- The 25 amp NAPSAC (Numerical Adjustable Power Supply and Charger) was designed to charge LiFePO4 batteries as well as cells at the conventional 14.4V and 3.65V respectively. The manufacturer of the buck converter used in NAPSAC recommends the use of a diode to protect the converter. Schottky diodes voltage loss around 0.5V is too high for cell charging; also power loss about 12.5W is high for high current charging. Ideal diodes with low losses are ideal for backflow protection. However, most high current ideal diodes do not function down to the 3.65V range. In this video, a 15A ideal diode module was modified to having a 25A current capacity to protect the buck converter up to its rate current capacity.
