Seeing North Berwick brought back some very happy memories of childhood holidays spent there. In those days(seventies) my father and I could get a ticket for unlimited golf during our fortnight's stay for £40. How things change! The course is brilliant. The fifteenth (Redan) has been copied by golf course architects all over the world - particularly in the States. The course -and particularly that hole -was much admired by that doyen of golf writing Bernard Darwin.I was very jealous Peter when I saw the surroundings at Archerfield and the views from the West Links but thanks for bringing back those old memories. I'm now determined to get back there soon.

Incredible place Archerfield. My younger brother worked there and I got to play Fidra a few months back.. fantastic condition.
Promised myself a would never play West Links. I found the pro very condescending last time I was in the Pro Shop. Talked to me like I was a piece of poop on his shoe. A shame as it looks a cracking course.
Played Trump international this weekend. You boys needs to get yourself there. My mind is still completely blown.
+Jonathan Hughes You found the Pro at North Berwick to be rude? Really? Well, when I go up there next week I'll be really interested to see how I find him, as I've never been shy in dealing with people like that. Lol. But I speak as I find, and if he's in any way rude, I'll tell him to his face, then go straight upstairs in the Clubhouse to the Secretarys' office. Haha. To be fair, I'll hold judgement until I meet him, and I'll happily give positive comments as well as negative ones. Also, I don't think I've ever played any course in Scotland whereby anyone has ever been anything other than perfectly gracious, respectful and polite. In fact when I've spoken to the Secretary on the phone at North Berwick he has always been a perfect gentleman, and a truly lovely man. However, there's always a first time I guess, so I'll let you know how I got on with the Pro there when I get back from my trip. Can I also give an unashamed plug to John Leslie, the Secretay @ Kilspindie Golf Club, who has been absolutely wonderful in his correspondence. He's a joy to deal with, and I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in the area to contact him to arrange a round (or two) at his beautiful Golf Club.
