Many thanks Anton, After watching your original pod cast last week I have ordered an EU 70is, awaiting delivery, your tutorials are informative and of an excellent quality, the very best on available RUclips, Best wishes KPP nz
I have the same generator, but the US version. I converted mine to tri-fuel using the MSK7000 kit and it runs great. Only 73 hours on it right now since it is for emergency backup power only. Hopefully it lasts as many hours as yours. These are amazing little machines. No wonder many of the food truck vendors rely on Honda generators for daily use. Best of luck to you...great channel and review of your service history!
Thank you for all the great content! 🙏 I had Honda 1100XX Super Blackbird motorcycle and valve adjustment is every 48tkm, or 30 000 miles. My mechanic is Blackbird specialist and he measures the valves before and after. After 14 years and 48tkm, the valves exceeded factory specs. They measured like they have were adjusted yesterday. The mechanic said, in reality, that 152-164hp/11000rpm engine "maybe"needs valve adjustment in every 100k miles. Maybe. And the engine lasts at least half a million miles, with just basic maintenance. After that, it will be sold to Africa and they use it for next half a million miles. What's mind boggling, that engine needs 10w30 mineral oil. Mineral oil! If you put something better in it, prepare for problems. Trust me, I know. I tried maybe the best oil there is, motul 7100 and the whole bike vibrated like crazy when opening the clutch. I replaced the oil back to Hondas own mineral oil (from the 1990's). Problem solved.
I really value these videos so educational and therapeutic the what you can learn in 30 minutes has taken you years to learn to then show the best results! Thanks again Aaanton 🎓
That’s getting up there. Generally about 1500 hours is the expected lifespan of most splash lube air cooled engines. That’s the good ones! A lot of the Honda clones are expected to do anywhere from a few hundred to a 1000 hours. The expected life on these seems to be 10,000-12000 hours so keep us posted how it goes on. However I’ve heard of a couple of (unconfirmed) reports of 20,000 hrs plus. Guess it’s down to fine manufacturing and metallurgy how they seem to live much longer than they should. When it finally dies, it’s worth putting another engine in.
@@aaanton11doesn't matter if it's original or Chinese clones. The key to longevity is to use motor oil from reputable brand, frequent oil change if frequently used, use quality spark plugs from NGK, champion or DENSO, clean the air filter. And as the generator starts to age , use a slightly thicker oil, whether synthetic or mineral. I use mineral since it's cheaper and I do frequent oil change
Super product for here in Maine U.S. Many outages over the 7 years in snow or rain ( plywood cover for protection). As shown, easy maintenance. This machine needs 4 wheels; it's heavy to pull and roll back. Hello Honda ? Adaptors ?
Hi Anton, I love your video! One question regarding this magnificent generator. Mine stops working regularly... Impossible to start it again. Leave it for a day and off it goes again! (mostly). I returned it to the dealer and they said it was bad fuel, water in the tank... But just a few months later I have exactly the same issue. I fill up my generator directly at the fuel station, so always fresh fuel. I store my generator inside (it's summer... so temperature really doesn't go below 10°C inside). Today I used my generator for 4 hours, transported it home and after unloading it I started it again. Just 2 minutes...and it stopped. Any suggestion on what to check? And maybe a tip on how to remove the fuel filter? I don't understand these little clips :D
So for info: I checked the spark plug... looks clean, no wear, dry, ... I checked the fuel tank, no water in there... I checked the wiring like the loop plug... all ok Is there a way to check the fuel filter? Fuel pump?
when it cuts out disconnect the spark plug, remove spark plug reconnect the lead to the plug hold it to the engine block and crank the engine, do you have a spark? is fuel vapour coming out of the plug hole? Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11good stuff, proper test you are giving it ! Let’s hope it makes 20,000 hours. Guess if it was a car it would have done just over 300,000 miles for those hours. Considering it runs all day and not too many cold starts I can see it feasibly doing the equivalent of 5-600,000 miles, 20,000 hours! If it starts to smoke or gets rod knock fitting a short block would be a good project! Hope that’s 10,000 hours plus away though !
I have a newish honda monkey bike, and a honda pressure washer and never have the valve clearances been out when I checked them. They do go overkill on the servicing but they have to think of worst case scenario. For example what if a generators working in an Australian outback quarry. It would need servicing every few days lol
I work on these all the time and every single one has needed a valve adjustment after a few hundred hours. I have even seen many out of spec brand new. You dont need any gaskets and the valve cover gasket is rubber and reusable. I would bet if you check the valve lash it's off by a fair amount.
This one has just stopped, needed to repair it here is the video, have you seen this fault before ruclips.net/video/MDwyOmbOCyE/видео.html Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Hi mate , Very informative videos about Honda EU70is. Could you please let me know the hight X Width x Depth including the wheels. Just looking to order one soon but need to make space back in the van .
@@aaanton11 Hi I hanks for the speedy reply. So if I have leftover 800mm square space in the back of van then I can easily manoeuvre and store securely please.
Thanks Gary the Honda is a gem, Solar system still in the pipeline, I am still waiting on a good deal, its got to be the right price or the project will be unviable. I am sure it will all come good. Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
When determining service intervals as a rule of thumb under normal conditions, we equate hours to km equivalent in a motor vehicle as 1 hour = 50km. So this would work out at about 405000km. In this application, there are relatively few heat/cool cycles, so with a good quality (Honda is) piece of equipment and good servicing, 8000h is not a huge surprise. However, considering its a smaller petrol motor. For it to still be running this smoothly is a great endorsement to the product and the care taken of it.

That is amazing! Regarding the valve adjustments, I would think after 8000 hours it would be prudent to check them at least. Don't wait for tapping.
I am a firm believer in "if it ain't broke don't fix it" Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Thanks for the review ! I have the EU3000is in Canada and planning this spring to change it for the EU7000is (same model as you).

That's amazing for how long that generator is in use at your Coffee Van. Thanks for that usefull information 👍👍👍

What kind of fuel do you run?
95 Ron unleaded , Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Have you ever changed the inline fuel filter above the air box?
After 9999 hours the clock goes back to 0 so it’s brand new again 🤣
No, I have not noticed another filter in the system, Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
