RMF, What awesome combine! I'm so glad your granddad was ok after such a tragic accident. So good to see how he is still active in your operation at his youthful age. God bless you all. Boe ✝👍
God bless grandpa! He reminds me of my grandpa. He was always a very active man. He did a lot of different jobs throughout his life. With the exception of teaching school he was always self employed. Being one of the generation that lived through the great depression he always had an extra urgency to be ready to get by no matter what. He always heated with wood, so did my uncle and my dad. Seems like we were always cutting firewood. Grandpa loved cutting wood. He passed away in 1980 with cancer, but two weeks before he passed, he insisted on going to dad's property and cut wood with us. I see that same drive in your grandpa. That spirit is going to keep him going for a long time! He is definitely an inspiration!
How great is it that you guys have such a wonderful groomed and well kept field with no rocks so you can pick up all the grain so low! That’s what I love about Southeast Idaho farms, all the farmers truly take care of how great it the fields look
My grandpa said our fields used to be pretty rocky when he started but we’ve been farming them for about 70 years and we’ve hauled all the rocks out with the potatoes over the years
@@RockyMountainFarmer growing up in Rexburg I did the same, my grandfather had a dry farm in the Teton basin, and I worked for a couple of my neighbors up on the Rexburg bench, and we would walk the fields, pulling milk, thistle, and clearing rocks. You guys have a great looking farm.
@RockyMountainFarmer I'm looking forward to potato harvest, too. The machinery is so different from that used in harvesting wheat, corn, beans, etc. Very interesting! Let's hope you don't lose any to spoilage this year.
Glad your grandpa bounced back from his fall. Interesting how you commented on the tech in the new combine, but he commented on how he thought it was built to last. Perspectives.
A week in and great to see the harvest progressing so well with the new combine, albeit with a couple of challenges on the way. So many generations in one video, sounds like grandpop is made of stout farming stock... Hope that second storm passed without too many issues...
I'm grateful your grandfather was ok. We had a farmer in cache valley a couple of years ago that they found dead from an accident in his field a day later. Those Trinity quad axle belt trailers weigh about 54000 lb. Probably 73 to 75000 lbs of grain with gross weight around 112000 lbs.
I saw the new even flow looks nice. We were there just before the shear bolt went we drove to the semis and you were down by the highway. The rain started and my family was hungry so we headed north. Went south Saturday in the wind, my old 95 Chevy 350 had a struggle pulling my trailer home. Went through Poky just after the fire started. Looked bad from the freeway.
One of the best things we did was upgrade our cart from 850 bushels to 1,250 That way we only head towards the trucks when we have enough to fill a truck completely. Plus the automatic scale is handy for filling.
Looks like you had some good luck with the rain. Hope you can get finished without any other issues. Your new Spudnik looks amazing. For potatoes, right?
He moved up here when he was nine and my great grandpa died when he was 12 so my grandpa took the farm over when he was 12 years old. He has been farming ever since.
Are the trucks contracted or part of your farm? Seems like they are the weak point that can delay harvest. Kinda wondering where the truck drivers were to tarp their own trucks.
nice to see an old timer witnessing new tec . it made me smile
Glad you enjoyed it!
Reminds me a lot of my grandfather. Always checking if things are done right.

Great to see how agriculture technology is evolving. The video was informative and engaging.
Great that your grandpa is active.
It sure is

He is definitely a good example of hard, work and dedication. I’ve been blessed to have him in my life so long.
Great awesome video, love your grandpa makes me think of my late grandfather i was close to him , sad to me but makes me happy
Glad you enjoyed it. He is a great man

I see a lot of grain and corn harvesting , but now I'm looking forward to see the tator harvesting.
Yeah it’s going to be pretty awesome. We have all new cellar equipment this year.

Yeah, we all look at how high-tech it is and he just wants to know if it’s gonna last a long time but I think both things are true
This is kind of what we have in the Tennessee valley, you read the weather by the mountains and the wind just like they did it back in the day
Yeah, most of the time when they predict rain it goes around us because of the mountains

That storm passed us but then we got hit again. I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video. Hopefully that cellar smells better . 🤣😂. Very interesting all that goes on . Thanks for sharing . 👍👍👍👍👍
It still has a smell but it’s going away. I’m glad you’re enjoying videos.

Yeah, we’re glad he’s OK too Farming can be very dangerous if you’re not careful
I like the current logo. Great Video!
👌🏻👍🏻💟
@@maineman11 this is mainly just a contest we may put it on a shirt or something. I’m glad you enjoyed the video
I don’t believe in luck, I’m blessed 😊
Oh good

Yeah, the new bin is really nice and all that rain was pretty crazy
that lightning was crazy!
Yes it was
I wish we could get some of that rain here in Texas. 105 degrees here today. 🥵🥵🥵
105° does sound miserable

Confucius say "Man who races rain is all wet".
That’s not too far off

That would be really nice to know you could load an entire truck.
The size of operations at your farm is mind blowing
It is pretty big and there’s usually a lot going on. It makes for nonstop content for all of you Wonderful viewers.
Your Grandpa has that farmers mentality of you have to know what he has built is being taken care of.
Yeah he’s always checking on everything
Looks like you had some good luck with the rain. Hope you can get finished without any other issues. Your new Spudnik looks amazing. For potatoes, right?
Yes, the new equipment is for potatoes. We will be using it in about a month.
How much weight can those 4 axle trailers hold? Looks like harvest is going fairly smoothly. 😊
Probably about 75,000 pounds
Has your grandfather been farming his whole life? New equipment has got to seem like the easiest way to farm for him!
He moved up here when he was nine and my great grandpa died when he was 12 so my grandpa took the farm over when he was 12 years old. He has been farming ever since.
Looks like you guys got hit by the same storm that blasted us in utah - 50 mph gusts while pouring
Yeah we got lucky to not have hail damage
Are the trucks contracted or part of your farm? Seems like they are the weak point that can delay harvest. Kinda wondering where the truck drivers were to tarp their own trucks.
We hire the semi trucks and they bring more trucks than drivers and the drivers rotate through the trucks
Any value to hosing down the rot cellar with fungicide/peroxide/magma so it doesn't inoculate new crop?
Yeah, we are going to sanitize the cellar before we put potatoes in
You are friendly
I try to be
@@RockyMountainFarmer how old are you start driver Havester?
I’m 35 but I started driving equipment when I was 11
@@RockyMountainFarmer yes, 24 years... A long time. Thanks for your answer
