For the Artisan grinding issue, get yourself some KPL Original & KPL Heavy bro, (lubricants), put 3-4 drops of Original on each of the bearings, the get your KPL Heavy & put 2-3 drops on your dentent ball, then flip, flip & flip some more, that should sort it you may have to repeat the process a few times to fully make it smooth, & if you do that & it still stays rough, then break out your torx T6 or T8 bits whichever it takes & go around the knife ensuring that all the scale screws a nice & secure (not over tight, but firm) then repeat the oiling & flipping process (bearings & detent ball/oil) & that should sort it, failing all that, ring them up send it back & get a new one because if that doesn't work Chris, then there's been a major milling mistake at the factory OR there's been a drastic assembly oversight resulting in poor fit n finish & subsequent performance, either way Artisian should replace it for you (not saying they will). Anyway, thanks mate.
Thank you! I've been messing with it, and it's really, really bad. I'm going to do exactly what you said, and i pray it works. I love the knife and really want it to be smooth. Thanks for the heads up and great tip!!!
Love your channel and appreciate your content. Noticed a couple videos ago you held up the Lionsteel T5, absolutely one of my favs of all time. Keep it coming!!
Thank you greatly for that!! I'm humbled! You have excellent taste because the lionsteel m5 is one of my favorite knives also! I love it!!! I'm glad you enjoy my content!! Thank you!!
I was able to get a Montana Knife Company Wargoat ordered last night. I love fixed blades. My daily is a T.Kell Nightstalker. My backup is a GiantMouse GMF1-XL. I cannot wait for the Wargoat to get in.
Took my brother to River’s Edge Cutlery during Black Friday to get his first non-budget knife (he’s a little newer to the knife game than I am). He walked out with the Manix 2 XL. You’re absolutely right: it’s a beast of a knife!
Just found your channel awesome content. Been a small time knive collector for many years. Things sure have changed over the years. Keep up the great work. 👽
Thank you so much for the great and kind words! Yes, it's changed so much. Only once you start walking down that rabbit trail do you realize how far it goes.
28:15 this is the ball bearing lock and, it's very functionally different than a axis or cross bar lock. It needs a ceramic or zirconia bearing and it will smooth the knife out even further... The ball bearing lock once broken in with a sic or zirc bearing will literally make for one of the smoothest washer action you have ever felt and with absolute vault tight lock up and zero blade play. The sic bearing upgrade is very well worth the 10 bucks or so. Someone sells them in bladebinge for like 7 shipped and that's the cheapest you will find.
Thank you!!! If you watch any of my videos or read some of my comments, then you will see my views on esee. Esee, to me, is the greatest knife brand there is when talking about the outdoors or wood processing! It can do anything that any other high cost knife can do, even if it may not do it quite as well. The thing that sets it above the others????? No questions asked warranty!!!
Hey Chris! Sorry i had my hands full this weekend... Wanted to let you know that I recieved the goodies grom the live stream giveaway, and wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRIS! Good man! They said expect delivery Saturday, it finally arrived yesterday (tuesday) they held it histage for 2 days in St. Louis at the sorting facility! 😮 I also got the Kizer Cormorant I ordered from SMKW on monday! O javent gone anywhere and ill be tuning in regularly again, just was busier than a 1 armed paper hanger! Gratitude man, all on this side of the table! ❤(No homo)😊
That's awesome!!! I unboxed a cormorant this evening! I'm glad you got yours!!! Plus, I'm glad you got the package i sent. Sorry they did that in St Louis! Dang mail! It's me that thanks you and everyone else, though. You all have supported me and my channel, and have been so kind! Thank you!! Enjoy those, and have a Merry Christmas!!
Kizer has them for sale on their website right now for $54.50. You can also get 10% off your first order if you sign up for their email list. I just ordered one for $49.05 shipped. Just wanted to pass on the savings for others watching this video.
My favorite knives these days are Kizer knives. Great quality with affordable prices. My current fav knife is mini militaw. I just got a mini militaw in budget version which was only $45. That is a great deal!
32:21 - Fuller, named after the tool that makes it. It doesnt really historically have anything to do with blood either, its just a way to save a little bit of weight without compromising the structural integrity of the blade. Which is why you often see them in larger/heavier blades, its not enough to make it light but it is enough to stop it from being tip heavy alot of the time.
Just wanted to brag that I also got a package today containing the Boker Plus Poke. A little heavier than I expected but I like that! And quite slicy !
I really wish I could get into the Manix 2….i have one and just never carry it. I honestly think it’s kind of ugly and I just can’t get comfortable with the lock mechanism. I can say that my favorite knives in my collection are Spyderco’s though. I just preordered the Cru-Carta Native 5…which is my vote for the best EDC. Well a toss up between that and a Sage 1. Thanks for the video bud!
@ I appreciate the idea, but I’ve tried that as well. It’s still just blah to me. I don’t know, I just think that “crossbar” lock knives are just ugly. I guess at my age and the time spent collecting I’m just stuck with liner locks or lock backs 🤷🏼♂️
@@jakefromohiostate I hear that. I live in Washington State so I can't have fun with spring assist or autos- but I sure love a solid button lock, and Protech really is the one to beat. Maybe throw it up on blade binge?
