- I made this dining table with two turned pedestals for the base and breadboard ends on the tabletop. It was a project full of challenges and I'm really proud of the results.

I am literally doing the same type of project for a client of mine! I’m a woodworker in Washington State and my client wants a trestle table built with the last remaining stock of Walnut that her grandfather rough milled on their farm some 30 odd years ago. The farm has been turned into a housing development so these Walnut boards are all that she has left. I’ve got the material jointed, planed and ready to go......which is why I’m drinking coffee and watching RUclips! I am nervous as hell and genuinely apprehensive about the project but you’ve made me feel a little better. You did a fantastic job man, well done! 👍🏻
I am glad you were asked to sign it, after all it is a work of art, hopefully this will be passed down to their children, it deserves nothing less. Absolutely beautiful!
TRUE CRAFTSMANSHIP. Amazing job sir. What I enjoyed most was how to you were excited about the little things. The snug fits and the way the wood took stain. I too can agree with these feelings. I also loved how there isn’t a single pocket hole on this piece. Wood working is a true art form. Beautiful work
Fortunately, I just stumbled upon this vid, and I'm without words to describe my admiration...your skill level is above top shelf which explains the results of the effort ..unfair to compare this table to the myriad of furniture creations logged on RUclips, but suffice to say it is truly a one of a kind heirloom that will awe generations to come...thanks for sharing 4 years ago and forgive me for being so late to the party!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
That table is spectacular!! I mean it. Beautiful build and great videography, a real pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing.
I’m speechless! I was watching on my phone and had to pause and send to the tv so I could get full glory of the table. The story of the wood is just as beautiful as the table and really makes it that much more special
I'm continuously amazed at the talent in this world. That table is absolutely stunning and you are amazing. I look forward to seeing whatever other incredible creations you have coming. Good work!
Oh my goodness! I loved this video, but most of all I love your work and narration ❤️ thank you for sharing!
Oh my gosh. What an art! That's legit. You do not take shortcuts. Kudos.
absolutely beautiful, luv the look of walnut once finish has been applied, great job
WOW, you are a true artist. I have watched this from start to end twice now and am in awe of the workmanship you have showed making this awesome table.
This is one of the most quality table I've ever seen. Its just nothing but beautiful and beautiful.
Wow!! This is the calling card of a serious woodworker! Amazing piece of furniture - oh and 14:18 Matt Cremona would be so proud.
I'm a hobby but fanatical woodworker. I'm presently working on a dining table and this video has been really helpful so many thanks.
Beautiful table. Outstanding craftsmanship.
Wow.... for some reason watching your creation made me become a bit emotional.. Im new to woodworking but watching people like you on RUclips makes me believe in myself again. I suffer with Mental Health issuse and believe it or not I used to have a really great career in IT Senior management, but these days not so much. Watching your video has fired me up again, so thank you....
Outstanding William. I’ve heard all about this table build on the podcast and am now finally able to see what you were talking about. It looks fabulous, especially the book matched top. While I turn spindles I can’t imagine turning those pedestals. Your narration on the build was excellent and the cinematography was superb. Now I know what you were trying to describe in regards to color matching is concerned. Maybe someday I’ll get to that level. Thanks for sharing your work. It was inspiring to watch.
The story behind the table is great. Remembrance is a beautiful word.
Easy to see how proud you are of this work. You have every right to be, thanks for sharing and please carry on.
This table is absolutely stunning! You're absolutely right about challenging yourself. It definitely gets harder and harder the more you develop your skills, though - whether it's finding things that challenge you, or figuring out how to pass the challenge! Amazing work.
Watching this sat at my Ikea particle board table. Beautiful work.
This is easily the best table build video I’ve seen. And the table is gorgeous! Great production too
Beautiful table, superb craftsmanship, and what a great, soothing voice - reminds me of Kiefer Sutherland!
Inspiring build and video. I haven't been watching many videos lately since we had the baby. This one makes me want to churn out some videos!
Best project yet? I think so. Amazing work man. That turning looked massively intimidating but the legs turned out (pun intended) so nice. I got spoiled having a huge pile of air dried Walnut to work through and now I’m out. I need to restock, as kiln dried just doesn’t compare.
