Unfortunately you can't pirate lightroom anymore so have to change it to capture one

Baahaaa!!! 😂😂😂
You started out at the beginning then when you went to the develop mode you lost me.
6 minutes in, your mother is hopeless lost. Start with a photo and show us how to edit it. Don't go through every feature.
total novice you lost me in the first couple of minutes couldn`t keep up with the curser
lightroom was so scary for me but now - iam gonna be a queen at that thanks tto youu
