    To me the absolute worst part about garage sales is the start time situations. People post “no earlybirds”, but it doesn’t matter and people will show up crazy early to the sales and disregard it. So alot of the time there’s a moral dilemma/awkwardness to being the jerk that shows up super early against their wishes or you stick to it and show up when it starts or a little earlier. Unfortunately you almost kind of have to be THAT guy to get the good stuff. And then you have the times where they won’t let anyone look until exact time, and everyone already there has to run to the items and compete, and the home owners don’t know what to do and who gets priority. Sometimes you show up on time and they go “oh yeah we finished set up early and people have been coming through it for an hour!” It’s all super awkward and uncomfortable. That’s not even counting you having to just hope no one messaged them on Facebook beforehand and bought the games. It’s just crazy. I’m so happy I resell and collect more than just video games.

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming Год назад +3

      My thought process is that showing up early is fine if the sign is up on the end of the street since that's the last thing people do when setting up most of the time. Also most signs aren't even readable from the street so the average person would just turn onto the street anyways. I'd only ever show up like a half hour early though, anything earlier is egregious and knocking on the door before start time is an absolute no.

    • @jfh.8064
      @jfh.8064 Год назад

      @@ObjoGaming I agree. Half an hour seems pretty fine especially if there’s signs like you said. But around me and other areas people pretty much camp out if games are advertised. Last year there was a local sale and they said they’d have a few Super Nintendo games and some magic cards and NO earlybirds, and I got there 15 mins early and there was 6 dudes camped out down there street waiting outside their cars to pounce on the games. It was literally 4 average SNES games.. and it turns out one for the guys that showed up messaged him the night before so he bought everything and we all just walked away. It was awful.

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming Год назад +1

      @@jfh.8064 I tend to avoid anything that specifically advertises games these days. It's one thing if they just say "video games" but if they're advertising Nintendo or anything they've already been hit with at least 30 Facebook messages, which either means that the stuff is sold or that they now know it's worth something and are changing prices. A lot of time people advertising games also price the stuff according to eBay. I've done a lot better just avoiding sales like that at this point.

      First if the sign is up especially without a time, it is fair game. Second if it is advertized as a late start too bad I'm coming if im in the area. Time is money and now you are ahead of them all.

    Not really a pro's and con's, but a tip I would give is to go to sales not advertised on Facebook. It's good to have a plan and you can get lucky at those, but most of the time a lot of others already have that marked down to hit it as well. My best finds are always free styling and hitting the places kinda off the trail. I always tend to find stuff at mobile parks for some reason. Yard sale con/complaint; signs that are left up after a sale is done leading people astray! Side note - Michael finds so much great stuff! Chase and the boys are whatever you think, but we can all agree that in the end they are actually relatively wholesome with even rather dry attitudes. Some people are having a bad day or whatever and can be mean to chase and them and some are probably just stigma’d by the GoPro… midwest people are probably surprised by the camera, I know I would be at a garage sale if people I didn’t know with a camera showed up. Keep up the good work and push harder or else you’ll never beat the lions subscribers.

    I had a conversation with a full time reseller/collector last week about this. Back then, finding stuff used to be fun especially when you were hunting with another collector. People were more passionate about the finds and there was plenty of good stuff to find. Nowadays, people are more about the value of a game instead of the nostalgic part of it. And there are now more resellers than collectors out there. I quit the hunt and the videos and now just enjoy my collection and watch folks like you who even though they resell full time, still have that emotional attachment to items in their collection 🙂🤙🏽 It took time for even myself to get the FOMO out of my system but it’s much more relaxing now that I stepped away from the fray. Keep pushing that awesome content, CATRP Crew!

    Actually went to my first ever « real score » of a garage sale this weekend. It rained Saturday, so they delayed the sale till Sunday, and I was in the neighborhood Sunday morning, by chance, because I had an appointment early in the area. We were there early-ish, not very early, 9:30, but I think they were just starting out. The guy immediately says « everything is 1$…everything ». He just wanted it gone. There was good stuff there. Video games (ds, 3ds, ps1,2, gamecube), consoles, and board games. But it was all rpg, fantasy, scifi stuff. The games were the kind you get at a hobby store (castle siege 2060 or something, not monopoly), and the video games were all rpgs and Zelda, no Madden 13s or anything. I didn’t bother checking eBay or anything, I just grabbed 20 boardgames and 20 video games, a ps 2, Xbox 360 and controllers, and put it in a box and gave him 50$. What a deal! A couple of the DS games didn’t have cartridges but the box and manual sell for 30$!

