    Now that the Toronto store is open I plan to pick up a konro in person instead of dealing with shipping it. Looking forward to much yakitori-grilling this summer and fall! Thanks for the tips!

    Here's a thing - is it possible to get real Mirin somewhere in Calgary? Is there a liquor store somewhere that carries it?

    • @KnifewearKnives
      @KnifewearKnives  Год назад

      Most grocery stores should have Mirin. Or you can try the Asian grocers like H Mart or T&T

      @@KnifewearKnives I don't think they can sell the real stuff at groceries, can they? It's 8-14% abv.

      @johnmay9598 I'm in the states but it depends on location. Down south, Asian stores. Up North, Asian stores and even the most basic grocery stores have it. Worst case buy what you can and add some Sake. 😆

      This is what Naoto used: www.tntsupermarket.com/eng/66859201-hon-mirin-cooking-wine.html , he says it's closest to real mirin!

    MSG?!?!?😮no way

    • @OriginalFallofMind
      @OriginalFallofMind Год назад

      MSG has an interesting history. Dr. Kikunae Ikeda coined the now 5th taste umami invented MSG to replicate it. Is was demonized by the fda, but fast forward, it may not be as bad as they claimed. Go figure.
