You hit the nail on the head with Brock not needing to win the rumble. It was so obvious when he entered that people starting leaving the event. Also the mania sign couldn’t handle the pyro this year, caught on fire… twice.
I was at this event, and when Leasner came out at 30, you could feel the air being taken out of the stadium. Also, the sign that caught fire was the Mania sign.
But if your tryna book those matches then your “Main Events” don’t involve your 3 biggest stars, not to mention the belts you have to take off of them. WWE is not in a spot to book their second tier stars in the main event. Obviously that’s on them.
@@AdubsMMA Actually, before the men’s rumble the announcer said the winner gets a title shot at Wrestlemania. After Brock won she added ‘main event’. Main event wasn’t said before the rumble started, so they didn’t have to do it as they constantly change the narrative to fit whatever they want anyway.
@@AdubsMMA Seth Rollins vs Brock Mania 35 and Sheamus vs Bryan Mania 28. Both Royal Rumble winners. Both didnt main event. That claim is lofty and changes whenever WWE want it to fit their narrative
In my mind I like to think the whole time the ref is knocked out the replacement starts running from one side of the arena alllllll the way through the back to the ring, hence why it takes like 20 fucking minutes and they don't seem to see ANYTHING that happens between then.
I believe WWE missed a golden opportunity with Mickey James, how big it would be to have a title for title match with either Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch and one of them winning and going to TNA belittling the knockout division and creating so much heat there smh
This was a big disappointment in relation to the booking. The best match of the night was Roman v. Seth and they messed the ending up. This just showed that WWE cannot build talent at this point. They are in a stalling pattern despite multiple great storylines they can play out. I mean, what was wrong with Baszler, Belair or even Charlotte winning the rumble. On the mens side, McIntyre vs RKBro, or leave Happy Corbin and Moss. I’d even take Seth Rollins at the 30 spot facing Owens for the shot at it. But no, we got Brock Lesnar. WWE just destroyed it’s own main card build for Wrestlemania.
You are speaking so much sense with all of that, everyone complaining about no new stars or no one to there level but we’re seeing them do this in front of our eyes with Roman, no one is “on his level” so like what if he gets injured or leaves you struggle to fill his spot because you pushed someone so far ahead to everyone else it’s just pointless writing, I don’t want to watch Roman vs brock for the 20000 time
@@nicholsstinson8646 what if Brock decides he wants to go on holiday for 7 months while Roman gets injured? Who is the main event? It’s sad, Big-E, Seth, KO, and a half dozen others on either brand are ready to be in that spot, but I don’t know if they’ll get there. Also, did I miss a reason Cesaro wasn’t in the rumble? I genuinely keep up only with ups and downs, and sometimes all info doesn’t stick. But I don’t remember hearing anything about Cesaro being injured or unavailable
You know the fans play a role in this also right? Promotions can push all they want but if the fans truly don't support that talent then the promotion will turn to the sure thing
On a side note, I don't know if it is part of WWE plan to erase Triple H's legacy, but he may even lose his reputation to the one who regularly buried any other talent, since I think that Charlotte may be close to take that spot from him.
There's a lot of potential for long term story telling after this event but I bet they'll only focus on maybe 2-3 that actually happened. Overall a huge disappointment after getting hyped up so much.
Are u surprised? WWE survives off of hyping and event just to disappoint. The shot sighted fans never catch on. Their product will remain garbage as long as people keep tuning in regardless
