I like to see these old woodies being redone instead of removed and replaced with something modern.
It's great that Gravity Group has a plausible competitor to the steel retrack options WITH WOOD.

My first wooden coaster ever , been riding it for twenty years. When I say it’s never ran this fast I mean it, I’ve fallen in love again. The rides I got the other night on grizzly were absolutely insane. Airtime in every hill now, steeper drop, the laterals my god the laterals on the last turn. Picked up a good ten seconds I’m sure and you feel every bit of it and slams to a stop on the brake run. God thanks to you gravity group it’s never ran so good .
i always appreciated how violent grizzly was so i’m happy some of that is still there 😂
How did you appreciate a ride that feels like it'll give you whiplash?? I sure as hell didn't. It was easily the worst coaster in the park.
@@VeeTHis Before the retrack it was more like being murdered than whiplash, I was honestly shocked to hear most preferred Grizzly over Hurler, and that the latter got the conversion to an RMC (even though I'm glad it has worked out now) instead of it. Definitely better for the park to have finally done something though, I didn't want to ride it anymore 10 years ago and I love traditional wooden roller coasters.
This has always been one of my favorite parks. There is such nostalgia with it for me. So glad the last couple of years Cedar Fair has been investing in it again. Major food upgrades, highly themed area of Jungle X, re-tracking Grizzly, etc. Hopefully it will continue and become a top-tier park once again.
Glad to see Cedar Fair is revitalizing their older classic woodies. Last time I rode Grizzly I was the only one in the station. The ride ops said I could ride again, but I just couldn't. I probably was the only rider within 30 minutes that day. Glad to see its worth riding more than once and full trains. Next they need to tackle Wonderlands coasters.
I305 makes you feel a special kind of way. Absolutely unreal coaster.
Grizzly is a completely different ride. I miss some of the intensity it had, before. However, it's insanely smooth now, and it's going to go over well with most people.

Man Grizzly looks good now. I just watched a POV of the retracked Grizzly too and I gotta say, it really looks like just what you'd expect from a really classic wooden coaster, just sized up, and its great to see it get some TLC. There's basically always room for a ride like Grizzly in a park lineup if its maintained well.
That is so great to hear! I liked Grizzly in 2018, but hated it in 2021, with how rough it had gotten. I'm now excited to get back on it in a few weeks, as well as 2 of the best coasters in the country. I love your home park!
I unwittingly rode this coaster when I visited King's Dominion for the first time in 2021. It was a horrible and painful experience. I'll have to give it another chance now.
I've waited for an hour to ride Grizzly before.....though this was back in the 80s: Great to see they retracked this classic ride!
This one has a special place in my heart! It was the first adult coasterI MADE MYSELF ride as a kid and it was brand new then! BEST thing I ever made myself do! Now I'll ride almost anything! 💯😁

This looks amazing! 2020 was the first year in 30 years that I hadn't ridden a roller coaster because of the pandemic. My first ride in 2021 was Grizzly (which I remembered loving over 20 years ago as a night ride), and I almost cried hearing the chain lift go up the hill.
Just rode it , things a gnarly beast just like it was when I was a kid in the 80’s.
I rode this a couple of days ago with my son. We did it back to back multiple times. I did not even have to get out of my seat!
This really seemed like such a quiet,relaxing and cozy day at Kings Dominion. Nice weather, some good ole variety of coasters, no rushes to go anywhere, great food. You can’t ask for more
really hoping to get out to kings dominion this summer im Virginia native but have always gone to bush gardens never been to Kings dominion but since im now a enthusiast im trying my best to make it there hopefully

The trim has always been the same, when it's running faster the trim hite harder
Lol fun fact I was one of the ride supervisor for I305 I think the year 2012 or 2013 we started saying LADIES with the “gentlemen start your engines” before dispatch….I was hype that it still continues til this day…. 😆😁
Rode Grizzly twice. The tunnel is very fun. My friend got stapled first ride so we went around again so she could experience the airtime..
Saw y’all filming from the exit of Grizzly while I was in line. The retracked version is so good!
I was at KD this weekend and rode retracked Grizzly. It’s so much better now, that drop gives some legit airtime and so do the smaller bunny hills. I wish they retracked the whole ride though, the last third is still terrible.

my school's chorus and band classes are lucky. they get a field trip here every year, and my school isn't even close by, it's in maryland about an hour and a half away

Been looking forward to this review. Grizzly was my first “real” roller coaster back in the mid 80s and we’ll be taking a family vacation and up to VA next month and my 7 & 8 yr olds will be riding Grizzly as their first “real” coaster. #nostalgia 👍
Funny thing with Chick-fil-A being in theme parks is that on one of the busiest days each week they're closed completely. Lol.
remember riding it the first year loved it then, have not been back to the park tho since.
They really need to bring back the Grizzle plaza of sorts that used to be to the side of the gift shop with the bear statue and all

What's up Taylor and Sarah? I first rode Grizzley and Rebel Yell back in 1989, and BOTH of them had buzz-bar restraints! Night rides on Grizzly were spectacular then. I last rode both in 1996, and both had the newer, more restrictive restraints... I think the park switched in 1992-93. I am certain that my memories are better than the rides themselves, but Grizzly and Rebel Yell were early favorites of mine.

