My roommate who isn't a wrestling fan was casually in the room when I had the Rumble on. Jokingly said "ya know what, this guy is my pick, he's going the distance." When he saw Gunther. Roommate then ended up being so impressed by Gunther that after the Rumble he literally asked specifically to see more Gunther matches and we ended up staying up all night watching him vs Sheamus vs Dunne, both Dragonov matches, hell even his match against Will Osprey in Defiant Wrestling, and my roommate now has decided Gunther is his favorite wrestler because of the fact he literally could watch some chops and hard strikes without wincing.

Jey walking out was so unexpected, but the more I thought about it, it made sense. Jey was beaten into submission by Roman. Seeing someone he just accepted be brutalised broke him.
my hopium was that either jey or sami takes the universal championship off of reigns night 2, after cody is the one to actually give the first pin to the tribal chief. idk. its hard to tell who in the hell actually dethrones him first. but i do know by the end of night 2, everything he has will come crumbling down.
He’s not. He’ll rejoin bloodline at EC when Sami takes on reigns for the universal title cause I do think he gets stripped for the wwe title soon and that’ll set up sami/owens vs usos at mania
And because of that, I am seeing a lot of people pulling for Jey to be considered to take the titles (or at least one of them) from Roman. Just excellent all around.
The ending with Sami turning on the Bloodline was gold. Even though Sami leaving the bloodline was inevitable, it was still heartbreaking to watch, especially when Jey who accepted Sami in the family and walked out on the bloodline after they beat up Sami
Sami turned on Roman; after months of proving his worth and Roman refusing to accept him, Sami realized that Roman just used him. It doesn't help Heyman was being the bird on Romans shoulder. Tomorrow's raw is going to be awesome with what they do with this, but good on Sami for realizing that he was being played.
i mean jey already said he considered sami like a brother, and that ley he was ready to give to sami signaled he was ready to fully accept him as a member of the bloodline, and not just the honorary uce.
Cody Rhodes may have got his moment but mad respect for Walter for being the Iron Man & being the MVP of Royal Rumble match . Hope he will win the next years Rumble match
I actually enjoyed the Pitch Black match as a one-time concept. Being under the UV light didn't detract from anything and was WAY better than that red lighting The Fiend used.
Yeah, I thought it was neat and Bray went all in with the presentation. Like you could see the demon inside. Knight's highlighter tights vs. Bray's horror movie stalking was a cool contrast at the end.
The ending is even more brilliant remembering that Sami and Jey are the ones who retained the Raw tag titles last week. I could see the belts be put on them and that being used as the way to split the tag titles.
It's not just that. The reaction from jey was also a callback to the night Roman destroyed both of them to make them acknowledge him. Long term storytelling at its finest because they show jey progression over the time and Sami changed his view of what should happen
Maybe Jey doesn't show up for the title defence of the smckdown belts and that causes reigns to tell solo to take over or something. And maybe imperium beats then or the bloodline loses. And Jey takes the red titles to sami
it was pretty predictable but for this rumble in particular predictable did not mean it was safe or bad. it was all about the storylines, not just the spectacle of the event, and i absolutely loved that.
Can we discuss the beauty of that last segment? It was Jey that fought Roman in the beginning before he finally caved and accepted him as his tribal chief. It was Jey that was so against Sami. He was the last to accept him. He stood for Sami at his trial... And he was the one to walk away without hurting Sami. It was just... a beautiful addition to this story. I can't wait to see what happens next with Sami, Kevin, Jey, and the Bloodline!
I think these rumbles are a good example of HHHs booking style good solid few high points slightly predictable but in a refreshing comfortable way saving any swerves or shocks to draw attention to something that needs more attention
Gunther is definitely a future multiple time Wrestlemania main eventer. And I’d be down for him vs Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam or Wrestlemania 40 for The WWE Championship

I have to say the bloodline Samy story has instantly become one of the best storylines in WWE history for me. On somewhat par with Bryan vs “The Authority”
Ghunter had an amazing performance in the Rumble and I honestly believe 2023 will be an amazing year for him and the bloodline segment after their match was just pure cinema that you could watch it over and over. I was warm and fuzzy in my tum tum. So good 👌
That last segment, honestly, one of the bestbi have seen in any wrestling company for years, long term storytelling pays off when done right and this was perfection. Also loved the give me an up signs throughout the night, next year we want Simon in the Rumble.
I really liked the Pitch Black match. Though it was a big advert, I actually know LA Knight, we used to work together back in the mid 2000s. Really cool seeing him in a match at the Royal Rumble

The post-match storyline for Samy and the Bloodline... that may be the best thing I've seen in years. I can't recall the last time I heard a pop like that just from a sheer story standpoint. No big entrance. No kick out. Just a choice and a chair and it was the most monstrous pop I've heard.
I like to see people overcome things in my stories. Having #30 Cody beat the man who outworked everyone for over an hour was some of the stupidest writing I’ve ever seen.
I liked the pitch black thing. I just sat through a rumble and it was a nice change of pace highlighting the spectacle that is bray wyatt. The 6 on his head, the paint change, the whole howdy firefly moment. IT was like watching a trailer for what is gonna happen with his story
The ending of the mens Royal Rumble match was so perfect. When Cody came out at #30 we all knew he would win, but he and Gunther made me believe that MAYBE there is a chance that Gunther will actually win this! Plus, the fact that Rey barely broke the record almost two decades ago, only for Gunther to absolutely SHATTER the record this year was amazing. I also loved the booking of Brock Lesnar this year, we have seen him dominate everyone in the Rumble on more than one occasion and I was afraid that this part-timer would once again dominate everyone, only for him being eliminated by Lashley after just a few minutes was perfect.
I'm happy Liv Morgan was able to last as long as she did. Hell, she even technically tied Rhea for longest performance in the Women's Rumble. I knew she wouldn't win, but that finish did make me think she had a good chance. I hope she gets a good push again in the future. Super fun to watch. Just kind of wish her job in the rumble wasn't the glorified jobber. I swear, her entire job was to get up, just to get knocked back down for 5 minutes. At least she got an elimination, and was involved in that amazing finish.
I loved the pitch black match. It was way too short but so was the match between Bianca and Alexa. The ppv could have stood to be an hour longer. They could have fleshed out the short matches that way and worked in another match.
My friends aren't into wrestling but the ending with sami was so good they audibly gasp and they got interested about the story of the bloodline. Such a great ending to the pay-per-view
Love the whole event and some of the matches being short was good to break up the rumbles and the main event . Even though both rumbles the winners were predictable the right ones won and it was a great event way better then last year's . I am excited to see what's next leading to mania

I liked the pitch black thing. I just sat through a rumble and it was a nice change of pace highlighting the spectacle that is bray wyatt. The 6 on his head, the paint change, the whole howdy firefly moment. IT was like watching a trailer for what is gonna happen with his story
I'm so early the video has no audio. My disappointment is immeasurable
The Sami zany section at the end saved the whole rumble. Shocked how the men’s rumble was 1st!!!
It made Gunther look great. It made Cody look awful though. Horrible writing
No audio guys!
Piper vs Snuka... Classic fued reborn
I really hope HHH listens to the crowd reaction and pulls the trigger on Sami getting a match with Roman at Mania.
Liv did ditch a Horsewoman
She might win the chamber
I loved the pitch black match. It was way too short but so was the match between Bianca and Alexa. The ppv could have stood to be an hour longer. They could have fleshed out the short matches that way and worked in another match.
You didn't point out the Simmon give this a up signs....
Simon I'm so glad that Ups and Downs exist. Please reassure me that the retro ones will return soon.
