Monster Hunter World is on top of my list of known open world/sand box announcements for 2018. MH has never disappointed. Praey for the Gods im looking forward to but keeping my expectations in check. Ni no Kuni 2 is also one im looking forward to. and those are my top 3. with State of Decay 2 being 4th (enjoyed the 1st decently well)
I haven't played any of those franchises! Ni No Kuni looks gorgeous, but not sure it's my style of game... only jrpg I've actually played much of is Persona 5 lol. Been interested in Monster Hunter series for a while but never felt like a good fit for a handheld, imo at least, so I'm definitely picking this one up. State of Decay is one of those games I've been meaning to play for several years now... so I'll prob just try the sequel instead (if word is good). Never really heard of Praey for the Gods (except when Bethesda/Zenimax sued them like a bunch of jackasses lol), but it defintely has me intrigued!

So far my fav. old school Jrpg is Dragon Quest 7 (played on 3DS) I dont own a PS since 2 but I did play Persona 3. Might try Persona 5 on a PS3 emulator. (after buying the physical copy bc I dont believe in playing roms of games less than 7 years old.) oh MH is a great series and again its not for everyone. but if u want a good challenge and love raid bosses/loot system grinding, then this is a game for u. (grant it the hardest difficulty in the series is G-rank but those are usually paid expansions 8-12 months after the base game launch) If u want to know something about MH just ask me. I can give u links tht shows a tutorial made vid from Projared tht explains the core mechanics of the series (minus the QoL changes and such in World). or give u my exp. Shame tht u dont own a Xbox 1 then I culd help u and hav some fun. lol yea State of Decay 1 was pretty good but after awhile once u got the hand of things, u hardly get over-run, barely lose any survivors and boiled down to mostly fetch quests and tedious resource management tht became easy to manage. (but it was fun moving to new bases and rebuilding in new locations) Story was decent. yea tht issue with the copyright was a bit out of hand. but I knew the game since about 2 weeks b4 tht issue. lol Ive always wanted to get around to playing SotC but I feel it wont hav tht same magical feel to me like it has to other ppl tht played in during the PS2/PS3 days. So I thought i might enjoy this more modern take on the game. ive already paid the lowest tier of backing ($25) just to get a copy (forgot which system I chose it for. lol Xbox or PC Hopefully I chose PC kek)

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, it's amazing that the realistic approach to this kind of game has never been done before. I for one much prefer realistic worlds over fantasy stuff. Cant wait to play it.

They're really taking their time with this game, which is probably a good thing. I want it to be good. Really, really good. A good combat system is absolutely essential since there won't be pretty things everywhere to distract you, like in Witcher 3.
Have you played Mount and Blade Warband? They made a pretty believable fantasy world. Not particularly fantasy, just different geography and place names. Fairly realistic in terms of armour and weapons, even if some of the time periods are off. (E.g. longswords in the same time period as Vikings.)
True. Far cry wasn't realistic after FC2, dead redemption wasn't as much as GUN (their father) like gta compered to mafia (their father). But if we can have a FC5 and RDR2 as much good and realistic like a Kingdome come, its a going to be a dream year.

yeah, for pc, sorry if they launch first on PS4 and Xbox one, ill be pretty upset, xbox game is basically a PC game, they are doing it so they can double dip their greedy hands into the people that want to be good at the game of course those gamers will buy the console version and then buy the pc version. makes me sick rockstar. plus they want to make sony and microsoft happy first and a lot of that is now tied to the streaming ad market, so launching a game on console first is just the greediest thing to do.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance deserves more love and should be higher up on the list! There will be no BS microtransactions and the size and ambition of the game is massive. They’ve been working on it for a very long time. If this game turns out right, it will be the best RPG since the Witcher 3.

Plus, from what we do know about RDR 2, how are they similar? RDR2 takes place in the wild west while FC 5 takes place in the present day. RDR2 has horses and carriages for transportation while FC5 has trucks, boats, and planes. RDR2 has rifles and pistols while FC5 has automatic weapons and grenades. FC 5 revolves around an evil cut, It's unclear what the main plot of RDR 2 will be. I'm really struggling to see how these two games are remotely similar. I will admit that WD2 is very similar to GTA V, except with hackers instead of bank robbers.
rdr1 was based on western settings ofc and then rdr2 got revealed in late 2016 and later after some months fc5's trailer dropped when rdr2 was supposed to release in late 2017 but they delayed it to put final touches and not to rush it, which they obviously do unlike ubisoft which rushes every game and it turns out like crap. then in sep 2017, rdr 2's 2nd trailer got revealed and then alot of people kept saying how fc5 stole rdr2's western setting idea but in the end.of they day, we all know its gonna be crap as always because far cry series died after 3.
talking about sales, rdr (2010) alone sold 15m copies and is only for ps3 and xbox 360 whereas entire far cry franchise (1,2,3,4 and primal) has total sales of 20m units on all platforms. in terms of quality and sales, everyone would prefer RDR over any far cry and the reviews says that too because of the storyline, detailing and combat system etc etc. and above that, gameplay. sorry but i can assure you that rdr 2 gonna be goty of 2018 and it will obviously gonna be top 20 best selling games of all time as well.