@@Raddon Negative nancy's lol, I'll watch any company any day of the week, I won't stop watching WWE unless they become a true kids show all because of nostalgia and just love for pro wrestling, it's hard to ignore a company that has a great roster in terms of wrestling, not entirely in terms of management and writing. WWE is great when they want to be, but man are they bad when they're bad.
Back then the rumble was about pushing stars to the main event and current main event a chance to add to their legacy. Now they’re getting lazy with stars getting eliminated way to early, to many past winners, and stars who did win not winning the main event even though they deserve it. One of my favorite events and they’re taking away what makes it so special.
This was an event that actually had so much hype and so much build up to that I actually wanted to watch the whole thing. But I definitely knew I made a mistake when WWE decided to WWE literally in the first match, a championship match nonetheless, that had such great build and actually had the slight feeling of Seth winning
I knew the paper per vi….. premium live event was a dud after that horrendous finish. That match was so good, amazing kick outs, and the story telling was superb. The finish took the air out the building. Very disappointing
I was watching with my brother and at Lashley vs Lesnar I said half jokingly, "Lashley gonna win this with some BS interference, then Brock enters and wins the RR." He said, "That's f**king terrible!" Anyway, we were both right
I feel the ending to Seth/Roman was perfect from a storytelling standpoint. Roman just cannot defeat the ghost of his past, can’t put to bed the betrayal of his “little brother”, and just snaps and chokes him out until he can’t hear his laugh any more
It just sadly showed how weak WWE's rosters are. Too many random former wrestlers in the women's match and absolutely zero plans for the current ones. The two Rumble matches felt like a waste of time. The only PPV quality match was the first, the rest was just there.
The returning women were fine, it's the way they were handled that was the issue. There was so much potential that just wasn't utilised. They could have had something fun with Naomi and Cameron, maybe teaming up and working together to get rid of Sonya.
The WWE has told us very clearly that no one is worth watching except for Roman and Brock. It's a shame - the roster is full of talent rotting on the vine.
I mean Ronda came back from what I thought was extensive training , I thought wrong. She looked terrible in the Rumble giving a half asx performance. I was not impressed and wish they would’ve gave the opportunity to someone more deserving… (Bianca) instead of a below average part timer
You thinking Ronda came back from extensive training sounds more like a you problem than a Ronda problem since she clearly said she is taking a break to start a family and she had a kid in the meantime
@@MrNegativecreep07 THANK YOU. That was honestly what bothered me the most about Rhonda. It honestly seems disrespectful to the actual full time wrestlers, alot of whom never get the chance to go to Wrestlemania in their whole career, to then give a one way ticket to a woman who has done nothing but shit on wrestling since she left her cushy run.
This is the ONE PPV I make a deliberate effort to watch - and I went to bed pissed. The surprises weren’t really all that surprising. The winners aren’t anyone to get excited about. Never have I ever realized that Simon wore a shirt that I wanted so badly. But in all seriousness, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought that Brock didn't need the Rumble win to get to Roman.
Yet again, Simon saves me the most precious thing in the world, time. I have saved hundreds of hours over the last 5 years not watching WWE programming.

