I just put a lid switch, timer and some belts on my A806..Oh, and a starter for the fluorescent light. The guys at the repair shop absolutely loved this machine and helped me locate the necessary items. they gave me the starter on the house.lol. This machine is in a house we used to lease out. bought in 1998 and leased until approx sept of 2010. You'd have to figure the tenants would be not the easiest on it and the machine was in the house well prior to us purchasing it, yet the entire duration of us leasing it out, this machine never once had to have anything done to it. in fact, the first dollar we spent on it was when I'd noticed the fluorescent light tube burning out when i was in the house working on something.. (house is next door to my parents'). the machine turns 40 this august 16, 2014. I figure after nearly 40 years, it was worth it to spend some cash on it for the first time. what a tank this machine is and a thing of beauty! And yup, the light in the bin/drum now works.
I just wanna say I really appreciate the time you took to put this and your other videos together. Making videos like this is a lot of work! Thank you for sharing!
If only Maytag put out THIS particular washer...agitator speed, dual action, fast spin speed. It would be unbeatable as far as top loaders go. This setup has the agitation speed of a GE Filter Flo!
Speaking of the fluorescent bulb burning out, I happened to be near the machine, twice at the moment when the "disco lights" started. My Mom and my brother's friends called it that.
Stop lug looks like it's waaaay out of adjustment. The agitator shouldn't rotate that much when shifting from agitation to spin. Cool 50 hertz and tall tub conversion!!!
falcondriver100 and they don't have a agitated deep rinse either!! Two minutes of the tub turning really slow while spraying water and then drains and spins! That's it!!
Yep they suck! I work in construction and my clothes never get clean. My old maytag washer made them look new every wash. The HE washers are mandated by our Gov't for water conservation. Anything the gov't touches sucks.
Always remember why washers today don't wash. BECAUSE past EPA laws made by DEMOCRATS under the LIE of "saving resources". It all started in the 1990's with TOILETS - remember? Oh but but democrats are "for the People". Really? Not anymore! They are for the GLOBALISTS!
I have a question on trans lube, I have a trusty A106/DE106 set that was handed down to me that was pampered all thier life, but the trans lube in the washer is all gunked up and she only agitates with HOT water, is there any substitute for the expensive maytag lube? like Lucas for manual trans in a car or something? its got the original trans.
If you think this is quiet, you should hear the huge difference between this and a good front loader. I own a Samsung that is as close to dead silence as one could ever get.

now thats a "washing machine".. Love the old Maytags!!
Maytag was an awesome product, we had one that worked till the mid 1980's.
I love the noises of the drain cycle.

Whoa! NASCAR of washers...Great speed on the spin-dry.
the maytag hot rod is how a wash machine should work. the clothes actually get clean.
@wentsurfing - Yep, sure did. Top-of-the-Line Maytag washers had lights for the wash tubs up until around the mid 70's.
The cap of the agitator dispenser looked like it was gonna fall out when the brake came in. LOL.
I wish Maytag was still in business!

we need more power captain!
My local parts supplier was able to find one in their stock.
this is the stuff dreams are made of...

A good example of washers built to last decades not like these HE junk
@swestoyz Awesome machine. My mom had one. It didn't have the light. I'm sure my dad said "no" to the lighted model.
Stop lug looks like it's waaaay out of adjustment. The agitator shouldn't rotate that much when shifting from agitation to spin.
Cool 50 hertz and tall tub conversion!!!
Love the load sensor agitator, Whirlpool had Maytag in litigation for copyright infringement, for copying thier agitator.
Actually, didn't GE have a version of the curly Q agitator shortly before Maytag made theirs?
Back when washers actually WASHED the clothes! These new HE wash machines are a freaking joke.

Jay Simons 140 weight gear oil is all you need!!
sure puts modern tls to shame for great cleaning only ones i've seen here are the whirlpool tls
Aahitates as fast as a WCI Frigidaire! Wow!
Agitates*
holy $h!T thats fast
What year it was made??
how does a "load sensor" agitator work? The turnover in the first part was insane.
Where did you get the pulley?
what?? the newer agitators work on the older washers? i wander if the older agitators work on the newer 1s
Niiiiice 👍
It's too fast for your camera @3:10
Its so quiet!
Now id consider putting fatter pulleys on the motor, and smaller pulleys on the drive pulley, see how that plays out!
Compwhiz128 that overloads the motor!!

TomZentra because its probably not working!!
Maytag...On steroids.