When I got started, I was in love with kiln dried walnut. Then I worked with Air dried Walnut and now kiln dried just looks too brown and muddy to me. Totally spoiled. I did do a barter job once, where I used the clients lumber to make an island top (maybe 3 or 4 hours in the shop?) and they let me take the rest of the air-dried walnut, a few hundred board feet. That was a good trade.
Yeah, I think it is pretty safe to say best project yet.
Wm. Walker Co. If only we were all so lucky. I think I'm down to about 20 bf of air dried walnut left.
Yea, I bought a huge pile of it off of Craigslist and really loved working through it.
Crafted Workshop I lucked into emptying out an entire shed at a saw mill for $100. Had probably 2000 bf of mixed lumber originally. Well over 600 bf of walnut. I've had to giveaway a bunch just to move in my small garage shop.
I really like the low profile base with the round supports!
You sir have every right to be proud of your work. Anybody with half a brain would love to have that piece of artwork in their dinning room. The only problem now is coming up with chairs suitable enough to compliment the table. Fantastic...
That's an impressive build. I especially liked the glue up of the table top. I'm an amateur woodworker and the knowledge you have and share is awesome! Thank you!
Dang! That is beautiful. Walnut has got to be my favorite wood species. Well done.
Amazing ! The contrast on that wood is incredible. Awesome job.
I am in Awe ! Wonderfully Crafted !
Absolutely stunning. Making those pedestals looks nerve racking!
Every hole you open in the wood or my heart hit hard. Superior wood and good work!
Looks great! Love the breadboard ends and you did a great job with the pedestal legs. I really like the idea of adding that extra inch on the feet to give it a carved look. If you're REALLY looking for feedback I would add that the bottom half looks so beefy compared the top. You pretty much had to do that because of the limited amount of wood BUT perhaps thinner legs and thinner (but TALLER) feet would have fit the thinner top better?
Dunno, just thinking out loud. I'm really excited to see its "forever home" too! Keep us updated. You make great projects and great videos too!
Mr. Walker, an absolutely stunning table. My favorite wood hands down is black walnut. How lucky those people are getting to look at that table every day. When you were chucking up those pedestals, I was like WHAT!! I was holding my breath with you when you fired up that lathe. Just stunning, congratulations!
You did an awesome job and the wood selection and book matching really set it off , Beautiful ! BEING A WOOD WORKER I APPRECIATE all involved . be proud of that one
Absolutely beautiful piece of wood and furniture - and a pleasure to watch...
Absolutely beautiful. The finish makes the piece come together into a heirloom.
Your cinematography, musical dramatic elation, and realized craftsmanship is absolutely exquisite. Koodoo's
Incredible table Will. What an absolute stunning piece. It is truly heirloom quality and that should probably be in the table name. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely beautiful table. I love the walnut. Your skills were good to begin with , but you really have become a fine furniture maker in a short amount of time. Truly magnificent craftsmanship, William. Well done. Troy
Thank you so much!
I love the look of walnut and you created something amazing with it!
Now that’s an heirloom piece. Gorgeous!
That is a stunning table, sir. Nicely done.
I would have decided to keep it. Heirloom quality for sure. Awesome build. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful, beautiful piece, just beautiful. Your videography is stunning.
Excellent!! Happy to hear I am not the only one who things holes in a table should have epoxy. retains the look and not crumbs.
Beautiful table!!
Very nice table Will. I really love the book matching you were able to pull off on the top. It’s Gorgeous!!😍
Those pedestal legs! Sheesh. I would have been sooo nervous to turn that behemoth chunk of walnut! Great job.
Thank you for your videos of real woodworking furniture builds.
Outstanding build and video! Your craftsmanship really shows through on this build, simply stunning.
That! Is a beautiful table, real craftsmanship.
I love all of this. Challenging yourself, always allows for growth with in success or failure. You definitely succeeded. Great video.
Also, chisels and walnut are just so soothing.
That walnut is drool worthy. Great job on the table and love your explanations on what you’re doing
Beautiful piece and beautiful story! Thanks for sharing!
Spectacular work. Congratulations. Your clients are lucky to have found you.
This table is amazing! Your courage and confidence in taking this project on - especially those turnings - is inspirational. Makes me want to try something really hard.
