    Round 1:
    1. create Boxes with console name with A to Z separation (bulky phase by first alphabet of games)
    2. place manuals into box per/alphabet
    Round 2:
    1. separate, re-order and calculate manuals per alphabet/game
    2. Pick best value manuals from box
    Round 3:
    1. Add manuals into missing boxes (easier do this afterwards then during separation phase)

This reminds me of when I used to manage a Babbage's store back in the 90s. When people traded in games for SNES, Genesis, NES, we were told by corporate to "field destroy" the manuals and boxes, for all of those games. I of course didn't do that! Instead, I would keep them in the back room, and offer them to anybody who purchased a used game from our store. Surprisingly, not many people cared about taking the boxes or the annuals for their games. So after the manuals and boxes started taking up too much space in the store, I ended up taking them all home. I ended up with over a thousand manuals, and a couple hundred boxes. To be fair, I had run this by my DM, before doing any of this. He was fine with all of it. I still have many of these boxes and manuals even today.

    • @videogameobsession
      @videogameobsession 3 месяца назад

@@alienvampirebusterswhoyoug8257 It was dumb for stores, such as Babbage's, to destroy them, when they likely could have sold them for so much more money with the boxes and manuals. I heard two reasons for this, from my district manager, and from Babbage's' corporate office. First, I was told that it was due to some sale's associates mixing up trade-in with returned stock. The backroom could very quickly fill up with piles of both. We often had to stop taking trade-ins due to how full our room would get.
The other reason, which seems a bit more believable, was that Nintendo was very unhappy with us selling their used games, especially N64, and Game Boy, for 50% less, whilst having them include the same box and manuals. They likely wanted us to make them less desirable, and marketable, so that people may prefer new over used. I know they really didn't like it when we started putting stickers on their display boxes, which read, "Want to save money? Buy a used copy today!". The Nintendo rep always let me know how much she hated that. ... haha!

I would’ve downloaded the game list per console form somewhere and put those in a spreadsheet. Boxes are emptied into a new container (with a tag on it) and all of the data is loaded into a spreadsheet. Then you have a comprehensive list of what you have and where it is all in one place. Easy to pair and inventory after that.

Wild idea. No clue if it would work. Can you set up a camera to take an image quickly? OCR to text. There appears to be some databases available on line of manuals. Cross reference to identify (lots of tools available to match up random text to a title database). Don't sort the manuals just keep them in the order scanned and create bins of maybe 50 manuals with an identifier similar to way you would store unlike items for ebay sales. The upfront time of physical handling may not be quicker than any other method but the database then saves you time later, provides searching for needed titles, cross reference so that you can pick out most expensive to sell first, and even provide some inventory valuation for insurance purposes. Maybe stupid idea. Use barcodes for the boxes ( assuming they have bar codes).

But I think to answer the rest of your comment I’d ask you, how would you suggest the ownership of these products be reorganized? Literally these were forgotten “trash” that another vendor who paid for all of them originally had laying around. If that vendor decides to sell this later on to group like the CARTP group who will take the time to get this back into collectors hands so be it.

Do you think based on the volume they got they sold above or below pricecharting? And let’s be a little more fair. Specifically things they listed at “buy it now” prices. Because hey, they can set those prices without the frenzied panic auction buying. So they were charging about 450$ for pokemon emerald boxes + inserts + manuals. Well over market price for that. Funny enough, I heard Chase wasn’t even there at the auction.

I’d just go ahead and grab all flagship titles; Pokémon, Mario, Zelda, etc. List them first as they have the highest sales velocity. Because I’ve noticed even rare grails tend to sit. It took me 3 months to sell Pokémon Box and I was at least 15% below price chart.
    And then from there alphabetize.

Do you guys ever come across the monster in my pocket mini figures that came with the game new? Those I imagine are somewhat hard to find these days. I was hoarding about 20 of them in all colors for years....up until I sold my entire collection to buy a house 😞

Can you record Brother Dave opening Pokémon packs? I’d love to see if his luck holds for other types of expensive paper.😂

Absolutely sucked to rent Star Tropics when it would obviously not have that page included in the rental and you'd just run into a dead end lol
