Crazy that this video came up on my screen. I was just telling a friend how I'm going to try to follow the Euro League next year. As an American, it's tough to follow. I also know so very little about it. I don't even know what the teams are. A few weeks ago I looked, but forgot their names except for Real Madrid. Then just today I recalled Athens and then the Partizan fan video.
I got into it cuz somehow I saw a clip of their playoffs. A team (forget which) won 3-2, but the fans were nuts. That's what reeled me in.
I like how the semi's and finals are 1 game each. I like how (I think) the bottom 2 teams get booted from the league. I still haven't figured out exactly where the 2 new teams will come from. I read an article today that one of the teams (forget which) might not accept the invite cuz they'd have to raise their ticket prices 70% to join. I also like how teams get to play defense. I quit watching the NBA over 20 years ago. It's sissy basketball.
Other than Lebron James, I wouldn't recognize one NBA player if I saw their picture. I know some of the names of the better known players, but have no clue as to what they look like. Kevin Durant. Steven Marbary. I just don't follow the NBA cuz it's not interesting.
Back to the Euro League- I saw they were in the final 4 about a week before they were to be played, but I couldn't figure out how to watch the games. Life went on, and I forgot about em. Then just today I was trying to find out who won it all. The official Euro League website is tough to follow. Here's the one I go to. I actually have this pinned on my comp. I went to it a few hours ago and I couldn't find anything I was looking for. www.eurohoops.net/en/euroleague/
I went to the Flashscore website and that one seems easier to follow. That's just mostly standings and results though. That's better than the official site, but doesn't really tell me anything about the teams, players, etc.
I'm serious when I say it looks like a lot of fun. The fans are nuts. I love the atmosphere. I haven't even picked out a team yet. I was leaning towards the one of the ones in Greece. Not Athens, but the other one with the long name. I looked that city up on a map awhile back when I saw that first clip that introduced me to the league. West side of the country if I recall it right. Such a cool city with all the ports and such. So they might be it. Also thinking of Partizan- I just saw their fan video a few minutes ago and that place is nuts.
I won't go with Real Madrid. I know that name from soccer (or football as most of the world calls it). Plus they just won it all. Congratulations to them. I just wanna root for someone who's not on top at the moment.
I want a team that not many in the US are going to know much about. Like one that I can show my friends and go "wow, look at these fans" or show em pictures of the city and go "wow, look at how beautiful this place is."
If someone actually reads this and can recommend a site so I can start following what's going on in the Euro League, I'd appreciate it. I'm interested in where the teams who finished in the bottom 2 end up. I have no idea of what that league is.

I'd say this season was really entertaining but that fight between Partizan and Real Madrid players left a bitter taste since I feel like Partizan was punished more severe than Real. Deck provoked the fight and started it first, plus Real players were commiting 3 consecutive unsportsmanlike fouls before it escalated. I feel like they knew what they were doing and without it, that would be an easy sweep for Partizan in the 3rd game.

@@MaTiX961 Remember Deck's foul on Exum or Poirier's 5th foul on the half court when he sent Punter 5m back?
Deck was winking to his teammates if you look closely after it. His body language said "I've got this, I know what I am doing." At least it felt from my perspective.
Punter's reaction was saying "I won't get picked on" and all he has done was flexing his biceps in front of Llull. In my opinion that was a humane reaction after all the BS that started happening consistently.

Would have preferred Partizan obviously, but I guess the game winner by Llull made it better.
Next season I'm hoping for more experiments, maybe it's time for a play-in tournament that the NBA implemented? I enjoy the every game matters mentality, but make it so that it's more fair and get rid of the Final 4.

Maybe most competitive but not the best. Without cska and zenit, with Barca having Barca problems. With pao in the last places. With a new fener and a failed efes team. With a real which was a shadow of her previous self. Only Olympiacos was well. The quality has dropped significantly

Firstly: Why would you consider Zenit better or more competitive than Monaco or Partizan?
Secondly: Barca and Fener had a great roster. They were no less talented than teams in previous years.
Thirdly: When did you see teams which didn't even qualify to the playoffs have players like Davon Shields, Clyburn, Vildoza, De Colo?
This year's Real and this Fener would go to the f4 with 3-0 wins 5 years ago

That's a butthurt PAO fan right there. I know it hurts that the best Euroleague season of all time doesnt include your team, but it's widely considered the best. Barca having problems? They went to the final 4 and were great throughout the season. Real being a shadow ? They won the fkin thing. Lmao. And for every Csska that was missing , there was a Monaco. The top 8 teams weren't even decided till the very last fixture.
BY FAR, the best season ever. And it makes sense, the product is getting bigger and better.

@@emmanouilgoulidakis7712 let’s say you are right for the zenit argument. As we saw, Barca dint play basketball. Ok they had a a great roster but this doesn’t matter. Real, for example, was not even the 1/10 of the 2018 real. Efes even though they did have the best roster, they showed as that a team is not only good players. We need to see the bigger picture. All of the great teams, except olympiacos, underperformed. That’s why even though real won the cup, they are looking to move chus mateo.
