    Having the pd35 for about 2 years now I love it. I’m all about redundancy. Love that I can blast my it till it dies, throw either another back up battery whether that’s the full size battery or two cr123’s. Recharging aspect is worry some times.

      Yeah it's one of my favs, and I don't like those special proprietary batteries either. You see some in Nightcore or Olight lights with the positive and negative terminal on one end.

    Thank for showing FENIX has not turned these flashlights into true tactical flashlights. Nice to know the light cycle from low to boost.
    Thinking about getting a newer version, I've got an original or version 1. Great light I've trusted for 10-years now, and it can be left unused for half-a-year or more and still work brilliantly.

      The other modes turn out quite useful for sustained performance. Yeah I'm always surprised that the battery voltage barely changes between charges/beamshot tests... The tailcap switch disconnects the cell so no parasitic drain.

    pd35 v3 has lower eco mode and also has a 150 lumen mode which i think is the most useful setting! pd35r has a 10 lumen eco mode which is to bright to retain night vision! many of us have been asking for moon mode for years but they refuse for some lame reason!! other than that they are steller bullet proof torches!! thanks for the rundown and comparison bro!!

    • @DarrenYeoYT

      Thank you! Yes a proper moonlight mode is a must as it's one of those commonly used modes that you don't appreciate until you're in the moment. **

    do you know if there is a pressure switch available for the PD35 v3.0?

      Not sure sorry, might be able to search the Fenix website. Or one from another manufacturer.

    Basically I'm using this flashlight for a night time setting walking home that PD-35R would probably be better if I want to get access to a strobe to possibly blind someone to get away?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes potentially. However dual tail switches like this can be risky - especially in this model since you could accidentally change modes while you have the main button pressed. So I prefer single tailswitch options.

      @DarrenYeoYT  2 месяца назад +1

      Either of these are fine. But I prefer the PD35 v3.0 - better performance and I like the single tail switch @@niko4074

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Год назад +1

      Hahah 😂 I tried to remedy this by swapping the dual tailswitch of the PD35R with the one on the PD35 3.0. Unfortunately the PD35 3.0 wouldn't turn on. It'd be even better with a charging port under the head (unscrewable).

      @@DarrenYeoYT btw have you tried the PD v2.0? I have one in stock of my local retailer. Considering to buy it maybe, I know its an old model but it has good feedbacks from the community. Your thoughts about it?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Год назад +1

      @@toolsaholic if you don't mind that it has 1000 lumens, and reduced throw (250m) it looks decent. But I think better just to get the upgraded version if possible. You'll be happier with the upgraded specs.

    • @toolsaholic

      @@DarrenYeoYT it is possible, the difference between price is 10$ for the 3.0v. but if I add 20$ there is pd35R coming)) or PD36R, so as you can see the Fenix is penetrating us the way they can and want😆

      Charging posts on flashlight that may be used in the outdoors are generally not a good idea. Not only are they vulnerable to the elements, they become the part exposed to the most force on the flashlight.
      If I had a choice, I'd go with the USB charging port on batteries (these usual last little more than a decade) or even better an external charger.
