Lately I've had my eye on a Radeon VII on ebay that happens to be missing it's cooler and has the single slot bracket that probably indicates it was watercooled when in use, I have the sneaking suspicion it'd be untested rather than simply broken, and possibly functional, if I could slap another cooler together it could be cool.

Good video and glad the project wasn't a loss. Tech Yes City also does this from time to time, buying a collection of old GPUs hoping to get at least a couple good parts to make him some money. I'd want the water bath thing before I got into doing something like this. And a computer lab.
I always get the 80% off final value fees promo, so yes it is quite commonplace! Top tip - only sell if you have a promotion - eBay's standard 13% fees are way too high. Also interesting that you stopped with Facebook Marketplace; I don't actually have a Facebook account but might create an account (and have it super locked down) just for the Marketplace side of things. Gumtree doesn't do well in my area and I'd like an alternative that doesn't mean a loss of money (and having to fork out for more postage costs) everytime someone hits the "return item" button followed by "doesn't match description or photos", even when you know for sure that your item was as described.
Looks like the only way people will pay for an 8400 GS is if they're tech ignorant and get tricked into buying them, or if they're part of a bundle with other better cards.
Being able to create several videos from a £99 bundle of gpus is a great return. The profit is irrelevant, £100 a video in material cost is great for a channel of your size

mannn.. glad to hear you got off FB. the ghetto of the internet. ive been off for 10 years and don't miss it. still follow you on twitter though (or X or whatever its called today lol)
I've sold loads of old tech on FB market place, yes you do get quite a few time wasters and people who never reply etc but the genuine ones tend to do as they say and actually come to your door and collect the item and you usually get the market rate for the item and then pay 0 fees which is always a bonus. I used to use gumtree and preloved as well.

I'm probably one of the only people to intentionally buy an 8400GS..because it had a cool heatsink, gave the seller a laugh but i did burn some time testing some potato specials, comparing a Geforce 2 MX, FX5200, the 8400GS, GT210 amongst other GT cards as a battle of the potatoes..suprised the 8400GS did better than i expected and was a decent budget card if you wanted something new but i imagine an older GT card like a 6600 or 7500GT would've done better unless you needed the Low profile design :)
You are not. I am collector, I've bought not only one 8400GS intentionally... but even two of them. They have 3 revisions. Unfortunately, revision 1, which is most precious, came death on arrival.
I have to agree, 100£ doesn't sound that much at first, but a) is it nice to have 100£ rather than not having them, like you said. An b), which weighs much more for me is the following: as the whole pc thing is a hobby, it is nice that it kinda pays for itself or makes a little profit. I personally got an old Pentium 4 from a dumpster when throwing away old car parts about 6 years ago. A friend asked me, if I wanted to have an old core2duo server from Siemens, but he would need at least a single core for controlling a milling machine in return.... Trade done. Picked up some free old parts like Pentium d pcs, brought them to Lan party's and sold them afterwards. The money went into a core2quad q9650 and a gtx 285. Sold this pc later on and got myself a cheap 4th gen intel board and the cheapest, used brand memory I could find. A friend threw out his i7 4770k and I traded it for an old PCI-E GPU with him. With some leftover money from said Pentium d pcs i got a cheap gtx 760 to pair with the 4770k and 8gigs of ram ABT.2 years ago. One year ago I upgraded my main rig and paired the i7 with a gtx 970 and 16gigs of ddr3_2133. Great times benchmarking and stress testing the machines and components.
I enjoy this channel MUCH more than many other youtube pc tech channels. No ridiculous sponsors, pushing over priced and useless merch and has overall very positive videos. Even on less than good value products, he always mentions at least one positive thing, very refreshing when compared to other youtubers who base their videos solely on bashing on hardware they feel isnt up to their standards. I support channels that showcase what older cast off hardware is still capable of for the average user on a budget.

