Just watching this video made me a little teary eyed because Sir George was a Giant in the world of music. Listening to him speak about all of his gear that he's used in some of his legendary recordings is a testament to his incredible musicianship. Thank you for the rich legacy of music that you've left us all to enjoy forever and your musical contributions and the many people that you've inspired with your music .You and the love of your love ,Corrine are together again . RIP :-(
Since the 70s I have been inspired by George Duke and listen to his music nearly every day. All started for me with the Reach for It album. So so funky. A big loss for sure, but lives on when folk like you and I still listen and think about this guy.
George "dukey" duke was a gift for all of us to enjoy he had open heart to help other musicians reach there goals u can hear and see how excited he is to show us his studio and explain what is this and that the sound of the rhodes by playing few notes sure sounds sweet .thanks G.D for opening up your studio and showing us were u made the beauitful music RIP G DUKE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
To watch this man express his happiness over his instruments is worth watching every time. He inspired me to purchase my white-faced Arp Odyssey. Amazing legend and he will be missed.
The love for his craft comes through in this video. He's truly one of our treasures of musical culture. I've always wished that I could play like as he does when I grow up, even 1/4 of that ability and I'm content.
Man that rhodes sound is sweeeeeet. Miss you George, I'm sure ill see you on the other side one day.

I simply love reading all the comments of respect and admiration for Mr. George Duke. I agree with them all and would only add mine to pile on! He shook my hand after a concert and made eye contact like you wish every human would-He was kind, honest, clean, and both willing to give and receive the love. We are all blessed that he followed his incredible style and passion to all the marvelous and beautiful destinations his music creates. Your musical heart is part of my life. Thank you, Mr.Duke. --jazzdaze
RIP George Duke. Not just a great great musician, but a ground breaking electronic Jazz & Fusion Artist and a seriously smart Man. The great American Jazz guys are really amazing guys. When he turned on the Rhodes at 6:20, WOW that is just beautiful.
One of the nicest guys in the music industry, I really enjoyed watching this studio tour - thanks for sharing!. The best thing I see there is how much gear he has, so much old outboard, analogue, VA, computers and all the rest. A lifetime of music gear acquisition syndrome :)
When these guys are all gone they will never be replaced , I hope people understand that. They were the product of a lot of suffering that they knew they were under. The generation after never could reach the heights of this generation be it Jazz, Soul or Funk because their struggle was different. When I Hear people calling Kanye West a "genius" I cringe every time.
A truly versatile artist for whom one label would never fully encompass. Thank you for your musical contribution to my life. Rest in peace, dear brother.
RIP George! Hard to believe just a few months later he died, this man was one of my heroes, not just in the jazz genre but in all of the music industry. Talented from top to bottom, a real nice person, one of a kind indeed. And closing with a tour of Le Gonks West, one of premier recording studios in the L.A area (now sold).
I saw u n Detroit three years ago u gave a hell of a show and I know your next one will also be a sell out. you and frank can do some of ya'll old jams. May you rest in peace, and thank you for all the wonderful music.
A friend and loved by all is off to a new journey to bring a new sound and experience into another Realm, a talent like that will always be busy even in the new world, See you on the other side because i can hear those synth's from the Universe George D
Master minimoog player and rhodes as well, you'll be missed,,thanx for making my love of minimoogs come true! Hope your afterlife journey is a beautiful one! Rip george!!!
He had a Planet Phatt 😎 That crisp Rhodes sound of his was so beautiful! 😍 It’s wonderful and sad at the same time to see him here, he is still as happy and enthusiastic as ever, while clearly being really sick at the same time. 😔
Don Freeman here. Spent a lot of time in the that studio working with Jeffrey Osborne and George as producer. I played keyboards and co-wrote “ Don’t You Get So Mad” with Jeffrey and Michael Sembello who played guitar on that track. We cut the basic tracks at The Complex in Culve😅City which was owned by Maurice White And George Massenberg. The next record I did with Jeff and George we cut basic tracks at Lion Share and did overdubs at George’s studio.
Stephen, did you get to play anything there? :-) Man, every time I see a George Duke interview, he comes off as the most sincere, affable, enthusiastic guy.
Amazing musician, who obviously had a beautiful spirit. And a Bosendorfer man too....why shouldn't we be surprised? Interesting that all the digital guys, George Duke, Stevie Wonder they never gave up on their acoustic pianos. That should tell the rest of us something shouldn't it??
Don't quit Ken.....let him be an inspiration and the wings beneath your fingers. Aquire your instruments little by little....you'll get there. George would be proud!! Peace and love!! 🎹🎹
I wonder if the studio is still there or if the new owners ripped it out. Also, there's been no releases from George's archive. There must be stuff, who owns it now? Miss you George.

As soon as I saw this video I though he looked gaunt, so it doesn't surprise me this was recorded a few months before his death.
IronMan93 they sold all of his things?
R.I.P. Mr Duke your warmth as a person and your prowess as a musician/producer will be sorely missed.
Thanks for the inspiration eternally. R.I.P.
George was a hero of mine. I loved the way he played!
Rest in Peace George Dukes!!! so much passion and love for the music, true legend.

Enjoyed every second of that, seeing the workplace of a master, and that beautiful Rhodes for one...The size of it! Thanks:)
You left us too early, George...but you left us with so many memories and great recordings. R.I.Peace
Am curious about who conducted the interview.. It sounds like Alex Jones when he is not pissed off with the world. Lol! Will forever miss George Duke.
Just think of all the great music that's come out of that studio. George Duke is truly a legend and a master indeed.
RIP George Duke , peace to the family .

Legendary! 🙏🏾
R I P Mr Duke...
You left WAY to early my brother. Pissed. RIP!
A look inside the lab of a master!
I love his reaction to hearing one of his keys out of tune..reminds me of my own reaction..
THE MAN!!
Missing you
Rip. Dukey
What happened to all of his keyboards etc. and his house, studio etc???
After he died they sold the house. When it was for sale it was empty so they probably sold all the equipment or gave it to other family members
@@Steve-mp7by that’s sad. I would have kept all of it and would learn to play to keep his legacy
@@sinedloki9542 That usually happens with children who get inheritances. They sell everything then divide the loot
@@Steve-mp7by you’re right..
@Steve-mp7by he live in the mansion
AFTER SEE-ING WHAT HE HAD I WANNA QUIT...DAMN
Don't quit Ken.....let him be an inspiration and the wings beneath your fingers.
Aquire your instruments little by little....you'll get there.
George would be proud!!
Peace and love!! 🎹🎹
@shasha-muse6054 so me too also
Rest In Peace

RIP SMH...,
HARDCASTLE..
Poor George was so sick and he died a few months later. His heirs gutted the studio and sold the house
Lol he even called it a keytar. I thought pro keyboardists had another name for it but I'll never know. RIP George Duke.
Midi keytar I got a Roland ax
But that time, he was ill...months later, he was gone...
RIP Brother George