No joke! Bobby gets destroyed and only wins cuz Roman helped him and then treated the WWE title like trash afterwards. Shows what the company thinks about Raw for sure lol
14:39 this is the exact same way Brock Lesnar lost his title match with Eddie Guerrero at No Way Out 2004. A ref bump then an interference by Goldberg then Eddie wins. Same old storyline in 2022.
People need to stop putting so much faith in WWE to be a good program these days. They dont care what the fans like, predictable winners, lame finishes, they dont care about their midcard stars, and they bait everyone with nostalgia. Its sad
Simon brought up something I noticed. A lot of times elimination was about to happen and it would just get broken up for no reason. Makes it hard to suspend disbelief. There were also a bunch of spots where 5 people were trying to throw one person over that was just barely clinging on, and no one just went outside and yanked em out. We you can really tell things are being held back it feels bad
I have to say simon is a trooper watching and taking notes on wwe for so long. Simon, osw, Redbar, true crime loser, Irish Mike, brendan schaub are amongst the best things on RUclips for different reasons.
Simon, according to several sources, WWE had cheers piped in for Rhonda, the crowds were not that thrilled to see her, they piped more for Mickie James.
Maybe the DQ is how we get Seth vs Roman vs Lesnar at WM. I hated when I saw the DQ finish, especially after seeing how everything went down in that match, but after Lesnar won the Rumble, maybe Seth is going to take Roman's moment away from him again
Unfortunately it will most likely be like Balor title shot and Seth doesn’t get a rematch. Vince thinks his only draws are Brock and Roman. And it took 7 years for fans to enjoy Roman but all that matters is Vince is entertained.
Couldn't agree more with everything you said! I felt so deflated by the end of it, and the finish was so obvious so early that any "shock" value it could have made went right out the window. I'm just so tired of seeing the same ol', same ol' with WWE. They have so many talented wrestlers who just get pushed aside for the big names and I don't mind that here and there... I get the whole "big name" aspect, but it just feels like no one has a shot at reaching the top until the "big names" are no longer there.
I think I’ve slowly become Simon. I was picturing my ups and downs and it’s literally 1:1 on the matches. I do also give the camera work a down because the fast cuts were seizure forming at points.
@@tmobeygee5351 worse. They had cameras that jumped up and down during spots to make it look like the hit had any power. The fast cuts are to hide that fact the hits don’t connect whatsoever. I know wrestling is fake so I don’t need an aneurism to help me with that.
I've spent the entire night trying to figure out why the Mens rumble was booked so badly compared to the womens... So many botches in the mens rumble, no NXT talent, no returns, hell no "forbidden door". I'm fine with Brock winning, but there were way too many duos in the rumble it was incredibly painful to watch. I know they won't do it, but I would love for them to implement a ruling where only 1 member of a duo/tag team can enter the rumble match.
Omos has got to be the easiest big man to eliminate, strictly from a physics aspect. Center of gravity is so high. I’d rather one on one him over a Mark Henry or Otis build.
I doubt they’ll go with it but the “alliance” of The Bloodline and The Hurt Business could leave open a possible Triple Threat match to have Bobby unify the belts at Mania. I really doubt that would happen but I’d be all for it.
@@DebitAdams is it? I thought Bobby and MVP still referred to THB when Cedric and Shelton first got kicked out. Figured it would operate the same this time.
First event I’ve seen in years and the best way to sum it up is uninspired. There was nothing that made it feel like something was on the line. They need to build multiple stars and make people care.
So many issues with this Rumble but shout out to Ivory cutting a promo while getting thrown out of the ring… Amazing… And Bad Bunny for a dude who doesn’t wrestle for a living, is actually pretty damn good and I was expecting him to do a Drew Carey as soon as he saw Brock Lesnar, esp. since he’s touring very soon, but he was like “no I’ll take the F-5” so props to that dude
I thought it was an okay rumble. By the time I turned off my tv I looked back at the last few hours and determined I had fun. I didn’t hate the Roman/Seth finish, but I agree it suffers from WWE’s bad habit of booking too many DQs. In a vacuum I thought this one was a viable finish considering their history and the build. Roman was blinded with rage and caught some heel heat while Seth can still claim Roman has never beaten him in the big time match. If there was ever a time for WWE to do a time limit draw, this was it. Alas, that’s not their cup of tea. The rumbles themselves were okay. Very predictable but part of that is on me for reading the potential spoilers on Ronda thus ruining the surprise. I convinced myself Bayley and Paige would return and so when neither did it felt like a letdown, but that’s on me for having unrealistic expectations. As far as Ronda and Brock winning, I don’t mind either. I understand why fans don’t think these two “part timers” should get the spotlight, but that’s like being disappointed that your cat isn’t a dog. This is just what WWE has become. At least now there’s a thriving alternative to WWE’s brand of sports entertainment.

