The kids are running 1cylinder side output oh 5-8hp engines. They are built to put out about11-18 HP. Leaf blower is to cool engine because the racing version has no blower/fan to increase output power. By the sound of the idle rpm they probably lighten the flywheel as well. The rotax is possibly a used go-kart engine imported from Japan 30 years ago. Probably 2 stroke. Lawnmower engines can be heavily modified with some awesome power for a tiny package. The truck is called a "farm truck" and it is hand built body and frame using old pickup drivetrain except for the engine. The engine is a 1 cylinder diesel used in farming to power a tiller or a plow, they can be used as a power plant to power water pumps or generator. Good to see yah back Chad!
1st engines are honda gx160 clones the 2 strokes not sure about neither was used much on lawn mowers in the states mostly pressure washers I assume they use them on farm equipment there
Chad I’m a farmer in NY and if our pond was big enough and we saw this as kids we would be all over it ! But every weekend was the Trifecta of short track dirt racing . Thank you so much for all of your content I’ve been subscribed a couple of years and pass these along often with great feedback. And the Thumbs up is always deserved not obligatory. You have solid content .
Those things you call "like work trucks" are known as "E-tan". They are often based on a salvaged pick-up chassis, gearbox, driveshaft and diff. Sometimes they make the chassis themselves, and install the salvaged running gear. They are powered by 12 hp single cylinder Kubota diesels or similar, with a Vee belt drive to the gearbox. They have been used on Thai farms for years; I remember them when I was first in NE Thailand about 1981. They replaced the Kwien, the 2 wheeled card pulled by buffalo or oxen. The same motor is used on locally built 2 wheeled walk behind tractors, known as "kwai-lek" (steel buffalo), which are used for cultivating rice paddies, driving water pumps, and can also be hooked up to a trailer.
I'm a Thai guy with simply zero love for motor sports but damn, everytime you have these boat race episodes I just go ape. We central Thais are amphibians in nature I'm telling you!
The leaf blower is to cool the engine while it's at idle and doesn't have air in the fins or radiator. If you ever watch a motorcycle hill climb competition, they do the same thing for bikes while they're lining up.
I'm currently building a house and getting similar updates to Your Thaitanic build. It is going on 18 months now and it is almost finished. The last time We built it took 3 months. It's the World We live in now.
Thanks for this video! As an ex boat builder I appreciate the ingenuity, and can't help giving a critique. They bounce the boat to get it a bit in the air to reduce skin friction, flat bottom boats tend to be sticky... It reminds me those little three point hydroplanes for kids back in the day. About 9' long with a 10 - 20 hp Mercury, sure felt like a rocket! But if the water was too calm skin friction would slow them down. I suppose parents were scared silly, haven't seen one in awhile. I have to wonder if a few mini steps near the stern might make them faster and not waste energy bouncing. Hey tell 'em my suggestion! Never mind, no boat builder will admit he was instructed. Happy to steal the idea and claim it as their own, though.
Steps would improve efficiency. It's called a sled hull. Even better is to combine them with side plates flat on the outside and curving up and in at the beginning of each raised cavity. This allows a froth layer to be maintained between the hull and water. A New Zealand man, Woodruff's crossed the Tasman in a forty ft powerboat in the 1970s using this design powered by a Volvo 50hp sterndrive, averaging 25knots for the trip. Unfortunately he got Volvo sponsorship with them getting IP rights as part of the deal. Of course they then blacklisted him from the marine industry, hit him with a court gagging order, buried it. Not financial in their interests for people to know that their launches only need 50hp, not 500hp.
I bought a Thai Longtail kit from SPS a couple years ago , I run 13hp Honda knock off motor on it ...it's gets all the looks when I blast through the muskeg. I wish it was fast like these guys tho.
The engines are LO206 motors, we use them in 4 Cycle Karting, Also i believe the second set of motors are two stroke KT-100s, They are also kart engines. The leaf blowers are for cooling down the air cooled engines
Been subscribing since your Golden Triangle Tour and had never missed an upload. Got star-struck when I ran into you on Bangla. I had a grin from ear to ear the rest of the night 😂
Big Dan is right. I grew up in S. California and we had Go-Karts or dirt bikes. Both of which got real expensive real quick. Someone can build one of those on the cheap without having to ask mom and dad for tons of money.
Those engines are all air cooled.... Reving at high rpm without airflow will cause overheating and eventually death of the engine.. leaf blower makes a good air stream till they touch off on water. The rotax engines having been modified with billet flywheels dont have cooling fins and also no fan shroud, so off the start they definitely need the blower on them till they take off, they also rev faster than the other engines, being 2 stroke... The main engines are show here are typically small block 196cc industrial motors... Cant tell from all the angles, but I think might be a big block in there aswell, 420cc maybe.... Typically used for anything needing power... A pump, presure washer, log splitter... and of course gokarts/minibikes.
I have a suspicion Thai kids are a different breed how do you convince a kid under 10 to sit on a engine attached to a strip of wood and say just hold on and pull the accelerator 😂😂 amazing
Chad thought the kid you hi 👋 in the beginning was going to say... Daddy 😆 very cute love your vlogs keep 'em coming. Thanks for the entertainment. Terry
5:14 the reason why they're using a leaf blower at the engine is that those engines are 2-stroke, and its air-cooled. The leaf blower cools off the engine.
Another good video! Love the way they start. I can hear Tom Cruise yelling IM DROPPING THE HAMMER!! Fun live video yesterday… driving the track to dry it. 😎 Already looking forward to the next post!
They sell lots of different random single cylinder petrol engines of the type on those boats, in the big hardware shops certainly where we are in Isan. Possibly the leaf blower was for cooling until they got moving. Great video.
Yeah man GREAT stuff. Enjoying it. All subbed up and belled for a while now. :) Caught the livestream Yesterday... HELLO LADIES at the party. lol And some serious drag runs.. ;) Glad I caught it.. :)
Excellent video Chad! Very much enjoyed the unexpectedly long live video yesterday morning too! You can certainly go longer than me drinking beer and not having to make a pit stop!
Yes, i did see the notification of your live stream but i was at work with bad wifi and so couldnt watch it and by the time i got home you had taken it down, bummer.
I caught the live video last night 👍🏻. I actually like the boat racing at first it was just something different but it has grown on me 😎. You do an excellent job with content I love it! I'm not a groupie type but I don't miss a single video of yours unless it's live. Time differences only cause for that.

