Super. I love all six of the different C-Liners, four or five axle. 💙T.E.N.

I rode behind the specially trimmed FM passenger Units on the Hiawatha's on the Milwaukee Road. The Hiawatha's were new then, and they were like a fine hotel that went places. A big adventure for a little kid.

It's hard to believe a company like Westinghouse had trouble building reliable generators.

Fairbanks Morse’s Erie Built & C-Liner locomotives look great, and if I ever do HO model trains, I will have Fairbanks Morse Cab Units.

I know Tyco had some C-liners, maybe Life Like as well. I’d do a little bit of research

FM is still a going industrial firm. Early FM locos had many problems. The FM Trainmasters were pretty good, but not good enough to overcome the huge lead of EMD and ALCO.

Very much still in business up in Beloit and building some of the most powerful Diesel engines (hp/lb) in the world, including those on (as far as I know from when I retired) every American nuclear submarine; just not building locomotives. Their problem in the railroad market was that they were somewhat late to the market and were not particularly experienced in the railroad side of building locomotives - remember, the war has given EMC/EMD a huge head start over all their competitors in developing and refining both the locomotives themselves and their prime movers. Only ALCO mounted something of a threat to EMD until the later emergence of GE.
Also FM engines required somewhat more care and attention to deliver all that power than their competitors, a cost that railroads understandably preferred avoiding.