Gumtree doesn't do well in my area and I'd like an alternative that doesn't mean a loss of money (and having to fork out for more postage costs) everytime someone hits the "return item" button followed by "doesn't match description or photos", even when you know for sure that your item was as described.
i actually do exactly that since the marketplace is the best option for local deals
Gumtree doesn't do as well as FB marketplace in my area for flipping computer stuff too.. definitely worth having
How often are those eBay promotions? Any way to know when they are coming? Just curious!
Looks like the only way people will pay for an 8400 GS is if they're tech ignorant and get tricked into buying them, or if they're part of a bundle with other better cards.
That's not a lot of money for all that work. Especially the logistics bit. But I guess it's to make a point.
Being able to create several videos from a £99 bundle of gpus is a great return. The profit is irrelevant, £100 a video in material cost is great for a channel of your size
Yeah earns cash from the video its self.
Just 25 pounds for all those shipped? Would cost me like 70 where I live.
I enjoy these kind of purchase bundles and try to sell separately. Even if the profit is low
So, basically, if you added up what tech work is worth to get those cards cleaned, pasted and running? You lost close to a grand. Nice.
If I could use all my GPUs in SLI it would be like a RTX 3060
I actually got it worse when buying untested bundles. But thank goodness I managed to flip it and earn a profit anyhow
I dunno, I'm not big on people who make money off tech trying to make even more off used tech. Just seems a bit gross. Just me though.
Wait, eBay takes this much money just for listing? I thought it was with shipping fees.
100 pounds for 2 weeks is great tbh, I initially thought it took you a whole year😅
since ebay is not common in my area
fb market is the way to go
just bought a freaking mint condition gtx 1050ti for 500 pesos php
i think that's 8$
the seller said that the fan was not working and he tested it before selling it to me and told me it doesn't work anymore so I took the risk and testing it myself and it was working perfectly fine
and the fan was working fine lol
it was not hot and let me tell you it was in a very pristine condition except for the fact it doesn't have its original box
mannn.. glad to hear you got off FB. the ghetto of the internet. ive been off for 10 years and don't miss it. still follow you on twitter though (or X or whatever its called today lol)
Do you send old unusable and broken computer components for recycling?
I've sold loads of old tech on FB market place, yes you do get quite a few time wasters and people who never reply etc but the genuine ones tend to do as they say and actually come to your door and collect the item and you usually get the market rate for the item and then pay 0 fees which is always a bonus. I used to use gumtree and preloved as well.
hey buddy, i still have that msi 780 lightning that i would like to donate, r u interested?
It's nice to give us an insight on your purchase and selling practices. I dont have the time or the patience. Your video confirmed that for me! Keep those videos coming. I like them a lot.
it is a shame that i live in another continet, because often you have things that i need for the price that i need, the shipping costos would be like 3 times of those hd5450 and i need one, same for the 710
Oh man,how much i waito pull this spreadsheet down!!!!
Been waiting for this one for awhile, glad you never forgot about it.
im proud of u still using microsoft word, its like an ancient forgotten technology
Change the desktop background ffs looks basic af
When I saw and read the title, the penny dropped, so I had to find out how you went, I didn't realize it was about a year ago. You did well and at least honest, Cheers.
charge for shipping price the cards a bit lower dont do free shipping. make a lot more money on em.
Never used FB ever, no account & never visited the site😊😁👌👍
Did you intentionally wear the same shirt as the old video?
Dude! I'm so relieved. You are a dark theme user.
I watched that original video as well when it went live. Been wondering what you profited.
That's a nice spreadsheet, but can it run Crysis?
Minus labor costs he lost money :-(
I love how you wore an inverted version of this shirt for the first video.
the fact that he wears the same shirt like in the past video😮
I love how your shirt is *different but not really* when you show clips of your old vid and then cut back to you........
Haha I only realised this after filming
A large order of chips for this man.
Dude, you need to paint your walls!
duuude I remember the original haha nice profits
Yeah I forgot all about it haha
It's always a good idea to have a spare GPU for emergencies, I have my old 2gb Strix 960.
Please do one more video with gtx 980 8hb, using heavy textures. Put it some by side with RX 570 or 580 8gb would be so cool. Please 🙏.
Shipping costs in the US are insane.
So is Finland. €2.30 for sending one postcard.
@@RadioactiveBlueberryWow that is actually much higher than in the US
I love his shirt choice in both videos.
Maybe you could use the 8400 GS's to build retro gaming rigs for sale?
that is pretty much the only use those can get now
@@arch1107There is also display purposes and emulation
Living that fb free life 👍
Off this video...yes 😂
A grand profit of £0.5/hr. Haha, at least its fun.
😂
The retro market seems only a few years away from considering those 8400GSes as desirable.
70% to 90% profit margins return with hardware staying with the customers