thanks for the couple pictures
They are air-cooled engines. So trying to cool the head down as much as possible before the race. Just like putting ice on an intake manifold.
Why did you change the captions?
Leaf blower is to keep it cool.
I like the starting line contraption. Simple, effective, and guarantees a fair start.
5:25 the leafblower is for cooling. They cut the air cooling fan for more power and need extra cooling when waiting
Came here to say this. Those motors are air cooled! They’re blowing air over the head fins.
WHAT YOU BOTH MISSED WAS THE DUDE DABBING WET RAG ON THE FINS ALSO TO HELP DRAW HEAT OUT OF THE ENGINE ....LOL
yep
@@crashalexander7232 and you missed the caps lock
Love long tail boat racing in Thailand. Those kid boats are totally awesome. Can never get started too early. Awesome video. Looking forward to more.
CB media is top notch racing content. I'm always here for it!

It appears that they are intentionally trying to get the boats bouncing. Obviously they are doing it because it's faster, but I don't understand why.
@@LowVoltage_FPV would think as the boat comes out of the water its less drag and would be faster

Excellent episode! Thank you Brother.
These people never cease to amaze! The engineering that you show, almost every week, is astounding.
Thank you!
Thanks for the upload, more great CB content. This channel has my “move to Thailand”motivation through the roof !!!
Always posting the best racing content. Thank you.
They are using the leaf blower to cool the engine down.
Another CB Media boat racing video, back to the roots!! I miss your food and traveling videos ;)
Those little brave souls… priceless!
2:20 Cutest thing ever. The way the little fella just peeked on you….too adorable!🥰💖
Loving the river boats. Man that looks like fun. Thanks

Or racing video games. They race in real life. How cool is it?!!!
damnnn, what it wouldve been like growing up there as a kid! No doubt just awesome!
yes, as long as your parents have that bhat to spare
Chad, Thank you for posting this video, wish I was there in Thailand really miss my grandson. Nest year for sure.

Cool quality video again from ChadB 💯
Nice! Surfboards that go fast 🤘
I watched your live at the drag races last night it was awesome. love watching the boat racing.
Thanks for the content Chad
Leaf blower is to cool the engine for back to back racing because they are air cooled . We use them when drag racing atvs here in kentucky

Awesome shots Chad. Watching from Bangkok🇸🇨🇸🇨
Possibly that kid's first high five, next week he'll be dappin' up his homies like a G
The motors are like a 6 or 10 hp Briggs and straton, and the leaf blowers are to keep the engine head cool until they start moving.
Always putting the good stuff on video ! Glad to see you back in Thailand.
Great video! Hopefully your boat gets done soon. Wanna see that thing rip!
They can do so much with so little. I am always amazed at the MacGuyver-like skills they have.
I hung out and waited 3 hours for them to start racing again lol it was a awesome live stream
Thanks for your video. Always a fan
It's nice to see that life vests are more common than not... and helmets. Didn't expect that.
Great show Chad !! Love these boats ! Dangerous as hell though !! Lol !!

Thanks mate for this one , you gotta get back to a big event and show the top running classes again !! Yehhh would love to see it again !!!

Awesome footage Chad!!