The mens royal rumble match was terrible. It was so predictable that Brock Lesnar was going to win and the surprise entrant to the match was Shane McMahon. 😂🤣
I know everyone has a problem with Brock Lesnar winning me including but i think now Brock Lesnar can go to SmackDown and run his mouth how did he get into Royal Rumble match yeah it was because of Paul Heyman and i am really enjoying this storyline whose side Paul Heyman is 😂😂
Seth Rollins entrance was the best part of the Rumble! That was the opening segment! And then it went all down hill from there! No one wants Roman vs. Brock AGAIN!!!
Being there in person was absolutely insane. While the pay per view itself was kind of a disappointment, it was just fun being there. I wanted to see Liv/Bianca/Rhea, but Ronda’s pop was amazing.
The ending to the men's royal rumble was a real head scratcher but I enjoyed the rest of the matches regardless of the ups and downs. Now I guess I'll have to wait and see how things go heading into Wrestle mania.
The fact that full time stars like Bianca and Rhea keep getting wasted is criminal. Rousey doesn't even care and she said so herself in the interview afterwards.

Fr they kept talking about the forbidden door and let mickie James come, thought they’d bring Moose or something, they could’ve Atleast included more NXT guys
I thought #30 was going to be The Rock (or Cena, or Goldberg)
And not even one NXT appearance. I was waiting for Pete Dunne, Walter, Grayson Waller or literally anybody
You hit the nail on the head with Brock not needing to win the rumble. It was so obvious when he entered that people starting leaving the event. Also the mania sign couldn’t handle the pyro this year, caught on fire… twice.
It's like the Universe was trying to tell us something... twice.
I swear I was there ad diddnt see the sign burning😭
@@khalilking1 I was there too and didn’t see it. I think you could only see it from the backside
I did see them leave.
Brock lesner has already won the rumble he won in in either in 2003 or 2004
I was at this event, and when Leasner came out at 30, you could feel the air being taken out of the stadium. Also, the sign that caught fire was the Mania sign.

@@Tyr_Magnus yeah i know man 😂.
I feel like WWE could've gotten to Ronda/Becky and Roman/Brock without having Ronda and Brock win the rumble matches. The stories were already there.
Yeah, I didn't understand why Roman attacked Brock when he wanted to avoid him till a few weeks before.
But if your tryna book those matches then your “Main Events” don’t involve your 3 biggest stars, not to mention the belts you have to take off of them.
WWE is not in a spot to book their second tier stars in the main event. Obviously that’s on them.
Yeah but the winners of the rumbles are the main events at wrestlemania... So they wanted Rhonda and brock in those spots... So no, they couldn't.
Anyone else not watch WWE, but watch Simon's Ups and Downs to stay in the loop?
I do watch WWE ppvs tho. At least most of the time.
Most times I’d rather what up and downs than the actual show you are the man Simon
Always funny how replacement referees just slid in to count pinfalls, completely ignoring anything illegal that happened just before that
💀💀
god damn dude, u just ruined the illusion for me lol
In my mind I like to think the whole time the ref is knocked out the replacement starts running from one side of the arena alllllll the way through the back to the ring, hence why it takes like 20 fucking minutes and they don't seem to see ANYTHING that happens between then.
Simon desperately trying to stay positive but WWE is like "no".
They havent created a main event level star in about 5/6 years and at this point I am not sure they know how to do it anymore.
@@Raddon I was gonna argue Becky Lynch, but she became a main event star in spite of them not because of them
You know the fans play a role in this also right? Promotions can push all they want but if the fans truly don't support that talent then the promotion will turn to the sure thing
On a side note, I don't know if it is part of WWE plan to erase Triple H's legacy, but he may even lose his reputation to the one who regularly buried any other talent, since I think that Charlotte may be close to take that spot from him.
charlotte is becoming the women’s version of triple h’s reign of terror.
Definitely
Charlotte is worse i think
@@cliffordjackson3 At least HHH's reign of terror only last for 3-4 years. Charlotte started this since 2015 and she's still going.
There's a lot of potential for long term story telling after this event but I bet they'll only focus on maybe 2-3 that actually happened. Overall a huge disappointment after getting hyped up so much.
There will be no long term story telling after this or any other event in WWE. That era is dead.
Are u surprised? WWE survives off of hyping and event just to disappoint. The shot sighted fans never catch on. Their product will remain garbage as long as people keep tuning in regardless
@@ManorexicPanda The same old dumb shows for the same old dumb fans. And I am ok with saying this because I was one of those fans for too long.
@The Wiseone nah it was very predictable, the rumble before you never knew who was going to win and who was returning
They're gonna run it back at the saudi show. And i hate that I'm positive about that.
I was watching with my brother and at Lashley vs Lesnar I said half jokingly,
"Lashley gonna win this with some BS interference, then Brock enters and wins the RR."
He said, "That's f**king terrible!"
Anyway, we were both right
As soon as "Brie Mode" started playing, I could feel Simon die a little.

