Say what you want about thisthe sd45. She had her problems, but she seeved the railroads faithfully for many years! Her distinctive bidy style can still be seen TODAY, as many of her sisters wewe rebuilt into sd40ms and dash two's. She and her sisters may be gone, but her flared radiators carbidy is still with us to this day! In ho scale,i have a total of19 of them in my collection. I love them , im keeping them on my roster. LONG LIVE THE KING OF THE ROAD; THE SD45!

The PRIME MOVER IN THE SD45 IS A 645E3, 20CYCLINDER TWO CYCLE ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH AN AR10GENERATOR AND THEY WEIGHED IN AT 400,900LBS, A 4000 GALLON FUEL TANK AND A TOP SPEED OF 65MPH, THEY ARE CAPABLE OF SPEEDS OF 106 MPH! THEY HAVE A GEAR RATIO OF 62:15. THEY ACTUALLY HAVE A PRIME MOVER THAT HAD 4,500HP. AND THIUGH THEY HAD CRANKSHAFT ISSUES, THEY WERE NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX. MANY OF THEM HAD REINFORCED CRANKSHAFTS THAT PROVED TO BE VERY RELIABLE. AND THEY WENT ON TO BECOME THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC'S LOCOMOTIVE OF CHIICE FOR MOUNTAINOUS TERRITORY. THEY HAD A DISTINCTIVE SOUND THAT WAS UNLIKE ANY OTHER LOCOMOTIVE OF THE DAY. THE THREE NEWER LOCOMOTIVES THAT ACTUALLY SOUND LIKE THE SD45,IS THE GP39-2,THE SD70ACE, AND THE SD80MAC,AN ADDITIONAL LOCOMOTIVE THAT ALSO SOUNDED LIKE THIS WAS THE SD90MAC. THE SD 45 WAS A LOCOMOTIVE THAT COULD DRAG LIKE A MULE, AND RUN LIKE THE WIND! SHE PROVED HERSELF TIME AFTER TIME. SOME OF THEM ARE STILL RUNNING ON SOME CLASS 2S AND MANY REGIONAL AND SHORTLINES . SOMEWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES,THE SD45IS STILL RUNNING AND HAULING TRAINS THE WAY THEY WERE DESIGNED TO DO.

The engine is the 645, which replaced the 567. These numbers stood for the number of cubic inches per cylinder of the engine design. The 645 was replaces with the 710 engine.

I believe most, if not all of the SD45's still operating on regionals, have had their V-20's replaced with V-16's making them (internally) just another SD-40. Nothin wrong with that.

would you ever do a video about the GP15-1?
Seems like that's an untapped video as everyone tries to make a video about that locomotive, but they dont educate you on anything

They don't, because they fail to do the proper research on them! Most authors don't know nothing about diesel locomotives. The gp15 locomotive was a roadswitcher version of the mp15 multiple purpose switcher. It has a roadswitcher style carbody, with a 2000gallon fuel tank, and Bloomberg road trucks. They weighed in at 256,000lbs. Ther are used in both yard and road service.also, they have the same radiator intakes as the mp15 AC locomotive ,also known as the tunnel motor air intakes. To this day, many of them are still in service, both in yard and local freight service.

I know the information about the locomotive, i was just hoping a better video compared to other youtubers who upload diesel locomotive videos.@@user-ku5wk1yy9x
