damn, really felt those rolls, good game anyway! i really like those videos, finally i found someone doing skaven content. would love to see more deep dives if possible. cant wait for our long awaited refresh and your opinions and views on them
Dang, a matchup into a shooting list and some terrible rolls. Just discovered your channel and I really enjoy the battle reports. By far my favorite because you explain the thought processes behind the game rather than a robotic accounting of every roll and ability. I'm lucky enough to be a Skaven player, looking forward to seeing more of your videos. I picked up a verminlord from your shop so I can try out your list! ❤
grats to the deepkin, that was also well played, going opposite to pulse to level the numbers of units in his favor.. thats strategy, and then it is dice game also hehe
unlucky on the rolls there, felt like not destined to win which happens sometimes i reckon, ty for the video man love the skaven content, u will ge em next time
Shooting all my low bravery units and forcing a bunch of battleshock casualties tore my rats apart the last time I faced off against sharks. Its a really tough matchup. Too easy for them to pick their fights, ignore your screens, shoot off your backline.
Every army has some bad matchups and this one is definitely one of ours. The combination of extreme speed, long range potent shooting, fighting first, and even the Sharks all being single units at a relatively low points cost makes it hard to trade up fast enough.
It was! If they're outside of 12" and you're within 3" of your own unit with 3 or more models you can't be targeted at all. If they're within 12" then they can choose you as a target, but the -1 to hit from Look Out Sir still remains so you gain that benefit!
Wow, I really admire how this game went :o For me this matchup was always a definitive loser, so I admire such a balanced game! I guess I still need to analyze what happened here and draw conclusions ;)
It's one where we need something to go our way, but definitely a winnable matchup! Had I hit those charges turn 2 I think we pull it out; factor in that I got the double right after that and I'm pretty confident the rats take it down in this one. Maybe next time!
@@warpfireminis In that case fingers crossed ;) I definitely must see that matchup one more time maybe that splitting forces are good idea? The biggest problem are fighting first and turtle's aura which make them suprisingly tanky, so maybe if they will need to split forces too is the way to go...? I must see ;) In any case, thank you a lot (as always) for great vid and we're waiting for next battle ;D
You do have to measure to the center. On most missions the deployment zone is 11" up or bigger, the prayer has a range of 13", and the center of the objective is typically at the halfway point of the board so it's 22" up so if you deploy all the way up you can reach it!
@@warpfireminis makes sense! Great trick to pick up on maps like that, I tend to have the habit of making sure he is safe near my gnawhole quite far back! Awesome report as always! Bad luck on the rolls!
They seriously need to nerf the sharks harder. Their damage output, range, movement and fighting first potential is still far too efficient for a mere 150 points a model. Shark Spam lists are just unfun and miserable to play against as you can barely interact with them.
Haha things went comically bad. Maybe he shouldn't have advanced so far with the turtle? Blizzard is the way to swing the game so hard, maybe he should have worked harder to avoid it. Or prioritize killing the blizzard caster?
The King went in and killed the Furnace instead of focusing the small foot heroes, which I think was a real solid play; the Furnace would have killed the King or a Shark had it been given the chance to fight and is just generally something he has to deal with. He did keep the turtle out of Blizzard range, and then in range to keep the +1 save buff on his units, it was just retreating the Grey Seer out of combat that let me get in range of him.
I absolutely love the double turn! Him doubling me followed by me doubling back turned it into a super dynamic game. If it was static turns the Sharks would just go first every time, shoot the crap out of you while staying out of range, and just rinse and repeat with no possible consequence.
That's true and may be fun for casual games. But its also tru that the sentence "if X gets the prio, the game is over" comes up almost every roll off. Many games can go either way just because of won prios in the later stages of the game instead of tactic 😂
@@olafolafsson2755 But that goes both ways! The perfect example is this game; had I not gotten a double turn myself going into turn 3 we could have just packed up and not even played the game. The double turn makes every single game different, and makes it to where you can potentially come back in a big way as well when you're down; there's always hope! If turns are static then usually by turn 3 there's just a clear winner, it's the player who went first, and shooting armies would have an absolute field day.
Man, hope you melted those dice after this game. That's some seriously unlucky rolling. Great job for keeping it so close despite the terrible dice!
Fr i'm all for Idoneth victories because I feel like I rarely see any but damn those dice rolls hurt to see
That turn two charge phase was back breaking! Very impressive how much you "clawed" it back
that was hard to watch... love how you still fought till the end despite the uphill fight

Nice and short, really nice length to just have a quick battle rep while painting.
Thank you for another great battle report, these are incredibly insightful!

Yep, Michael played a super solid game and killed what he needed to kill when he had the chance!

It was a good game Jordan!
I may be ignorant, but have you covered skaven in the old world? I know they aren't supported but that would be cool.
Haven't done any Old World stuff yet, I'm so deep in on Sigmar it's tough to find time to learn/play another game.
Awesome another one!

Lookout sir was changed

These are F*ing amazing. 🤜🤛
Awesome!
Brutal turn 2

Do you not have to target the center of the objective for skabbiks befoul?

I'm definitely on team nerf the Sharks haha. Maybe with 4th we'll see a rule of 3 introduced?
wow, skaven rolled pretty bad in this game. All those failed charges and the blizzard spell that didn't get off in round 2 hurt a lot.
a 23 unbind on 4 dice is crazy.
Haha things went comically bad.
Maybe he shouldn't have advanced so far with the turtle? Blizzard is the way to swing the game so hard, maybe he should have worked harder to avoid it. Or prioritize killing the blizzard caster?
Obv didn't work out that way, but he could have easily also just lost the turtle.

Your reports show how bad the double turn mechanic actually is. Especially in the later rounds
