Gabe with all due respect..you played your best round with these clubs and then you're saying they are best suited to a high handicapper..then on the other hand you are saying your handicap has dropped to a 3 something. I really don't buy into the best suited for bs, you just proved it with this video..if you have a set of sticks that work for you keep them and leave your ego at the door..love your channel and efforts because you keep it real...don't change m8..
I haven't played a RAM set in decades, but my very first set were a hand-me-down RAM blades from my dad back in the 80s. I learned the game on them and used them for years before I was able to purchase my own clubs. The RAM name will always have a place in my heart. I'm glad to see they are still putting out some good equipment.
Well, it just goes to show that you (we) don't need to spend big in order to play a good game. The marketing gurus for the premium clubmakers imply that you can score better just by buying and using their products, but this video shows that it just ain't necessarily so. I have these 2 months and love them. I went for stiff graphite. I have FX77 since last year saw these FXT and went for it, in the same shafts. Played 10 full rounds wear is excellent none. Accuracy 100% I am making greens 180 yards away. So very pleased.

I got the 4-PW, SW Laser set last month because they were so cheap ($190 after I used a discount code) and they’re amazing but I’ve seen really good stuff about the FX77’s and FXT’s so I’m a little bummed that I pulled the trigger on my laser set so fast 🤣 I know what one’s I’m getting next though
How do the clubs compare
@@robsmith6668 I am only now going bag FXT Verses bag FX77 so far 2 rounds with the FXT at 4 over PAR so extremely pleased. The FX77 are out next 2 rounds. Both iron sets have the exact same shafts and grips. 7 iron in calm conditions is going carry 165 yards at sea level . 6 iron has a very good flight. 175 yard carry.
@@MarvinofMars the FXT and the Macspd have similar stats even if they don’t look the same. The Macspd was rated very accurate by MGS. So it’s reassuring to see the FXT is also accurate.
Thank you for doing this review. I’ve been in the market for a DTC club that I could adjust the club length without breaking the bank. I’ve been between Macgregor, Takomo, and PXG. However, I think I’m all but sold on these clubs. Love your videos, keep it up.
Thanks for doing a review of the FXTs and as always , your reviews are both entertaining and informative. I like the use of the irons off the tee and prefer this method. I bought a set of these FXTs and love them for all the reasons you stated.

The point I would like to make is that there is clear benefit from using game improvement irons.
Over the last 2 years I’ve played a variety of irons ranging from T150 to ZX7 to cobra forged tec to Mizuno jpx 923. My conclusion is that if I want my handicap to be as low as possible the game improvement irons are the way to go. My handicap has fluctuated +/- 4 strokes depending on the irons being used.
For reference I played off 7, then went down to 0.3 with game improvement irons, and now back to 3.4 with the T150. So needless to stay that the forged tec X are back in the bag.
The suggestion that these clubs are for 15 to 25 handicappers perpetuates the idea that low handicappers should use equipment that makes it harder to shoot lower scores. And I’ve been there with the workability capability of the so called players sticks. I’m no longer in that camp and based on your results you might want to reconsider your position.

Great 9 holes Gabe and the Ram set seem very impressive. I'm torn between these, the takomo and the maltby for my good lady and myself. We're both high handicapppers and leaning towards the ram as its easier shipping from the UK and though the takomo irons look great they just would be a bit too unforgiving for our level of golf😅

always love the videos but I am always curious how an actual high handicapper would hit. You are a good golfer so you can make good shots and adjust your game for shafts etc. I am the same age as you and a 20hcp. (only been playing 1 year) next time I am in Tampa we will try some of these out and see how a guy who sucks likes them.

I played my best golf with a set of no-name clubs years ago. Darn near scratch golf. Now I play with a very expensive set of big name irons. They are beautiful. I'm a 12 handicap. I wish that I had those old game improvement irons back in the bag!
Have you tried the ram hybrid iron set? I just bought a set coming off multiple surgeries in both shoulders and tendon repair in the whole shoulder bicep area. Absolutely amazing and even after surgery I’m able to enjoy golf again and keep performance where I was pre surgery
What you call "rough" looks like the ball is literally teed up. In the Midwest if you get in the rough it takes your foursome 7 minutes to locate the damn thing !!

My golf spy included them in a comparison test. Scored "Best Value"
What other club would you compare the axial to?

I have the 921 hot metals. Overall a good club with soft feel. The only problem I have is the way it sits behind the ball. Something seems off but not sure what it is.
Have you tested tour edge bazooka 470 set. I interested in that set and you have peaked my interest in the ram fxt irons. Would like to get your take on the tour edge bazooka 470 golf set

What clubs do you recommend for beginner to 25 hcp if not these nor the Takomo 101?
If you haven't bought anything yet, the Tommy Armour 845 Max clubs he reviewed a while ago are on sale at Golf Galaxy for $250 or something. They are solid clubs. I changed to them from a used set of no name irons last month.
These might be something I would recommend to my dad. He struggles getting the ball up now and has tried other irons. This may not even be on his radar.

How do you think these clubs compare to the Calloway Edge irons? Do you think they are more forgiving? I just got into golf a few months ago and have a 30 handicap.
These are about as forgiving as clubs get, but not sure it’s enough of an upgrade to justify switching IMO

Dude if you are 30 handicap these are really all you need at this point. I started my golfing career years ago with a $50 set of Ram Tour grinds. I had no idea about clubs and those were some of the hardest to hit well clubs anyone ever made. Took me a few years of hacking with those to get any better. Irons have come a long way since then. Don't need to spend the extra dollars for big brand names as you are just paying for advertising and Tour players contracts. The clubs are not any better. Save your dollars and use it on lessons and balls. You will get better faster for it .

FX77 better for mid handicappers, these are more geared to higher handicaps IMO.
