Not a mac kind of person, but I was so blown away by the performance of this little guy (The base M4 version) that I picked one up to play with emulation on! Amazon has them for $550, plus I finally got their visa card so minus $200 for the bonus, then with cashback overall only $332, crazy good computer for that money!!
The video is the M4 Pro, which isn't $550 on Amazon, for anyone seeing this post. Don't be confused, the M4 Pro Mac Mini is far more, starting around $1400 USD.
The 599.99 base is actually affortable for an apple m4 product. I dont even use Apple but the base product imho is good for a family computer for the form factor.
@alexh7513 Sure, any 7840HS or higher based mini PC has better multicore performance, and their 780M GPU is also faster. If you're gaming, don't go Apple anyway, obviously though.
Your content is what I have been looking forward to the most since the M4 Mac Mini was announced. I am so happy that the Mac is becoming a good gaming platform. Even though I don't need a Mac Mini, I might pick one up anyway because it's so cool.
Facts ! I think the future will be these APU chips that are both CPU/GPU . A lot of players will enter the desktop market for your $$$. Mediatek Qualcomm Snapdragon Desktop APu Etc
I hope the newer macs are as good as the mid 2012 Macbook Pro I am still using with Open Core Legacy Patcher. Still working as new for daily regular use. I am tempted to upgrade to this mac mini.
~ GREAT VIDEO ~ FINALLY a 14 / 20 CORE m4 PRO ... NOBODY ELSE , haven't test it out ... all the clips on RUclips are for the basic PRO .. not the 14/20 core one... UGHT I WISH YOU HAD A 48 GB RAM... VERY CURIOUS , if there is actual difference bump from 24 GB and 48 GB of RAM. SINCE , APPLE's RAM works differently than the PC RAM... and GPU AND CPU are both benefit from it !!!
Oculink runs at 64gbps and I think tb5 runs at 120gbps soo I should technically be much faster and better performance. It's still relatively new and this is the second device I've seen use it and yet to see anyone use it with a egpu. I don't thinks there's any egpu board made with tb5 yet
That really is incredible performance in such a small package, right from the factory. However, this configuration is $1800. You could piece together similar performance on the PC windows world for a lot less, although you wouldn’t have the ultra small form factor.
@@t.7527 Mac being a polished experience for gaming? HAH. Allow me to laugh. The amount of games that are available on Mac versus Windows is laughable. Gaming on a Mac is still unnecessarily difficult. It's frustrating because the hardware is finally good enough for quite decent gaming performance. Apple are just schmucks and doesn't want to play nice with any of the existing frameworks like Vulkan (only one example).
Hi, I have a problem. I am running Mahjong Fight Club: Zenkoku Taisenban BLJM60008 on RPCS3 in M4 Mini. The official compatibility list says it is playable with default setting. but some of the graphics is missing. including the most important graphic of the Mahjong is missing. It works on Windows version. Is there any combination of configuration that helps?
Great review, but still just do not see mac ever going to be able to compete how windows PC can be upgradable and more affordable than mac ever will be
The title is ridiculous and the video seems framed at positive performance overall. When it’s really bad at gaming. If it was positioned as a Mac performance leap or price/performance sweet spot for Mac then fine. But this is garbage performance.
Intel can leave. AMD needs a galactic war strategy. NVIDIA needs more lubricants. Qualcomm is slipping cause they're too drunk. Mediatek has acid for blood.
Using Geekbench to compare an M4 Mac against gaming PCs is very wrong. Geekbench uses the iGPU of the M4 for doing a lot of gpu processing that is part of the benchmark, which the gaming PC would always do in the discrete GPU. But Geekbench totally ignores discrete GPUs (by design), and THE ONLY REASON why Geekbench is famous is becuse Apple always uses it (because of that particular reason). So basically, when you use Geekbench in a gaming pc you are forcing it to ignore its discrete GPU (as you were talking about a gaming PC with a high end CPU core ultra we have to assume a gpu is there, as no gaming PC exists in the world with that type of cpu and no discrete gpu ) and then you force it to process typical GPU tasks on its CPU for the benchmark. I understand Apple motivations to do such a technical aberration for their marketing (as their user base is mostly ignorant about technical details anyway), but honestly I don't understand to see the use of Geekbench in an independent youtube channel like this one and specially being the only benchmark software mentioned inthe whole video. Said that, I have to say that this is a very unique channel and the content is magnificent, I truly love this channel, but this particular point feels very wrong to me

@drewnewby Good point, yea just the base M4 which imo is a much better value. The one in this video is 1400+
The one in the video is $1799. Apple has two M4 Pro dies, one is cut down, same name though, just to confuse buyers.

This is one of the best reviews of the new Mac Mini M4 Pro I have seen so far. The gaming and emulation testing really helped me with my decision.
Can't wait to pick one up @ my local flea market 7 years from now when this becomes the old Mac mini 😆.. so I can try this out ..

It is affordable for Apple, but the base M4 benches similar to $350-400 mini PCs in multicore and GPU performance.

You show an Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro and show price of M4 non pro at the end. little confusing at least. Misleading almost.
I wonder if the Apple TV 4k gen 3 can perform to similar levels to play on the living room. Apple should start competing in the console market.
