This also shows how lower the point of diminishing returns used to be. It once was around the -60 series.
Nowadays, they put the 4060 so low in the performance category while pushing its price higher and just making the TIs regular cards, so that... there's no diminishing returns. Spend twice, get twice the performance and so on. Up to $1500. Which means that your affordable card is less affordable and performs like 30% of the generation's peak card and not 80% like it used to. Very sad.

Though sure at that point it wasn't running games much good mostly due to the low Vram amount but with the OC it was hitting around 1.9 Tflops and for a while it was actually giving considerably better performance than a much later PS4 console in a lot of games until eventually got pretty bad from the low Vram and off course PS4 just kept getting better and better like always each gen of consoles it gets to a point where best games the devs use all sorts of learned tricks to improve visuals...

Wow you still have the Matrix card 🥰🤤🤩👍! Asus definitely had more creative freedom back then from Nvidia with its GPU designs and core mods etc ……unlike today 😡👎. Nvidia needs to give back a little freedom to AIBs to help make unique and more powerful variants unlike overpriced and underwhelming o/c models like now 😩

Even the HD 6970 was barely any more expensive than the 560 Ti 448 though, as its price had dropped a bit when the 448 edition launched. But I guess the most similar comparison would be the 6970 against the 6930. Both use the biggest die cut down to a midrange card and both were relatively obscure cards released very late in the life cycle of their generation of cards

@@GregoryShtevensh Then surely you remember anything from the HD 4850 until the R9 290 selling quite decently? I think only the Fury and Vega series (including the Radeon VII) sold poorly. The RX 480 and 580 weren't bad either. That said, nVidia's market share has always been bigger. I think it still is on current gen cards

Back when mid-tier graphics cards actually provided good performance compared to the flagships. Try comparing a 3060 Ti and a 3080 and see if it's only a 10% difference. And let's not talk about the price. At least AMD still tries to compete in the mid-tier gpu market unlike nvidia who has given up on it.