There was no Finn Balor or Cesaro but they found space for bad bunny and Shane McMahon
The same with woman rr no asuka or alexa or womens from nxt but they found space for bella twins of fox
I feel the ending to Seth/Roman was perfect from a storytelling standpoint. Roman just cannot defeat the ghost of his past, can’t put to bed the betrayal of his “little brother”, and just snaps and chokes him out until he can’t hear his laugh any more
agreed
It just sadly showed how weak WWE's rosters are. Too many random former wrestlers in the women's match and absolutely zero plans for the current ones. The two Rumble matches felt like a waste of time. The only PPV quality match was the first, the rest was just there.
The roster ain´t weak at all. (Including some of the talent that was released 20/21) it´s probably the most talented of all time!
@@kenshigo3833 can you introduce me to your plug I want what you're smoking

Plus all she's done in her time off is dump on wrestling and its fans. Why are people cheering her?
Bianca should not have won the rumble, she already won one
You thinking Ronda came back from extensive training sounds more like a you problem than a Ronda problem since she clearly said she is taking a break to start a family and she had a kid in the meantime
@@MrNegativecreep07 THANK YOU. That was honestly what bothered me the most about Rhonda. It honestly seems disrespectful to the actual full time wrestlers, alot of whom never get the chance to go to Wrestlemania in their whole career, to then give a one way ticket to a woman who has done nothing but shit on wrestling since she left her cushy run.
@@MrNegativecreep07 WWE fans hate themselves lol
This is the ONE PPV I make a deliberate effort to watch - and I went to bed pissed. The surprises weren’t really all that surprising. The winners aren’t anyone to get excited about. I got back into WWE a few years ago because of the flow of new, interesting talent. But between all of the releases and events such as this, it just proves that they’re committed to living in the past.
Never have I ever realized that Simon wore a shirt that I wanted so badly.
But in all seriousness, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought that Brock didn't need the Rumble win to get to Roman.
Akuma didn't train Ken and Ryu, but I guess it's still cool, nonetheless.
Yet again, Simon saves me the most precious thing in the world, time. I have saved hundreds of hours over the last 5 years not watching WWE programming.
I couldn't help but keep chuckling because I absolutely love the shirt Simon is wearing
Man Simon you were the most generous about this whole event. Cheers dude

Charlotte going over Rhea every time is a prime example of why WWE is having issues building stars. Rhea deserves better.
The one moment i absolutely hated was that Owens hit Shane with 2 superkicks in a row, then Shane just eliminated Owens right away. Makes no sense...
But Shane is "the greatest ever"

McMahons have super powers. Duh🙄

That Brock and Bobby video package was the best video package I’ve see for a title match in a long time.
You said it at the end. Brock, since he is a free agent, could’ve just gone to SD and boom he’s in the main event of WM vs Roman. Very disappointed
I could watch Simon videos all day. Dude is such a delight. Can't believe he's younger than me.
What also realy crappy was? That the Dominik & Rey Storyline from the past Weeks never happened. They even had no in-Ring Time together! 👎
I have to say simon is a trooper watching and taking notes on wwe for so long. Simon, osw, Redbar, true crime loser, Irish Mike, brendan schaub are amongst the best things on RUclips for different reasons.
As the great Vince McMahon would say nobody remembers the start just how it finishes... How the turntables
"Brock Lesnar, she's going to Mania."🤣🤣🤣 You made my day, Simon. Thank you so much.
I liked seeing Ivory with the Right to Censor. That made me happy
Roman hit Seth 20 times with a chair and I was still cheering for Roman after Seth's SmackDown rant.
That's freakin' heel work Seth Rollins.
One day I will travel to England and challenge Simon Miller to a good ol wrestle.
Keep seth away from thr main event
At least they didn’t have any of the ‘shaking camera’ to sell punches.
If you can get one leg up it's pretty much over for him
And he sucks

I doubt they’ll go with it but the “alliance” of The Bloodline and The Hurt Business could leave open a possible Triple Threat match to have Bobby unify the belts at Mania. I really doubt that would happen but I’d be all for it.

To me this a sign they should take a break from kofi spots for awhile
When happy Corbin came out I was screaming in the crowd and happy for him.
