She's incredible. Her voice, and she as an artist. I'm very proud cause she's my muse. I started singing about her, dancing and singing with her songs. She's amazing. I still remember, in one of her shows in Argentina, she send me a kiss on stage, just to shout how much I love her. Thanks Cyndi for all your music and your unusual personality! 👏👏👏
I was thinking she reminds me of Patti Labelle at times and then sure enough she's singing with her in the latter part of the video. Just in the sheer power and range of her voice, but it's truly a unique instrument. After watching this I'm for sure convinced that Gwen Stefani in her early days with No Doubt borrowed plenty of ideas from Ms. Lauper, both in vocals and on-stage spunk.
I agree with everything you said. and yes, I too noticed the obvious influence on Gwen's earlier work with No Doubt, when she went for more upper belts, and with that signature crazy lightning-speed vibrato to boot. After diving so deeply into Cyndi's discography and watching so many of her live performances, it's definitely obvious now that Gwen was very much inspired by her.
Great video, thank you! Perfect compilation of her best vocal highlights :D I have another one to add, from a Crossroads in Madrid - must upload it to my account here soon ;)
That would be awesome. I think he'd enjoy it because he already respects Cyndi as a vocalist, and he actually was asking about what specific notes she was hitting in some of the clips used in the "Underrated Queen" video that he reacted to.
@@popland1977 Thanks so much. Your compilation is brilliant and definitely inspired me to look further into CL's discography and performance history upon realizing what a phenomenal vocalist she is. You enlightened so many people with that video, myself included.
@@xtinafan06 Well I'm glad I could inspire a few more people to look her up. She's very underrated. I recently changed the name of the video to Cyndi Lauper Best Live Vocals if you're looking for it. Unfortunately another channel a few months ago copied it and uploaded it pretending it was theres. Have you watched Lauper's performance of Time after Time with Patti Labelle?
The song is "Prisoner of Love," but unfortunately there's no HQ audio of the song that doesn't have dialogue from the film scattered throughout. At least not that I can find. But this is where I got it. ruclips.net/video/ZYcqBgiHwYE/видео.html
That is from Crossroads, the final of the song - originally included in the Memphis Blues album - guess here she was in Paris, at the Olympia (I was there :)

Patti Labelle is actually the Godmother to Cyndi Lauper's only child and sang at her wedding