Awesome build man!!...you took the time and effort to do things right...must have been very rewarding for you to see this take shape and end up as such a beautiful handcrafted piece...I really appreciate the narration explaining your steps along the way...made watching so much more interesting....the new owners must have been thrilled!...thanks for sharing your build!
Absolutely beautiful walnut table! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Well, you are right Will! The table came out really nice!
I love my new table and its really special since the wood came from a black walnut tree on our property. Will did a great job and the table will fit its new home when we move perfectly!
Wow! That table is a work of art! You should be very proud of yourself!
Amazing craftmanship! Looks amazing too! Dream project of making my own dining table. Cheers to you good sir! 👍👍👍
Beautiful job Mr. Walker, that’s one heck of a table.
Wow, what an awesome table! That thing is gorgeous. You should be VERY proud of that.
Nice work...I too like that moment with the finish pops that chocolate color of walnut!
Dude....absolutely gorgeous... amazing wood skills and your story telling was even better..keep producing these high quality videos !!!
What an awsome table love the air dried walnut book match. The turned legs came out amazing
Man, this is masterful! Absolutely fantastic job!
Thanks Shaun!
Looks beautiful. I might have made the pedestals a little thinner but the walnut top looks fantastic.
Wonderful! What a beautiful build! I enjoyed meeting you at the meet-up at Hardywood. Thanks for coming to that event. Hope to see you soon.
Hey thanks Jay! It was great talking to you at Hardywood. I'm thinking of doing another meetup soon. Stay tuned!
lost footage live with someone left suck in an island , u got me there . i remember margaret atwood “If it's a story I'm telling, then I have control over the ending...But if it's a story, even in my head, I must be telling it to someone.
You don't tell a story only to yourself. There's always someone else. Even when there is no one.” love your work.
My goodness! So much drooling going on... superb work. It's shocking that 170k people saw this and only 2k liked it though....
A beautiful piece! Wonderfully made and the video is shot with your usual excellence.
Really looks awesome. I am building a farmhouse table out of dimensional lumber as this is a first run at a project. I will be adding breadboard ends and I like how you showed yours here.
What a brilliant video, everything was excellent and if I could like it three times I would.
The first time would be for what was evident first, your amazing ability to relay a story. You paint a picture of your emotions, thought patterns and the multitude of pressures you were under and why. You gave us a back story which is very rare on RUclips.
The second for be how you have the ability to explain quite complex operations that even an ignorant and uninitiated newbie like myself could understand. Einstein said a genius isn’t a man who understands a theory, but one who can explain it. You say what, why and how you are going to do something and you don’t just presume we know.
My third and final like would be for your amazing, and precise, craftsmanship. You take your skills to the next level up to that of a true artist in his medium. You have talent, skill and a work ethic that very few can match. When the finish went on it was a true "Wow!" moment and I only hope your client watches this video.
To say this video is excellent is a massive understatement, it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. I have a health condition that means I spend a lot of time in bed watching videos, I'm rarely up after 5.00pm and that means I watch a lot of video, a very lot. I loved every second of it, thank you so much for posting.
Wow that turning gives me the chills
Absolutely Amazing!!!!
Great work Will! The size of the top really goes well with the pedestals. Amazing balance with the proportions.
Nice work. Excellent results. Thanks for sharing!
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Phenomenal build. Beauty of a table. Well done sir. That would have been hard for me to part with.
Wow. Fantastic job on this table
Beautiful work and craftsmanship
Truly awesome - superb craftmanship
Very Nice !!! great job Mr Walker, love the turning.
Beautiful, beautiful table.
Good grief! That is sone stunning piece! I love love love the pedestals. You did a fantastic job with the turning. I would have been so scared. ha
What a Beautiful table. Great job, and thanks for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous!
What I think? I think it turned out amazing! That walnut is top grade and so is your craftsmanship!
Killer table! The storytelling and video production sure don’t hurt either
Great work, Will. Beautifully piece.
Absolutely awesome! Beautiful design and build.
On the ones I have made I make the holes on outer tenons of the table top oval to allow for expansion or shrinkage. Great job!
Beautiful! Your filming is always top notch.
You made art, nice job done, making a table generations will fight over
What a great project man. You do a great job of taking us through the steps and helping us viewers enjoy the process. Wish I was there! But I'll settle for the vid I guess... Thanks for another good one!
Great job Will. Take came out fantastic!
