- Quiet Dusk Coming Early (a.k.a. To Be Forgotten) is from Stage 2 of Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker. I played @FikretX's piano arrangement of it:
• The Caretaker - Everyw...
In my interpretation, I've tried to preserve the melancholic air of his work with contrasts in tempo and phrasing. At 2:21 I had some fun with creative hand crossing. This was also my first video on Pianoteq 8!
Edit - a fun fact: the day after I recorded this piece, my left pinky started to hurt intensely whenever I lowered it below the joint. I don't know if this was due to the large broken chords in the left hand, or the amount of handwriting I did that day (preparing for a test; I write with my left hand); either way, it plagued me for almost a week!

Fantastic job on this! You've been doing this for months, and I had no idea! I'm so glad you enjoy my arrangements enough to play them so well (it's also relieving to know that a human can indeed play these pieces haha)
Also, very interesting that this is the first song you've chosen to cover. Two things about that:
1. I've since updated some of the notes, let me know what you think
2. There might be something related to this song coming down the pipe soon...
@@FikretX So happy you found this, and that you like what I'm doing with your arrangements! I'm covering them in unconventional order, I suppose - I prioritize my personal enjoyment of a track in question over what's popular, which likely isn't the smartest move algorithm-wise. However, I'm carried by Libet's Delay being an absolute goldmine for viewer traffic, haha. I really like this tune in particular and am excited to see what's coming down the pipe! Your style works perfectly for these tracks in my opinion, so of course I enjoy your arrangements. Did you write them away from a piano?
@@FikretX Also, I did see the updated notes - as a rule I tend to go with the notes in your initial medley videos / midi files because I've gotten wayyy too used to how the original arrangements sound. I like how you extended the accompany phrase in the intro and the harmony change before the re-entrance of the chorus was spicy. The first change makes the arrangement more reminiscent of grofinet's in his video called "Songs The Caretaker Taught Me" - his arrangement helped me discover my lover for the tune. Both changes serve to make it more melancholy, and are probably improvements (your original is stuck in my head though)
@@boredPianoAdv I totally understand your desire to cover the songs in the order that you feel - that's fun and keeps me guessing about your taste! Also the "stuck in your head" aspect of the first versions makes sense haha.
As for my writing process: I'm self-taught in piano, and most of that on a theoretical/compositional level (fiddling with software like GarageBand is most of what I do). I'm not technically skilled enough to actually play my own pieces, mostly because I don't own a full-length piano (if I did, I'd have more of an opportunity to practice). I do have a 2-octave MIDI keyboard that helps me sometimes, and I try my best to create note combinations that I believe will be playable, but occasionally something will slip through the cracks (that last arpeggio at 2:20 where you right hand crosses over comes to mind). It really helps to have a competent player attempt the pieces, almost like "beta-testing" them. So thank you for that as well!
Glad I can be of service! Your background is fascinating because it's pretty much the opposite of what I grew up doing; it's cool that we can learn from each other. If you'd like, I can point out to you any non-pianistic spots in your sheets as I continue to work through them. I hope you can get a serviceable full-length piano soon!
By the way, do you have any extra image/art assets that are The Caretaker-themed? I'm trying not to make my thumbnails too repetitive but with one video per track I'm running low on options
This music is in fact quite musical I must say.
This is one of the most underrated song from the album, and one of the best
Agreed!
use me as an i cried button
no shot this song goes so hard 💀
How have I gone so long without seeing this, this is great!
Thanks! Glad it found you
Me too!
This sounds so smooth and relaxing. I love it
Thanks, it's one my favorite melodies in EATEOT (and all music for that matter)
Ah, this is so very lovely and played with such care. Absolutely wonderful!
Thank you, thank you! It's one of my favorite tunes of all time
It’s really special and you take on such wonderfully challenging renditions! Bravo!
Unlike my previous uploads, I didn't arrange the piece in this video - It was done by Fikret, and his video can be found at ruclips.net/video/_W2sRsOB7vY/видео.html
LETS GO THIS BANGER IS IN MY RECOMMENDED AGAIN :D
W
It has gained traction ever since its adjacent video took off (ruclips.net/video/O6onixuaG-c/видео.html)
I used to listen to the caretaker a lot and now listening to this in piano form just tickles a part of my brain.
Glad it does! Thanks for listening
Very good! How are you liking pianoteq 8?
Thanks a lot! I think it's quite nice - I haven't tested it extensively, but certainly like the revoicing of the Bechstein. I agree with the UI changes as well
@@boredPianoAdv Yeah...I only use pianoteq. I tried a lot of sampled pianos but pianoteq spoiled me 😜 Are you in Korea by chance??
@Dayle Spenzer San Fransisco, California - why do you think so?
Wow
It sounds so nice like this. Weird, but nice
Normal music :o
Cool!
Thanks!
Up song be like
cool
now play advanced plaque entanglements
lol
Omg!!! So you have the sheet??
I was going to say there should be a link in the description of Fikret's Stage 2 MIDI video but looks like that's down. I'll send you a link to my personal transcription (it's what I'm reading in the video) in the comment right after this one. Let me know if you can't see it within the next five minutes - RUclips likes to eat links in comments

@@boredPianoAdv omg thanks! It's so difficult to find sheet of this kind of music!! Thanks a lot! 😊
@@erickschwartinsky9746 No problem! Do check out Fikret's channel - he has a LOT of sheets for The Caretaker's music, it just happened that this one of his was taken down
