    I just bought this board for a Ryzen 5 3600 build. I narrowed it down to this board or the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite ATX. It was decided on the basis of the PS/2 connector, since I have a number of brand new IBM Model M Compact Keyboards that I like to use. Have not yet built it . Got a Meshify C case for it.

    I'm not sure what eight channels is.

    I have a few questions from reviews I've seen on this motherboard. Does your xmp/docp run normally and people say the LED lights stay on is there a way to disable that and also does it make you install armoury crate.

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  4 года назад +2

      I had no issues running my G.Skill 64GB (4x16GB) 3600MHz kit using XMP/DOCP. I just set it and it ran fine.
      You can absolutely disable the LEDs. If you don't want any LEDs at all, there's an option in the BIOS to set Aura to "Stealth Mode," which doesn't require an Armoury Crate installation. If you want LEDs when the computer is on, and them turned off when the computer is off, then you need to install Armoury Crate and set the shutdown behavior of the motherboard LEDs to off.

  • @CameronAkin
    @CameronAkin 4 года назад

    You mentioned that you don’t need the 4 pin CPU power, just the 8 pin. My PSU didn’t come with a 4 pin just an 8 pin. Is that 4 pin for over clocking? I’ve heard some other folks say that it’s necessary for high speeds.

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  4 года назад

      The additional 4-pin is only for extreme overclocking/power draw. The 8 pin alone at a minimum can provide 235W continuous power (and is rated for about 100W more in non-continuous draw). The 3950X only draws a max of about 150W at stock.

    So, I currently have a b450 motherboard, but am thinking about changing to this. I also want to add in a NVMe drive for additional storage(also which slot would I put that in, assuming its not for a boot drive could I just use either of the 2). Would I have to reinstall windows even if I bring my old ssd along with it or can I just re do all the connections and have it work right out of the box with all my old parts?

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  3 года назад

      If you pop your old SSD into the new machine it should still boot up and into WIndows, but you'll still have to reinstall a lot of drivers and put settings back. Additionally, your Windows 10 copy might need to be reactivated. I had to do all this when changing motherboards but keeping everything else the same.

    • @FaRKle0079

      I would be inclined to just stick with the heatsinks the drives come with. That said I understand if you want the aesthetics of the heatsink the board came with.
      For the top spot you don't technically need to remove the GPU, but you probably will want to, to have more working space.

      Your fans only have a 3-pin connector, so the only way to control them is via voltage controller (not PWM, which is what the 4th pin is for). I don't think the board does voltage fan control. If you can't control the fan speeds anyways, then I'd just use the AIO header for your 4th fan.

    I have a corsair 570x and the 3 front fans it comes with have 3 3pin wires but I don't know where to connect them on this mobo (first time pc builder)

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  3 года назад

      You can connect those to the 4-pin fan headers on the board (it'll just take up 3-pins). There are enough headers on this board for three fans.