I don't think so. They were selling the home for half a million dollars+. They needed the stuff gone. It's peanuts in the big picture. They were happy to have the stuff out of their barn loft. I was super happy to add to my collection and turn a massive profit. I call that a win/win.

    I wouldn't say that yard sale prices have increased because of "youtube re-sellers" like some people will. I think it has more to do with just re-sellers in general as well as the internet. RUclips re-sellers have increased the number of re-sellers and people that do yardsales have noticed. I mean, it's pretty obvious that someone is a reseller when they buy all of the same items. Because of that people tend to look stuff up more often than they would have. Craigslist is the same, it's very difficult now to find good deals on there like you used to.

I had my old phone I was trying to sell, I put it up for what I thought was a reasonable priced based on comps on it's spec, guy buys it, asks a few questions after the fact then says I am a scammer and the exact model does not exist which is after me showing it that it does in fact exist. Got negative feedback and he refunded(luckily before I sent it), I could not get ebay to remove said feedback either which since ebay changed their feedback system although I have like 150+ feedback I was down to like a 70% because I had not sold much recently. I gave up on bothering to sell it as I was only asking to get like 80 shipped before fees and then my rating tanked so people would likely avoid me. Have had a guy say the item never showed up although I had tracking saying it did in fact get delivered. I guess I am lucky that the bit of stuff I have sold through ebay has been stuff where people don't generally complain about.

    I hateeeeee when people do that shit at a GARAGE SALE. Promote as a garage sale but try and sale pokemon cards at comp prices. If you do that i’m leaving i can just go to an actual store 😂 garage sale need garage sale prices

    Man, i exclusively avoid any yard sales listing games. Too many people looking for games. I only buy games that i want.
    Glad i sell other stuff, i more often leave every yard sale i go to with something

    Wanna know what sucks though?
    When your mom is doing a garage sale and then sells your video games while you're out at college, then you come back and most of your room is gone/sold.
    That mom did the right thing in at least asking her son.

    this weekend was my local community annual yard sale event 150+ sales - i went to ~80-100 of them only spent $40 =/
    called it off. Wife than finds a furniture ad for free and we went to go pickup. That person was moving out of the country and SELLING everything. I asked if they had games? seller replied yes, but he is a collector and wouldn't sell. I offered $500 depending on whatcha got? He welcomed me in. Ended up buying a 6pc sectional, futon, pullout bed, couch + his entire 20yr collection for $1350 THAN my wife found another piece of furniture (she flips furniture/restores for a living) so we go to this storage unit locally. THIS dude ends up being a storage unit buyer and I ask u got games? He says YUP. pulls out a 3 big boxes I ask how much for all as is? He said $250? DEAL. some highlights and why I instantly said yes. I could see pokemon yellow, ps2 tenkaichi 3 cib, ps1/2/3/4 and 4 handhelds. easy 3-5x
    tldr: went to 100 yard sales it was a bust. gave up. went to 2 sales for my wife and asked for games. Spent $1600. PROFIT?

    Remember how you got that GIJoe hovercraft at a thrift and flipped it for good money? Do you ever ask for toys? GIJoe, Transformers and StarWars sell well. I would also for old iphones, ipads and mac computers as they have great resale value and people often have years worth of old tech piling up.

    • @ChaseAfterTheRightPrice
      @ChaseAfterTheRightPrice  Год назад +1

      Not a bad idea. I do sometimes but not often enough. I gotta refine my list to things that are good but still have good value on average. Maybe Star Wars, transformers, and gi Joe?

    • @Cyril29a
      @Cyril29a Год назад

      @@ChaseAfterTheRightPrice GIJoe is crazy hot right now, but seriously, Apple stuff... I easily make $10000 plus a year on apple stuff with only a minimal time investment of 60 hours per year. Since you are already out could be worth asking. For apple stuff I sell locally however as I am patient and local sales go for more money since ebay has tons of competition.
