Thank you, thank you, thank you! My dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree last night after my son had taken my jeep up on snowy roads at the ski resort. The instructions for turning the steering wheel to realign worked like a charm!
Hello from Ireland. I've a wk overland crd 2009. have changed clock spring as air bag light was on and moved over the steering angle sensor. I then had an intermittent airbag light and ESP now aswell. So I put the old clock spring back in and transferred back the steering sensor on the basis that i needed to use it on a tarmac road and if the diff came on it woul ddamage the transfer case. I recalibrated steering angle sensor and then realised the cogs in the sensor were not set correctly. I corrected this and now light went out. Bumper came off due to screws not being in place and catching some mud and stones underenath. Now ESP light comes on. If I recalibrate it goes out for a while and comes back on again. Repeatedly. Airbag light went from on constantly to now being quite rare. I think there is a short in the connecting wire to the airbag. So I bought yet another clock spring and this removes the airbag light but ESP staying on no matter how many times I try to calibrate. I asked main dealer to check the part number. seems to be ok. Any ideas? WOuld it be a wheel sensor? Is it possible that the wire to the wheel speed sensor is ok intermittently or would it mean that ESP would be on permanently in stead of going off for a few minutes after recalibration?
The turning the steering wheel worked for me. I think the lights came on yesterday and I tried this out but the lights did not initially turn off however this morning came out and drove my car to the store and the lights did not turn back on so I think it worked. 2009 Jeep Commander.
Nice info. I have all new wheel speed sensors on all 4 wheels (I had to do both rear hubs anyway, and decided to do both fronts to see if the ESP BAS/ABS lights would go off). So I went ahead and did the steering angle sensor realignment. Which worked! Unfortunately I had to do it 3 times in about 10 miles of driving. Wondering if that's a symptom of a bad steering angle sensor...???
Awesome video, I will try that! I'm also getting the 4wd! Light on that I don't know how to deal with it. On top of it this, the 08 Jeep Compass feels like something is stuck when I put it on reverse to back up. Feels like the wheels are having a hard time spinning. Any thoughts on all I mentioned? Thanks for your time and help 🙏
OK, I tried it 4 times last night and so far no go. HOWEVER, I was going to ask how far are we supposed to take a ride to see if it works? I see someone below said they drove for 10 miles before it finally worked. I've only been driving a few blocks after trying it, so maybe I need to take a Longer Ride which I'll do a little later. At the same time, it might be another issue, as I just got this Jeep a couple of weeks ago and have been fixing it up as I go along. I've put on maybe 100-150 miles and never had this issue with the ESP BAS light before, BUT, it first happened while I was driving down the street in a construction area and hit a patch of very bumpy gravel, and right after that was when the lights started flashing. So I'm thinking another possibility might be a wiring harness issue that came undone, I'll crawl under later today and see if anything sticks out. In the meantime, I will try a few longer rides before allowing the panic to set in just yet. Tough being poor and trying to survive on minimal Social Security Benefits, and for me to go to a dealer or shop to work on my car would cost a month plus Social Security income is ridiculous. Just wish someone would make more simplistic cars rather than all these ones that need a Ph.D. Electrical Technician to work on them to keep them going. Bring back the old VW Air-cooled Beetles!
Could it ever be brakes related? Thx in advance The quick fix didn’t work I had a turning, braking at 60 mph freeway ramp shuddering (wobbling) issue an hour before the dash lights came on! Gotta be related somehow! It’s recent 2 years after a 1.5 inch spacer lift so I don’t think it death-wobble either. ???
We just had a massive rain storm here and all my lights came on and it would intermittently shut off and come back on. Now it’s stuck on. I’m gonna have to do some digging.
I have a 2007 jeep grand cherokee 3.7 all wheel drive I can go down the road it will shift all the way thru 2nd gear after that goes in limb mode I have changed gas pedal throttle body, and coil pack and I can't figure it out can you plz let me know what's causing this
For some reason when I start up my 08 jeep grand Cherokee the esp light ,Trans mission over temp light come on but when I turn it off and turn it back on it goes away after I let it heat up
I'm having a similar issue. 2006, commander 5.7, v8, hemi. Drives great when cold, gets up to temp, I accelerate and the ESP light pops and I loose power and can't go above 20mph. I take my foot off the accelerator, the light goes off, I go to accelerate again and it flashes and looses power.... Fault code shows brake light switch and traction control sensor on front nearside wheel. Do you think this is the likely cause ?
He is saying 😢turn it on, put it in park, turn the wheel all the way to left, then all the way to the right, back to the center (wheels should be straight) then then turn off the car, wait a few seconds and turn it back on. If the lights come back on repeat the same instructions.
@@minervamercado7873 I got my jeep sorted out I had bad tie rod it was causing my steering wheel to be out of wack and it was setting off traction control
Tried turning the wheel. It worked! At least I hope it stays off. Thank you for easy to understand information.
thank you!!!
Thank you sir! Turning the steering wheel did the trick! Saved me a mechanic charge and is the kinda work I can do!

Having the same problem did you figure out the problem?
Seriously awesome video!
I had my ESP Valve replaced but the light is still on. I'll try your recommendations.

Clock springs is the correct name for those steering sensors.
If the brake light pedal switch is bad would it cause the ESP BAS & Traction Control lights to come on?
Very helpful info, but it didn't fix my jeep? sensor?
What about when the light comes on and the vehicle stalls and it won’t start?
Could it ever be brakes related? Thx in advance

What about a manual vehicle?
For some reason when I start up my 08 jeep grand Cherokee the esp light ,Trans mission over temp light come on but when I turn it off and turn it back on it goes away after I let it heat up

I'm having a similar issue.

I only have traction control on on my 2014 Jeep with code C123C it’s said something g about stability control sensor
I can’t find anything on RUclips

So dumb to put traction control systems on a jeep.
Many thanks!! Simply realigning fixed it.
Thank you so much!
