Nice! I thought I saw you guys out there last Sunday! Lol. My favorite way to make them. Olive oil as a binder, salt, pepper & garlic. Grill on the smoker skin side down to start...omg so good!!!!
Lol we had to move around a bit to find them. Pompano on the grill sure sounds good!

Hi Matt just came across your videos and started watching them. I’m really enjoying them. was just wondering though if you could tell me, what the size and bag limit is on the pompano. I’m having a hard time getting information on that.
Thank you, Phil, I am glad you enjoy watching them! In Texas (as of writing this) there is no size limit and no bag limit. So you can keep as many as you want, any size you want. Of course that could change later down the road.
Hi Matt and Rubin, I was expecting a video of flounder fishing from you since season is open back up but pompano is even better because it tastes better :) I would scale, gut and clean the pompano then steam whole with ginger, scallion, soysauce and oil. It tastes really delicious compared to frying or baking. I can send you link to a recipe if you need it. Try it out. When did you catch these pompano? We didn't go because it was supposed to rain this weekend.
Thanks for sharing, Darlene, that sounds absolutely delicious! We'll probably chase some Flounder with this cold front that just rolled through. The high winds and rough surf will push the Pompano further out. We had some baked Pompano on the half shell last year and even the skin came out tasting great.
Yes, the skin tastes really good, especially when deep frying. Also bones are so so soft. When I steam it I don't have to worry about beeing accidently choked up on the bone. I normally give some to my dogs without worrying about bones either. It's the best tasting and beautiful looking fish. Can't wait to see you catch and keep a big flounder. I am sure your secret spot for flounder is very crowded now on weekend.

Hey Matt ! the freeze Friday will turn the water and it will take some warm weather to change it again .
That's what we are thinking as well. The water will be too cold and push the Pompano out. It could be good for Black Drum though lol.

What beach marker were you at?
We were up and down PINS all day on this trip. We started around the 5 and worked our way past the 30.
What day were the pompano caught
This was on a Sunday.
What is the location of the place
This is at the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS for short) that is just South of Corpus Christi, Texas.
How is pompano fishing?
Well once that freeze came through usually the Pompano go offshore to deeper water. If we don't get any more cold fronts and the water warms back up and surf is green/calm then they can make a comeback. Now if the wind is blowing 20mph+ with 4 sets of breakers and we keep getting cold fronts then it won't be good lol.
I was out there this whole weekend and yes all those cold fronts ruined fishing. only manage 2 pompano