Since Hershey is my home park, I was alway wanting them to give the Titan Track treatment to Wildcat and RMC Lightning Racer so we could have an East Coast counterpart to Twisted Colossus, but now that we have Wildcat's Revenge, maybe Hershey could have Gravity Group retrack the rougher spots on Lightning Racer and flip flop my idea around . That way Hershey's lineup will strengthen even more and will be pretty unbeatable IMO since we just got a (most likely) phenomenal RMC.
If that were to happen, I genuinely have no clue what they could add next. Maybe another good family ride ??

8:34 Firehouse Subs wants their theme back
My first ride on it was horrible. I remember at the end of it I yelled holy Crap that hurt and a local was behind me, he’s laughed and said. It’s one you have to learn the spots to brace yourself. Glad to hear it’s smoother.
It's awesome to hear that it's now even better! This gives me good Hooe for the work that's being done on Megafobia! Though, I just hope they keep their Timberliner trains away....
All this does is make my need to plan a trip back home to VA even stronger.
Rode this last Friday and the new track is so good it makes the old bits laughably bad. If they did the whole thing it would be much better
I was in line for this back in 2018, but got out of line before I got to ride it, so this year will be the first I ride of it. Can’t wait to see how good it is.
I rode Grizzly for the first time ever just this past Sunday! Was a very short visit for me - arrived at 11, had to leave by 2 to get back to DC for a meeting, and needed a few other first-time credits - so I didn't get multiple rides this weekend, but I'm definitely gonna get a few more rides in next time I visit KD, likely next month! Not my favorite ride in the park, but I did get a T-shirt in the hopes that is says "I love the update, please finish the last third!" X-D Gonna have to get a night ride at some point too.

I've been a long time fan of the channel and I've almost met you so many times 😭 I definitely saw you both recording footage of grizzly when I rode it (I'm on the train at 5:29) but didn't recognize Taylor or Sarah! Super funny I walked right past Sarah on our way into the park and I was like was that who I thought it was ... nah. Then I see this video and it was totally her. We came for grizzly as well. It is much improved but could also use about 30% more love and it would be perfect.

Really glad KD revamped grizzly. Now they just need to replace anaconda with something, ANYTHING, and this will be a top tier park.
Looks like we might’ve been there on the same day! I was very impressed with the retracking, and I got to hop in Twisted Timbers for the first time which was… very uh… airtimey?
I was there last week and to say I had a miserable experience would be an understatement - what should've been a 15 minute wait (if that) took 1.5 hours thanks to a furious cocktail of slow ride ops, one train, and the people in front of us being too busy making out to get on the ride lol

i just went through some rough surgery and i can no longer eat 90% of the food that i once loved… you just keep showing me the food an i want it. i also can’t ride roller coasters for like 6 months to a year
I think canadas wonderland is doing this to Wilde Beast - which is a mirrored clone of this one.
Oddly, I'm more likely to grey out on the first upward helix of Backlot Stunt Coaster (happened both time I've ridden it) than I am on I-305 (only partially happened once out of three rides)
I noticed the lack of i305 merch and an employee clued us in, ever since Dale Earnhardt passed away his wife has owned his liscensing and she has been making it very expensive to franchise his name or references to him. We could see him get taken off of the Cedar Fair rides in the future, who knows??

I had the "pleasure" of riding Grizzly last summer and after one ride, I determined on the spot that it was easily the worst ride I had ever been on. It was one of the roughest most unpleasant experiences I've ever had and I've ridden Son Of Beast. Sounds like I rode it one year too soon. I honestly thought the ride was trying to kill me.
That drop looks way different than I thought.

i liked grizzly but last time i rode it i got a spec of something behind my eyelid and it hurt to blink. Im excited now
ive rode it like 7 times now, retracked parts, glass smooth. Non retracked parts? The closest thing i could describe it as was riding a jack hammer. im down for the rest of it to be retracked

The grizzly was so nice during the first half of the ride but the second half of it was brutal. Someone is going to get hurt on it
this begs the question, does grizzly have airtime that Wild beast doesn't? I heard you talking about airtime so I wanna know how you are riding it (this isn't sarcasm, If there is a trick id love to know)

It’s kind of sad that Gen Z wants everything smooth. The rough riding woodies make it scarier and more exciting IMO. Haven’t been on this in a while but the drop in the tunnel best part 😊
It's not that we "want everything smooth". There's many rough woodies that I enjoy riding, but Grizzly was NEXT LEVEL rough. I rid it in 2019 and it literally felt like I was going to get whiplash from the immense roughness and jackhammering.
Also, not liking Grizzly's roughness isn't a Gen Z exclusive opinion lol
There’s having a bite, rough, and straight up painful. Take a guess what Grizzly was in order for it to be retracked. And this is on my dad’s experience, not mine’s. I know plenty of people of all ages that said it felt like a car crash. That’s not enjoyable.

Wasn’t PTC developing newer trains that were similar to GCI trains? If so I wish parks would upgrade the old PTC trains to the new ones! Especially the racer and beast, grizzly all these rides who are getting amazing retracks would be even better with newer trains
PTC has the PTCI 360 which is a single row car which is supposed to articulate to any wood coaster. However, I don't think they've done anything to the ratcheting lap bar so I don't think it's ready to take passengers through inversions. I think it's biggest drawback is that while it may corner better its basicly making every seat a wheel seat! I'm sure Gravity Group would love to sell them some Timberliner trains too!
They should have RMC this one in the first place.

@@billsskiefc At the end of the day dumb ass both where extremely bad coasters as they coexisted with each other. Grizzly was bar far the worst of the two and much older so in my opinion grizzly would have been the better option to RMC at the time.
