Nice to see this watch get some love. I have the automatic. It’s accuracy is fantastic. I really do love the quality feel of it, and the dial is beyond black. It looks great on the wrist, and is a great and practical Explorer alternative, you wouldn’t be afraid to wear.

Kind of odd that the black dial has painted indices with lume, and the blue one has applied indices without lume. It wouldn't be an issue for me as I prefer the latter look, prefer the blue colour and wouldn't be bothered by the lack of lume but it's something worth noting if anybody is thinking of buying one.

It's the poor man's Rolex explorer. But I'd buy it over an explorer any day. Two grand for a watch is my limit. You can get anything you want specs or design wise for two grand or less.

Thanks Rob, great video. I sometimes get the impression from all the RUclips videos on watches that I'm abusive to my watches because I just wear them while I do life. Whether it is my Alpinist, or SKX, or Adraaga, if I choose to wear it for that day, it is going to be in for whatever I'll be doing. Of course I'll wear my Casio pathfinder on a rafting trip or a dress watch for a wedding, but otherwise, there is no special treatment. The sole exception is for watches I'm not convinced I'll keep. I have a frost monster that just has underwhelmed, so I've never worn it on bracelet and have only kept it on for a few hours of desk diving. It may seem funny but I think this attitude works for me because I've gotten some really good deals on great watches who've seen some love simply because normal wear doesn't scare me away from a prospective purchase.

My wife bought me one in 2013, but with the silver face no lume on mine but polished hands you can still see in poor light. I class it as my suit watch more a dress watch in my opinion.
Second hand on mine hits the markers perfectly. I like it ....

I was going to buy a used watch like this shown here, but except the bracelet, there is nothing outstanding in this watch. Both this and the watch I wanted to buy had bad lume, crappy indices and logo, it does not even hit the mark right... everything looks like a much cheaper watch, but it is not a cheap watch, even used.

Most people will probably disagree bit I think this is a better version of the Rolex Explorer. And then I'm not talking about the movement of course but I mean the design of the watch.
The dial looks a bit cleaner, the bracelet looks nicer with the polishing and the crown of the Conquest makes it looks more rugged (without looking too "tooly")

I´m wearing 39mm conquest auto for 2 years now and I still haven´t decided about this :D On the one hand, conquest is simply perfect.. like you said, alternative to explorer for around one thousand is bargain... on the other hand, rolex will always be rolex. But will it be five times better than longi for that price? Barely

Great Video Rob . The best model in the conquest range is the one that's been discontinued ref L3.676.4.16.6 it's the Automatic 39mm it's the one with the best "guts" and best size 39mm with 47.5 lug to lug .
I dont know why Longines Discontinued this model with the smaller size and only sell the 42-45 mm sized conquests now.
I managed to grab one used will do a video of it once I get it back from servicing.
    Cheers Rob

  • @severnsea

Kudos for Longines for producing different sizes. Normally the only choices are something like 36 and 40. I absolutely love this watch. I'm not a collector so I don't care if it's powered by steam, I'm perfectly happy with the quartz but I have a problem - The Tissot PRX quartz. The amount of polishing on the case and bracelet is great for a dress watch but a bit of a pain for an everyday watch. The Tissot has far more brushed steel which makes far more sense. And I can get a Tissot PRX quartz for about a third of the price. I'm not suggesting the Tissot is as desirable, but as much as I want the Longines I'm struggling to convince myself it's worth the considerable extra money.

    • @eriktoth6002
      @eriktoth6002 10 месяцев назад +1

The Tissot is a perfect watch too, but if you Buy this, you get more water resistance, a more quaility feel. In my opinion, there are more desirable watches, like a Rolex Exploler.. but there are not any watch which is a more racional choice than this. I have this modell and this is my most perfect tool... i even feel this is not a tool, this is not a jewelry. This watch is a companion.
I am sure, you can find a companion watch in the Tissot too, but remember this saying i heard:
Every watch, which is cost more, than a 30€ casio is not rational. You buy it with your heart. Don't let food yourself, buy the one you like. At the end of the day, it is the only thing that matter: does your watch makes you happy or not?
If you can afford the Longines, go for it in my opinion.

I have the blue 43 mm model. No lume. Applied indices as is also the white or silver variant. Super accurate. Have it for three years with no battery change. 300 meter water resistant. Very hefty. They have a great case back. I just wish that the hand hit all the markers right on. I've seen this watch in store windows that sometimes do that.

It’s so embarrasing with quartz watches that don’t hit the marks. At least a watch is a tool for measuring time. What’s the point with precision if the manufacturer ain’t able to make the seconds jump excactly 1° each second. A circle is 360°, and step motors are cheap. How damn hard could it be..? - They use laser to ensure precision on everything. It’s just as stupid having digital watches counting seconds partly and randomly, pretending that it hard science to counting each and every seconds precisely… So damn annoying sloppiness.. A watch is, above all, a measuring device… Longines looks cheaper that Tissot.

Ehhhh Seems like a bad value proposition. A little research and someone could tick all those boxes much better for that kind of money.

Tbh automatics are for grandpas and watch snobs. I have automatic watch aswell but I don't get the appeal anymore. Loses too much time per day. Only better quality In automatics is the second index which moves smoothly but not it can tick little bit In some for example powermatic 80 that i have automatic

Looks like trash to me, can get some bloody eco-drives which do a better job. Really dislike no applied markers and the watch tries to give the dial depth but doesnt hit the marks for me man.

Longines watches in general have originality, Character and Excitement of a Toyota Camry. My Heritage Chrono is the only one I care for!