What I want is SPORE from like 10 years ago but multiplayer. So when you are in your animal state you will see other nests, you can create allies in spaceships etc.
I literally played Monster Hunter for 10 minutes before i closed application and deleted the game. That was the fastest i've ever deleted a game. I liked the detail and graphics but the "monsters" were BASICALLY enhanced dinosaurs, if you play it you WILL agree. I know it was just the beta but they just throw you into the game expecting you to know how to play. It tells you how to knock out the monster but doesn't show you what to do after so it normally just wakes up after a few seconds. Them using dinosaurs as "monsters" makes the game look cheap. 4/10.

Since I don't have a console it means that I won't be able to play RDR 2, but I'm most excited about, not in a particular order: - State of Decay 2 - Monster Hunter World - Ni No Kuni 2 Also, I think Spider-Man is going to be almost the same thing as the Batman Arkham series, which are my favorite games and it's probably going to be awesome. Besides, I love Ratchet and Clank series and I trust Insomniac studios. Days Gone looks ok I guess and they're probably going for a mix between The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn (in terms of graphical style like TLoU and open world design of Horizon Zero Dawn). Biomutant looks interesting as well, have to wait until we get more gameplay videos. Overall looks like an awesome year for open world games and a very strong PS4 line-up.
Ashes of creation is a game that looks really cool. It’s an open world MMORPG and I’ve been awaiting its release since the start of its Kickstarter which it gained millions of dollars for. Apparently it’s releasing late 2018, I hope it lives up to its expectations!

I just realized that at least 2/3 of the games I'm looking forward to this year are PS4 exclusives. KH3, God of War, and Spiderman are my top 3. I did forget Red Dead Redemption 2. God of War is coming in March, allegedly, so hyped. KH3 is absolutely my #1 most anticipated game this year. Spiderman just looks awesome. Spiderman 2 was my shit back on PS2, so I'm looking forward to it. Homecoming was great, so a new game not by Activision and Beenox should kick ass, especially by insomniac
I love that developer Insomniac Games. I have all of their Ratchet & Clank games excluding 1 which came out on the PSP which i didn't have back then. But experienced developers like these almost always make make good and stable games. Will definitely be buying this.

They're not continuing Geralt's story. The multiple endings in available Witcher 3 drove the final nail into that coffin. But I would like a game that explores Geralt's past, before he lost his memory in the first game.
When he mentioned Dual Universe it made me go play Empyrion - Galactic Survival (which is basically what No Mans Sky wanted to be mixed with Space Engineers)

How do they steal an idea when RDR 2 hasn't even come out yet and there has been little information about the story or game play of RDR 2? Plus, from what we do know about RDR 2, how are they similar? RDR2 takes place in the wild west while FC 5 takes place in the present day. RDR2 has horses and carriages for transportation while FC5 has trucks, boats, and planes. RDR2 has rifles and pistols while FC5 has automatic weapons and grenades. FC 5 revolves around an evil cut, It's unclear what the main plot of RDR 2 will be. I'm really struggling to see how these two games are remotely similar.
I will admit that WD2 is very similar to GTA V, except with hackers instead of bank robbers.
rdr1 was based on western settings ofc and then rdr2 got revealed in late 2016 and later after some months fc5's trailer dropped when rdr2 was supposed to release in late 2017 but they delayed it to put final touches and not to rush it, which they obviously do unlike ubisoft which rushes every game and it turns out like crap. then in sep 2017, rdr 2's 2nd trailer got revealed and then alot of people kept saying how fc5 stole rdr2's western setting idea but in the end.of they day, we all know its gonna be crap as always because far cry series died after 3.
talking about sales, rdr (2010) alone sold 15m copies and is only for ps3 and xbox 360 whereas entire far cry franchise (1,2,3,4 and primal) has total sales of 20m units on all platforms.
in terms of quality and sales, everyone would prefer RDR over any far cry and the reviews says that too because of the storyline, detailing and combat system etc etc. and above that, gameplay. sorry but i can assure you that rdr 2 gonna be goty of 2018 and it will obviously gonna be top 20 best selling games of all time as well.

The only reason you have given for why FC 5 coppied RDR 2 is that they both take place in the USA. They don't even take place in the same part of the US nor in the same time period. You're just a Ubisoft hater and a Rockstar fanboy looking for any excuse for why all Ubisoft games copied Rockstar games.

I literally played Monster Hunter for 10 minutes before i closed application and deleted the game. That was the fastest i've ever deleted a game. I liked the detail and graphics but the "monsters" were BASICALLY enhanced dinosaurs, if you play it you WILL agree. I know it was just the beta but they just throw you into the game expecting you to know how to play. It tells you how to knock out the monster but doesn't show you what to do after so it normally just wakes up after a few seconds. Them using dinosaurs as "monsters" makes the game look cheap. 4/10.

Since I don't have a console it means that I won't be able to play RDR 2, but I'm most excited about, not in a particular order:
- State of Decay 2
- Monster Hunter World
- Ni No Kuni 2
Also, I think Spider-Man is going to be almost the same thing as the Batman Arkham series, which are my favorite games and it's probably going to be awesome. Besides, I love Ratchet and Clank series and I trust Insomniac studios.
Days Gone looks ok I guess and they're probably going for a mix between The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn (in terms of graphical style like TLoU and open world design of Horizon Zero Dawn).
Biomutant looks interesting as well, have to wait until we get more gameplay videos.
Overall looks like an awesome year for open world games and a very strong PS4 line-up.