@@jctsea I got it from Binge hahaha I’ll honestly just pass it down to my son. He loves Spyderco. A GOOD button lock is hard to find! Most of the manual ones just basically barf the blade out at a slow motion. It’s annoying. I heard someone describe it as pull a spoon out of thick mashed potatoes…although I laughed really hard,,,it’s very accurate! I did several videos about my disdain towards buttonlocks. I’ve found a few since then that are pretty snappy though
Great thread! Native 5 in Cru-carta and Sage1!? Dang, I'm envious.lol. the Native 5 is a great knife! Well, both are, but the Native is my choice between the 2. I totally get the feelings toward the Manix 2. Sometimes, a knife just doesn't do it for you, even if you can't really pin down why. I love the XL, but t hate that locking system! Hate it! Would prefer a compression lock all day long.
Thank you, lol! I wanted to fillm early today because they were gone, and they still had a way of interrupting my video!!! Lol. Kidding. I'm checking the knife out now! Let's see what we can do!
That's so great! I'm glad you liked the knife! Honestly, I get a lot of knives ives with the premium steels because people like those, but in everyday use, most people don't know the difference.
2:30 - I worked for a company that was bought out by Fedex. At first we were excited about getting access to their transit network and resources, but every time we thought things couldnt get worse it did. Unfortunately the way the world works, you dont really get to choose your transporter up front, you just get whatever company the store has a contract with and maybe get to choose a "express" product but thats it. Unless you spesifically ask for it ex works and arrange your own of course, but not everyone has experience in spedition and logistics. There used to be a running joke that the driver would show up within the general vicinity of the delivery address and whistle. If noone answered, it would be updated "customer not home".
Oh my gaaaawwwwwddddd! This is perfect!!! I needed to read this! Until yesterday, it was only fedex that I had issues with. Fedex is so bad that I have literally posted stuff all over my place, like a beacon, and even posted stuff on a few sign posts around here. I've talked to every FedEx driver I have seen in this area. Still, every time it's fedex, they put it on someone else's porch! I literally saw a package sat on a porch, directly under a massive wood carved name and address plate that the homeowners had made. It was like the driver did it on purpose and was saying, "Yeah, I know!" Yesterday was UPS, and it was someplace that obviously wasn't the right home. In the email where it said delivered, it had "other" specified!!! What!!! I try never to get upset or worked up because that changes nothing except my mood and disposition. still, it's extremely aggravating.
I love MKM knives. They still have knives Guilds in Italy. That magnetic sheath is so cool. I have thaught about buying just the sheath. I think they are 40 bucks. But alittle smaller I think. I like everything about the Kizer but the controller scales. I was never much into video games. Sweet knife other than that. I could see the appeal to most people. Ha! That manix xl has you written all over it. The reg. Size manix is such a strong contender for the next nice knifeI get. I just love the look of that thing! I like the shamen alot also but 300 bucks is just too steep for me. Certain times of year I can pull a 150 200 dollar one. That thing is contending for first place. Dang that XL is a beast! The para 2 is up there on my list also. I like that camo g10 one. I like that the window breaker has the lanyard hole in it. That thing is a dagum pocket cleaver! Give the pivit screw like an 8th or 16th turn to the left and see if that fixes it. Usually does the trick for me. Should make the action better. But check the centering of the blade. It can make it hang towards the show side if you go too far. Great haul man great video. You are a bit early tonight. Have a good one and stay sharp man.
Thank you!!!! Finally, I have been trying to think of the term guilds to describe Italian knife makers and just couldn't think of it. Lol. I have been racking my brain for a week over that. Seriously! Lol. So thank you!! They do sell those sheaths as stand-alone purchases, and they are definitely worth considering. I'll tell you something I just noticed, though, so consider this, when I pocketed the sheath and tried to pull the knife, it would not come out without pulling the entire sheath with it. Magnet just isn't strong enough. As long as you don't mind pulling the sheath to remove the knife, though, then it's fantastic. I love the Shaman a lot, but it just got pushed aside. Big time! I'm going to order a regular size manix to try it out as well and show it. The XL, well, you are correct. It has me written all over it! From what I can tell, if you are gonna.co sider the manix and the PM2, consider the.manix strongle. For edc, I think it's blade shape, and design fits the role far better. Either is great, though. The coma g10, get out here!! Sweet!!! Way batter than plain black. Oh, and you're right about the gamer scales. My boy loved it, and that's the only reason I went with that version. I wanted the blue and white one bad!
28:02 - Yeah I can see why, I dont think the lock is the best part about the Manix either. Its not a bar/axis lock though, theres a small ball bearing housed in a cage inside it that when under tension is pushed into a socket on the tang. Flytanium has some really nice upgraded ball cages for it that completely changed the action on it for me, but thats a 70 buck upgrade and not something I would feel is worth it if I didnt use this knife all the time.
Thank you for that! I was stumped about it, big time. I love the knife, and the action is already breaking in, but still leaves a lot of room for improvement. I was looking at flytanium earlier for some hardware and scales and now I need to look into that. Thank you, big time!!!
I know. I'm not trying to price them off of my channel. The majority.of.knives that I show are budget friendly and far lower.prices, but some people.do also like seeing the next level knives.
