Silver Cymbal would you use this exact generator to be back up power for 2000 sqft house. I’d like to power an electric furnace, well pump, and electric hot water heater.
Any reason that you didn’t show how to wash out the foam air pre-filter when you changed the air filter? It is easy to do. Just wash it out by hand in warm soapy water, dry it out with a paper towel and then put about a teaspoon of clean motor oil on it and squeeze it out evenly in the foam. Place it back in the housing and your done. The reason for the plastic grid that is on the paper filter is to keep the oil that is in the foam filter from touching the paper in the main filter. Hope this helps. Overall your video is great. Easy to understand and follow.
Good Morning, my generator is only 3 years old. hardly used. My son came and changed the oil, spark plug and it still will only start with the pull start. the push start is just making a clicking noise. My son said I may need a new battery. What do you think? Thankyou
Thank you, buddy. I bought Honda EU7000iS and new, residing in Power House, specially made to accommodate this auxiliary PSU. Thanks for the practical demo on oil change, spark plug change and Air Filter change. You spoke very well to make any one understand basic Honda Generator maintenance.
THANKS so much. So helpful. I feel totally ready to go in terms of servicing my own. They are amazing generators. Handles my entire house! Again...appreciate it.
thanks for the walkthrough! I’ve never used a generator before and honestly after seeing this I’m confident I dont have to pay a dealer for regular maintenance 😊
Thank you silver cymbal great walk thru ,I did really take all useful tool checks The metric was great because in Australia we are metric mostly ,some old school imperial tools and spanners .Very good well in informed silver cymbal. 👌
Likely the reason for the non 1.1 quart fill is that number is referring to a dry fill which is typically the very first fill. Since there's always oil left in the oil pan on a refill, that likely compensated for the .1 that was unnecessary. All excellent tips and thanks much for this video.
I bought Honda 08207-10W30 Motor Oil to put in my new generator and watched this video before putting oil in. I saw he was using a different oil, so I called Honda and they said I have the right oil and what is being used in this video is "for motorcycles". I'm not really sure how much of a concern that is, or if the guy experienced any issues over the years, but people do not want to use motorcycle oil in their generators.
I have a EU 6500 is... I change the oil and I also run it every 3 months and put a load on it... never had 1 problem yet in 11 years, the battery has been dead for years but I`m told to leave it in, I don`t replace it because it starts on the first pull... awesome generator also I was told the 6500 and the 7000 are the same thing, not sure if this is true, wondering if you had ever heard anything about that... thanks nice video
Another great "how to" on the EU7000i. They are an excellent generator but are pricey. I got mine at Power Equipment Direct with free lift gate service. They also offered an incentive where if you pay with an immediate draft from your account you would get an additional 5% discount. As you mentioned, these things are heavy and if you live out in the country free delivery usually means curbside and it's in a crate. Just something to consider if your house is a bit off the road.
Thank you. Believe it or not Honda doesn't use them on any of the generators except for a couple of smaller commercial models. I would like one myself but they last so long I guess their engineers feel they don't need them.
Silver Cymbal ...I’ve found one in the classifieds for $600. That is if it isn’t a scam. I’m waiting to hear back. This generator is amazing. I hope I can get it! Thanks so much for replying and for the great video. I hope you’re well.
Thank you so much. That's a good idea, I wish Honda made a better way to do it. It's kind of a pain. I never trickle it but just try to run it at least every 4 months for 1 hour and that keeps it in perfect shape. Might be easier otherwise you have to take the door off, wedge clips in there and it's not very elegant.
Buy a “Battery Tender 800” it comes with a connector lead that you hook to the battery and let the end hang out the bottom of the generator. The Battery Tender won’t over charge the battery and will extend it’s life. I have a Battery Tender 800 on my mower and motorcycle.
I agree 100%. If the oil is black you have waited to long. Oil is cheap, an engine rebuild is not. This generator has an hour meter for keeping track of your service needs.
Do you think you can push this unit up ramps into a bed of a pickup alone? I just cant find any videos anywhere, and am contemplating buying one but worried I wont be able to load it in and out of my pick up bed.
Great Video, do you think you do something on replacing the pull cord on this same generator; Honda EU7000ie? When I purchased mine as pre-owned i didn't notice that it was gone until i went to use the Gennie and the battery was dead, my friend that has one just like mine, said "no sweat just use the pull cord". I didn't know that it had this feature, my friend then saw that there wasnt a pull cord; the cord had probably broken and is inside. How is this fixed.
I find that the oil plug needs more tightening than you think is necessary. After replacing the oil and reinstalling the oil plug for the first time, I run the gen for a few minutes and go back and tighten the plug again. If I don't, it'll leak.
@@SilverCymbal I have a Yamaha ef3000ISEB Generator would mine also charge the battery if I run it?And how would it charge the battery with no alternator?
@@STOCKBOY-fu5sd Yes it definitely will charge the battery. On small engines they won't usually have an alternator but have a device called a stator, this acts like a small alternator but more than enough to charge the battery and run any onboard electronics. So you will be fine.
There is ZERO chance that is a 14mm socket. 14mm is slightly larger that 1/2 inch. Now ask yourself this. Does that spark plug look like a 1/2 socket could fit it? The closest socket size to 1/2 inch is 13mm, in fact. I would be willing to bet that the closest imperial socket that would fit is a 13/16". In which case you would be looking at a 21mm socket. Hondas commonly use 21mm. I don't know what that 14 is on your socket but it certainly isn't the size of the plug. Trust me, I live in a country that metric tools are the norm and have been for a very long time.

No, Honda no longer uses filters on their generators with the exception of their largest EB10000 watt model. I personally would prefer a filter on here but with the longevity and track history it would appear the design works well without.

How about how to replace the rope pulley??? Mine just broke
A BPR6ES plug is made by NGK. It doesn't matter what name is on the box. Honda puts their name on it and charges you twice as much.
